Obsidian is so hard to use for me as a casual user. I can’t wrap my head around the Markdown language… but it has so much cool features like the Mind Map. I like Craft a whole lot, it feels nice and optimized since I use iOS.

I've been giving Craft a try recently because Obsidian always becomes a huge mess for me. Excited to hear what you both have to say!

    • @slee5666
      @slee5666 Год назад

@@EHGRUAWWA obsidian at its current state appears to be going back to the time before direct manipulation. It is not intuitive, requires too many steps, lack of versatility, no redundancy (many options/ways to execute soemthing), and steep learning curve. Looks "cool" but it really doesn't solve a problem in the 21st century. We got too many things in our lives to add a new task with Obsidian. You can give it a try but unless you are looking for novelty or into markdown, you will spend a lot of time to learn Obsidian--let alone setting it up.

Hello , One doubt i have in using PARA method.
I have PARA folders implemented in multiple systems - Apple notes, google drive, macbook , icloud drive . My PROJECTS folders have multiple project subfolders inside them. Similarly for AREAS , RESOURCES , ARCHIVES have multiple subfolders.
google drive (PARA) - because when i am at office we cannot connect to icloud drive.
icloud drive (PARA) - because i need to sync my documents in apple ecosystem.
Apple notes (PARA ) - because i keep all my notes there instead of Evernote.
Macbook (PARA) - because i am saving big size video files and photos locally in my macbook.
My Question is : Do i need to daily copy paste manually all the contents of my PROJECT subfolders to all the different PARA systems implemented ( eg : google drive, macbook, apple notes ,icloud drive) to maintain sync between them ? Please do reply. I am very confused on this PARA system.

This is one of the challenges of PARA. It is significantly easier if you can have everything in one system, otherwise it feels very fragmented (because it is).

@@BrandonKBoswell You know, I haven't made time to sit down with Obsidian of late. But I was really agonizing for a while on whether to get Scrintal or Napkin. But now that Obsidian has Canvas, no need for them (unfortunate for them). But from the videos I've watched, Canvas seems to now make Obsidian complete with everything you'd want in a note taking tool.

What is in areas folder. It was clear to me what goes in projects folder for example, but no idea about what should go in the areas folder. Will love to learn that organization workflow as it was the same folder in both of your organizers.
Thank you Brandon for this candid video.

This was a really inspiring interview from the both of you - hearing about your own personal preferences, workflow, and use-cases for a PKM system! I initially began using Obsidian to manage my school-based research and set of projects. I deeply resonated with the feeling of having to write notes that are "publishable" whereas that is not necessary as this is an internal system, so not every note will/needs to be viewed/understood by others.
I did have one question that I myself struggle a bit with (organization-wise): Do you prefer a single main vault where all your thoughts/ideas go into regardless of their context? For example, if I have a idea or a to-do item related to work, I would usually keep this within a "Work Vault" vs. my "Personal Vault" which isn't necessarily geared to work and more along the lines of personal development, etc.
Again, loved the video - lots of inspiration!

Thanks for reaching out Jacob! RE: work it’s going to depend on your situation. For me we have Notion at work so I put everything in there so that it’s available to my other team members. If I was running a small company or I didn’t think what I was sharing was helpful to others, I could totally see putting it into my Obsidian vault. At the end of the day vaults are just folders so if you put your work stuff in a separate folder that’s effectively the same thing.

@@BrandonKBoswell Thanks! I think this is a reasonable organization technique. I think my plan will be to use separate folders that collect the context-sensitive items such as to-dos, etc; and then use the Dataview plugin to collect the relevant information into my daily note, so I can keep the concepts logically separate yet still have them easily accessible from one view - especially since Dataview supports task lists very nicely!

This is helpful to me to refine my structure and flow. I have added "Persona" to the top level ad my personal customization. So now it is PPARA. I already have 3 personas in Google Chrome. Two at work and one for personal. I'm still trying to understand Areas. Possibly this crosses over with my Persona

@@BrandonKBoswell btw could you share a brief opinion about boox tab ultra c after using it for a while?
Im concerned about the weight (almost a kilo with the keyboard) and whether it's comfortable to write with the pen considering its on a thick side and some ppl note the sharp edges.
      Would be much appreciated
P.s. usecase: emails, taking notes including reviewing presentation materials (that's why i need colors) and occasional ebooks.
