They've had nearly a decade since HV's debut to figure out how to promote a girlgroup properly, but they're STILL failing with WeMe, even though having Doyeon and Yoojung's I.O.I popularity was literally a foot in the industry door before they even debuted. Like HOW are they still failing? TikiTaka is suuuuper popular in Korea but got zero promotion, Doyeon and Yoojung are both still active in the acting/reality show sphere but Fantagio never jumps on the momentum of that popularity to help boost a comeback. 'Cool' was super popular compared to their previous tracks, Fantagio should've been quick to push out another album while the hype was still there, but it's been almost eight months of silence. And it's not even like they're busy promoting Astro, the boys only have only had 1 group comeback this past year! Also, shockingly, Moonbin is technically the oldest employee under Fantagio, he's been there longer than ALL the staff (including the CEO, since the previous one got replaced), and I kinda think that speaks for itself. FanMu have literally no idea what they're doing.

Then in typical Pledis fashion when a girl group isn't immediately making millions, they gave up on the project and pulled out of the contract - so the girls who were signed under Pledis had to leave, and Fantagio had to replace them with new members. A lot of HV's initial struggles were because of Pledis being a terrible company that can't commit to the longterm success of their groups.

Yes, the original CEO got unfairly replaced by the new Chinese one, a lot of the employees were not happy about this but unfortunately couldn't do anything about it. Finally this year tho, the corrupt Chinese CEO got arrested for some illegal activities & that's why now they have yet another CEO. It's very upsetting that the original CEO got kicked out like that because of the corrupt shareholders. The artists & staff were all like family back then. The story goes deeper & it's really sad how it affected their artists during those times, it's like a drama.

HV are my all-time ult group, thank you for making this video! Fun fact: during the months before the release of "Mystery of Venus," Fantagio was promising fans that it would be a full album. But of course that didn't happen and we only got one new song. But it's very uncommon for less successful groups to get a full album, so I'm not surprised. I also thought it was so strange that half the girls changed their stage names after the group disbanded. It was like they were going into witness protection. I'm glad my bias Seoyoung kept her name. She and Yeoreum are so underrated! Seoyoung seems happy doing musicals but I'd love to see her in a drama or movie one day. Or coming back to music. Another fun fact: Yoonjo is still super close with the HV members and she has reunited with them several times.
Tbh, I was never fond of HELLOVENUS'es previous music style, the one they switched to after going strictly to Fantagio, was really good... I mean it is Brave Sound, they can't manage groups well, but damn do they make catchy songs!

I was really into Hello Venus when they first debuted, they were cute and I loved their songs. My favorite member back then was Yoo Ara so imagine my shock when she left! I'm glad Nara found success in acting and I hope the other girls also can achieve their goals.
WeMestro are my ults too! I actually got into Astro through HelloVenus, since the girls were in To Be Continued, and I looked into iTeen project right before their debut and found my home as an Aroha, and through stanning HV and Astro I got to see WeMe debut too. 'Mysterious' was such an epic comeback, but got terrible promotion, and HV never even got their own Vlive channel to speak to their fans, they had to use the Fantagio one (and they rarely got to do vlives compared to WeMe and Astro). The only saving grace was when Astro, WeMe and HV got to do that Christmas single together, the song and MV is so damn cute and an absolute bop, I'm still mad they didn't get to promote it as a special stage together. :(

