    Great Q&A video. Making cloth fascinates me because doing so is about the most human activity I can do. I’m even interested in learning about artifacts found within archaeological sites that have textiles or the tools used. Love that nerdy stuff.

    My sister made that same comment when I told her I was going to weave dish towels; that I had found cotton warp for only $15.00. She said, Nancy, you could buy a whole stack at dollar general for less than that. I gave her one of my handwoven towels. I don’t know if that answered her question. Love your Sad Flower analogy!

    Yay for embroidery machines! I think I've embroidered on nearly every t-shirt I have - well at least until I got side tracked with knitting and spinning lol! I can't imagine my life without being a 'maker'. Gives me such joy. I'll likely never be an artist who paints or draws (have tried) but I never know what I will get the urge to take up next! And yes, granny squares are not my thing!

    Hi Trish, I have watched this video (Your Questions about Dyeing Wool, Spinning Laceweight, Buttons, Sweaters, My Yarn Swift and more!) a few times because, well to be honest, I forget your answers to the questions. any way, you were explaining how to lower twist when spinning. This was very helpful to me, so thanks.
    I do have a Q about bobbins. In your 5th or 6th video on "beginning spinning" you talked about how to load a bobbin on the flyer and how to place the drive band onto the bobbin and whorl. You mentioned that a bobbin (most of the time) has a small end and a large end. I am wondering what the large end of bobbin would be used for, why it is there in the first place, if it would never be used? that was a long way around my Q, huh? sorry ;~} thanks a bunch.

    • @FiberLoveDiary
      @FiberLoveDiary  8 месяцев назад

      It depends on your wheel and bobbins. But in the bobbins I was showing, I can spin them around and use the larger end with a bigger whorl to spin much slower, which is nice for a thicker yarn

    That Swedish Chef bit made me laugh so loud. OMG.
    In place of the mylar sheets, I have started using slats from blinds. Venetian blinds? Anyway. I was able to get two full boxes of them off of Facebook marketplace for like 10 bucks.
    I totally went into a golden girls flashback when he started telling the story of you and John meeting. “Picture it….Sicily….1910….” I love hearing those kinds of stories, injures was great. There are so many parallels between yours and John’s and me and Dan’s, it’s really funny.
    Happy happy anniversary!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

    Awwwwwwh I loved hearing about how you and John met, you glowed while telling it! And I understand your sentiments about granny squares....so many garments made with them too it seems like they are everywhere haha. I am planning on making some muted ones with a cotton chenille yarn into an afghan for my son because he wants one and I am hoping it goes by fast because it is certainly not a passion project...the yarn is lovely though!

    I think we ARE from the same long ago genetic pool! I HATE granny squares too! Same with the color red, but that is my moms favorite color, so since I love my mom, I make stuff in red for her and hate it the whole time. I also have to try all the things instead of buying them. And, thrive to be unique. I like the way I am, how boring would life be if we were all the same! Love your energy and appreciate you and the time you spend making videos. 💜

    That is such a sweet love story, ❤❤. I bought the Clemes & Clemes Elite Convertable Drum Carder, but I didn’t get it electric. Figured if I wanted to go that route I could get the motor later. The way they made it I dont need two drums for different fineness of fiber, and the tines are longer so it holds more fiber. I have enjoyed it so far.
