OK @5:05 it says remove the electrical connection but you can't see what tab you're pushing or how to disconnect it. That's currently the only thing preventing me from removing the valve and I can NOT get it off or see where the tab or whatever is located. How do I get this thing off?
@@UseTool_EN It was a bit different to this video - mine has a metal intake pipe which is much easier to remove although those metal catches either end required 2 screwdrivers wedged in to get them off. The wiring loom box directly above the EGR didn't require removal at all in the end but the cable beneath it did - on mine the plastic tab was on the opposite side so an absolute pig to get off because you can't see anything so just have to stab at it with a big flathead and hope for the best! Getting the valve off after that and cleaning it was easy, although sadly didn't fix my engine light.
If you're lucky like I was (11 years, 200,000 km), the valve might not be stuck at all, in which case this job is a lot easier. I would suggest loosening the two bolts holding the valve in place (the rear one is a bit fiddly but not too hard) to see if you can move it. In that case, you just have to remove the pipe and loosen things surrounding it to create enough room to pull it out.
You don't need to change it. You just need to clean it with an oven cleaner (foam are more effective). And you can also disassemble it and lubricate the gears....

Wow, I normally struggle to get good videos about the 1.6 but this is excellent. Gonna try removing and cleaning it this afternoon :)
Thanks a lot @sonicwingnut ! I hope the operation went well 👌