During their debut until the two companies split, they did more of a cutesy concept since let’s face it, Ara and Yoonjo can’t do well in sexy concepts. But Pledis manage to get them noticed until they almost got bankrupt. Fantagio kept managing them but it didn’t really spark anything for them which is unfortunate. So far, Weki Meki has a great discrography but since there’s way too many groups, it’s hard to get notice. Moving back to Hello Venus, if only the company waited for Ara and Yoonjo to be let go from Pledis, they could recruit them and didn’t have member line up changes. I seriously think Yeoreum was perfect for Weki Meki since she was so young. The massive concept sexy change just didn’t get the old fans grasping attention since it’s like following a new girl group. Weki Meki manage to pull off girl crush concept and stayed that way often. I just think it’s unfortunate since they could make it and back then they were more known than Dal Shabet which was their biggest rival in terms of rookies. Personally, Mysterious was probably the only good song from Fantagio and I’m Ill was the second.
Some things to add as I know a couple of bits of information that might flesh out the situation, Ara wanted to act, that might sound strange because she was such a good singer but that was part of the reason she agreed to be in Hello Venus in the first place to take advantage of Fantagio's expertise as an acting company, however she didn't get much work during the collaboration and that may have been a factor why she didn't join Fantagio after she left Pledis, she did join Urban Works which is another specialist acting company which shows the direction she wanted her career to go in but that seems to not have worked out and she left to continue her studies. Yoonjo did an interview in early 2015 in which she explained she didn't want to be in another girl group and probably the reason why Pledis didn't do much for her because she limited her own career, after she left Pledis she joined Subline Artist Agency which at the time was an agency that specialised in modelling, today it seems to be more well rounded but that's what it did back then. Given that Yoonjo probably had a two year contract with Subline it tracks that she left in 2017 just before she joined The Unit to try and have another crack at being in another girl group, I guess she had a change of heart, interestingly she posted on her Instagram video's of her practicing for her audition to join The Unit and she was practicing in Pledis's practice room so she must still be on good terms with Pledis.
honestly joint company effort groups could give you enough content to make videos about for the rest of the year. they just never work 😭 cosmic girls are probably the most successful one but yuehua shipped the chinese members off to china and it's clear they're never going back to korea. they're basically a single company group now and yeah as for them never getting a full album... if you notice that's the case for most girl groups. they're good enough to churn out mini albums here and there (sometimes maybe even just single albums and an instrumental to that song, if they're lucky), but never worthy enough to expand their discography+artistry through full albums. try looking into jyp groups for this example. that would be a nice video topic too!
I’m kinda worried for everglow already and who knows what’ll happen when they debut Tempest (upcoming boygroup). I hope Hanbin will be ok and I know he’ll be the one that makes his group popular due to being on I land and being the first ever male Vietnamese idol in kpop
This video was very informative especially since I didn't know much about Hello Venus but I remembered I saw their debut MV 'Venus' and 'Sticky Sticky' on a compilation somewhere on RUclips before, I didn't know NU'EST and pre-debut SVT made cameos in 'Venus'. It really sucks how they were treated and I agree being Pledis wouldn't have been any better than being in fantagio it probably would've been worse 💚

My favorite song by them is What Are You Doing Today?, although Wiggle Wiggle and I'm Ill are a v close second. They rly don't make 'em like this anymore. Pledis being Pledis and Fantagio being inexperienced with idol groups did not help obviously. Then the long hiatus and member changes happened, and when the girls finally came back - everyone was doing the more mature concepts. Instead of setting the trend or bringing something outstanding to the table, their management had Hello Venus try to follow the current trends, and it didn't work out. That being said, I remember seeing HV promote Venus on shows, and I've been somewhat excited for most of their comebacks. I still enjoy I'm Ill and Would You Like Some Tea?, while Wiggle Wiggle (a song that I liked back then) makes me cringe a bit now, lol.
Hello Venus was on a path to greatness, it's unfortunate the companies split up the group. That being said, I feel like Yoonjo didn't fit the same vibe as the rest of the group. I was hoping upon her return after her injury that she would show us amazing vocals and expressions, but she was just another member once she rejoined. Thank you for making this video! I've been a Hello Cupid since their debut and I feel that if they were given the proper chance, they could become more popular. I was questioning Fantagio's decision when they changed their concept to a more mature one, and they could've also given them better songs. I think they suited the fresh summer-y concept like Paradise and Glow, but too bad Fantagio sucked at promoting them.

I was a pledis stan so I supported HV but the switch to fantagio only was a blessing for their music style. I wish they had gotten more love for Wiggle Wiggle it is a BOP. After their disbandment I was shopping at Daiso in Seoul and heard 난 예슬이야 on the radio it was sad but also a happy moment for me. They truly deserved more.
Hello Venus was the first girl group I followed from debut & I admittedly love both concepts they promoted. My most precious k-pop album that I own is a signed copy of I'm Ill that I won from a competition on Arirang radio that I entered just to get it 😅

