      I use Morgen Calendar it basically does the same thing as Akiflow, for me and I don’t have to pay an expensive fee.

    I used to have a basic week plan with something assigned to each day. Then my kids grew up, my husband died, and it's just me. It is VERY hard to set a routine unless it's for doctor appointments or something. I try to plan, but then I usually have a health setback that ruins those plans. It's very defeating. So, I just have to get up the next day and start over again, hoping to make progress.

      My mom went through the same thing. It’s very hard and I’m sorry for your loss. She doesn’t have a rigid schedule. I don’t think that works for everyone. But you could try having at least a morning routine and night routine (this will help you emotionally and health wise to have a rhythm) and core things you do daily but be flexible on time. The key is having flexibility. But do the core things you know you can’t give up (ie working out and consistent sleeping times). Don’t let your emotions decide what you do, it’s easy to fall into depression 😔 Anyway wishing you the best!

      Thank you, everyone, for your thoughts and advice. I am trying to recover from colitis and got my medication late, so I'm back to square 1. It will be about 6 weeks, they say before this treatment runs its course. However, I will be reading these comments over and over for inspiration.

    Really good, yes blocking is the way to go for sure. And i have tried more than 3 blocks, as many as 5 or 6....and it's too much...3 is a good max and i love the honesty....maybe only 2 actually get done - but the DO get done. Awesome.

    "I'll get more work done after the kids go to bed." is a lie I tell myself more often than I like. Thanks for being honest about that part.

      It's okay if it's true as long as you're honest with yourself and learn from it! Our bodies are friggin' tired at the end of the day. That's not totally unreasonable!

      I've been guilty of telling myself this as well. It almost never happens. After dinner, dishes, and bedtime routines, I'm completely tapped out!

    I often think when I see you, it would be easier for me to return to a normal life in a house. Traveling full-time I always have some challenges. Most of them are driving time and internet problems. It’s very annoying because I can’t really do anything about it except give up and return to living a house. I wonder if there’s anything I could do while driving… (except listening to audiobooks, podcasts, phoning a friend) Have a great day 👋

    I keep trying to use tools like this, but corporate email is locked down & they don’t allow you to load software onto your work computer, so work and personal tasks are separately tracked. It’s a disaster, because I never have my work calendar handy when I’m at the doctor, for example, and it never fails that the ONLY appointment available for something in two months is the EXACT day some meeting is happening. I always wonder how people who have normal W-2 office jobs manage to do this.

      You should be able to export your work calendar or link it to your Google calendar. I forget how I did this, but it worked a few years ago. You still have to use their email client, but at least you can view your schedule.

      Completely get this! I have my work calendar on my phone and am working on integrating my Google calendar into the same place. Still a WIP but it's getting there.

    Do you calendar block for yourself and kids together? trying to meld our routines into something cohesive is SO difficult!

    • @AmyTV
      @AmyTV  3 месяца назад +3

      Totally get that. I block everyone's life if they live with me haha. Sometimes it's cohesive. Sometimes it goes awry. But we just gotta do what we can to the best of our ability! Anything specific about this that you struggle with?

    Once you have a few kids life is forced into time blocking!!

    I would rather you were playing with your child at the park than sending them to daycare to be raised by strangers while sitting on the computer all day for "work". To me you'd be more fulfilled spending the whole day with your kids and then making a quick video on the weekend while your husband has the kids. You'd save sooo much money in fees too!!

      @@AmyTV my fixed schedule is the work hours and I struggle to be able to use the in between time I have because I'm thinking I have to be back to work 🥲 it exhausts me. I can never finish what I begin

    • @christina187
      @christina187 Месяц назад +1

      split shifts suck, I would focus on getting rid of those first. because I can imagine you drive 2 times a day to work and 2 times a day from work. that can't be it. Even if that means you have to get another job.
