Lautersee is a lake in Oberbayern, Bavaria, Germany. At an elevation of 1013 m, its surface area is 0.146 km². It is situated on the southern slope of the Hoher Kranzberg above Mittenwald.

Lautersee is a beautiful alpine lake located approximately 3 KM from Mittenwald. You can access the lake via bus/auto, bicycle, or walking and choose a variety of different roads/trails based upon your fitness level. For a list of trails, stop at the visitor center in town.

I explored the lake on a weekday in mid-June and did not find the lake to be overrun with visitors. Quite the contrary, I achieved a measure of serenity alone the shoreline.