I know Hello Venus because I stan their labelmates Astro. Fantagio clearly wants to put most of their focus on what is the most popular (Astro was and still is). But also, you can't expect something to be popular with minimum effort. Astro have deserved their full albums and they haven't had a completely smooth ride either but the fact that Weki Meki don't still have their own full album pisses me off. They get a lot of singles and not a lot of side tracks so I feel like their discography is small even after soon 4 years. But about Hello Venus' disbandment, it might've been because Fantagio basically almost went to bankruptcy in 2018. I'm surprised they could hold up the monthly project that year. Even Astro only got a special mini album that year with no promotions, and the comeback date was delayed. Fantagio desperately held the company and their most popular groups intact, and clearly had no room for a group that didn't profit them anymore...it makes me sad, but maybe the girls are happier this way. I haven't listened to their music a lot but I liked their songs in the FM 20.18 project and I regularly listen to Mysterious! That song is a masterpiece, also the mv and the shiny jackets 👌🏻👌🏻

I first got to know about Hello Venus after I watched Nara in an LGBTQ+ movie called *"Fantasy of the Girls"* . Trust me, it's a great movie and I salute Nara for playing a Lesbian while she's in a society as homophobic and closed minded as Korea.

I was really into Hello Venus when they first debuted, they were cute and I loved their songs. My favorite member back then was Yoo Ara so imagine my shock when she left! I'm glad Nara found success in acting and I hope the other girls also can achieve their goals.

WeMestro are my ults too! I actually got into Astro through HelloVenus, since the girls were in To Be Continued, and I looked into iTeen project right before their debut and found my home as an Aroha, and through stanning HV and Astro I got to see WeMe debut too. 'Mysterious' was such an epic comeback, but got terrible promotion, and HV never even got their own Vlive channel to speak to their fans, they had to use the Fantagio one (and they rarely got to do vlives compared to WeMe and Astro).
The only saving grace was when Astro, WeMe and HV got to do that Christmas single together, the song and MV is so damn cute and an absolute bop, I'm still mad they didn't get to promote it as a special stage together. :(

During their debut until the two companies split, they did more of a cutesy concept since let’s face it, Ara and Yoonjo can’t do well in sexy concepts. But Pledis manage to get them noticed until they almost got bankrupt. Fantagio kept managing them but it didn’t really spark anything for them which is unfortunate. So far, Weki Meki has a great discrography but since there’s way too many groups, it’s hard to get notice.
Moving back to Hello Venus, if only the company waited for Ara and Yoonjo to be let go from Pledis, they could recruit them and didn’t have member line up changes. I seriously think Yeoreum was perfect for Weki Meki since she was so young.
The massive concept sexy change just didn’t get the old fans grasping attention since it’s like following a new girl group. Weki Meki manage to pull off girl crush concept and stayed that way often. I just think it’s unfortunate since they could make it and back then they were more known than Dal Shabet which was their biggest rival in terms of rookies. Personally, Mysterious was probably the only good song from Fantagio and I’m Ill was the second.
Some things to add as I know a couple of bits of information that might flesh out the situation, Ara wanted to act, that might sound strange because she was such a good singer but that was part of the reason she agreed to be in Hello Venus in the first place to take advantage of Fantagio's expertise as an acting company, however she didn't get much work during the collaboration and that may have been a factor why she didn't join Fantagio after she left Pledis, she did join Urban Works which is another specialist acting company which shows the direction she wanted her career to go in but that seems to not have worked out and she left to continue her studies.
Yoonjo did an interview in early 2015 in which she explained she didn't want to be in another girl group and probably the reason why Pledis didn't do much for her because she limited her own career, after she left Pledis she joined Subline Artist Agency which at the time was an agency that specialised in modelling, today it seems to be more well rounded but that's what it did back then.
Given that Yoonjo probably had a two year contract with Subline it tracks that she left in 2017 just before she joined The Unit to try and have another crack at being in another girl group, I guess she had a change of heart, interestingly she posted on her Instagram video's of her practicing for her audition to join The Unit and she was practicing in Pledis's practice room so she must still be on good terms with Pledis.
honestly joint company effort groups could give you enough content to make videos about for the rest of the year. they just never work 😭 cosmic girls are probably the most successful one but yuehua shipped the chinese members off to china and it's clear they're never going back to korea. they're basically a single company group now
and yeah as for them never getting a full album... if you notice that's the case for most girl groups. they're good enough to churn out mini albums here and there (sometimes maybe even just single albums and an instrumental to that song, if they're lucky), but never worthy enough to expand their discography+artistry through full albums. try looking into jyp groups for this example. that would be a nice video topic too!
I’m kinda worried for everglow already and who knows what’ll happen when they debut Tempest (upcoming boygroup). I hope Hanbin will be ok and I know he’ll be the one that makes his group popular due to being on I land and being the first ever male Vietnamese idol in kpop
This video was very informative especially since I didn't know much about Hello Venus but I remembered I saw their debut MV 'Venus' and 'Sticky Sticky' on a compilation somewhere on RUclips before, I didn't know NU'EST and pre-debut SVT made cameos in 'Venus'. It really sucks how they were treated and I agree being Pledis wouldn't have been any better than being in fantagio it probably would've been worse 💚

I'm no on my phone so no emojis here (lol) but I think Hello Venus were pretty unlucky. When they debuted, many "cute" girl groups debuted so they were simply one out of 100. Pledis being Pledis and Fantagio being inexperienced with idol groups did not help obviously.
Then the long hiatus and member changes happened, and when the girls finally came back - everyone was doing the more mature concepts. Instead of setting the trend or bringing something outstanding to the table, their management had Hello Venus try to follow the current trends, and it didn't work out.
That being said, I remember seeing HV promote Venus on shows, and I've been somewhat excited for most of their comebacks. I still enjoy I'm Ill and Would You Like Some Tea?, while Wiggle Wiggle (a song that I liked back then) makes me cringe a bit now, lol.
It all went downhill when pledis dropped them and just had them go under fantagio

That being said, I feel like Yoonjo didn't fit the same vibe as the rest of the group. I was hoping upon her return after her injury that she would show us amazing vocals and expressions, but she was just another member once she rejoined.

Thank you for making this video! I've been a Hello Cupid since their debut and I feel that if they were given the proper chance, they could become more popular. I was questioning Fantagio's decision when they changed their concept to a more mature one, and they could've also given them better songs. I think they suited the fresh summer-y concept like Paradise and Glow, but too bad Fantagio sucked at promoting them.

I was a pledis stan so I supported HV but the switch to fantagio only was a blessing for their music style. I wish they had gotten more love for Wiggle Wiggle it is a BOP. After their disbandment I was shopping at Daiso in Seoul and heard 난 예슬이야 on the radio it was sad but also a happy moment for me. They truly deserved more.
Hello Venus was the first girl group I followed from debut & I admittedly love both concepts they promoted.
My most precious k-pop album that I own is a signed copy of I'm Ill that I won from a competition on Arirang radio that I entered just to get it 😅

I originally discovered Hello Venus with the song I'm ill, I'm a huge EDM gg kpop fan, and that song is one of my forever top favorites, I didn't knew they sold less with the sexy concept, I had the wrong idea that sold more than their cute concept. As always another case of companies treating girl groups as second dish, makes me so mad.

I know Hello Venus because I stan their labelmates Astro. Fantagio clearly wants to put most of their focus on what is the most popular (Astro was and still is). But also, you can't expect something to be popular with minimum effort. Astro have deserved their full albums and they haven't had a completely smooth ride either but the fact that Weki Meki don't still have their own full album pisses me off. They get a lot of singles and not a lot of side tracks so I feel like their discography is small even after soon 4 years. But about Hello Venus' disbandment, it might've been because Fantagio basically almost went to bankruptcy in 2018. I'm surprised they could hold up the monthly project that year. Even Astro only got a special mini album that year with no promotions, and the comeback date was delayed. Fantagio desperately held the company and their most popular groups intact, and clearly had no room for a group that didn't profit them anymore...it makes me sad, but maybe the girls are happier this way. I haven't listened to their music a lot but I liked their songs in the FM 20.18 project and I regularly listen to Mysterious! That song is a masterpiece, also the mv and the shiny jackets 👌🏻👌🏻

I like both phases of Hello venus, they sing and dance well, the charisma is outstanding, and they could have been bigger on SK and Asia. The sexy concept wasnt an issue bc that time many ggs tried "twerk style" like wassup but cmon lack of a decent music video and comfortable outfits, lack of promotions, lack of effort from pledis and later fantagio, members changes. The girls disappeared a lot too in both companies like you mention
