I think it was the president of the Ford Anglia club in UK in the late '80 (a quite young man) who said he was not worried by the prices of older cars rising (remember in those years there was the "Ferrari bubble" and we were just starting feeling that was not a bubble but a tendency that would have involved also much more proletarian cars) and he said that we had no reason to worry for the moment, for the real end of the world would have come when it would have been not the passionate guy anymore able to afford the car he loved but only the businness man with no knowledge and no heart. He thought it would have been impossible, while that moment came, and much sooner than anyone of us could have feared.
I have the 1961 Corgi Major toy model of this , beautiful model loads of detail . also have the Lotus BRM and Vanwall racing cars that go with it . wouldn't mind the real one though lol
"Ive been with it for 30 years, its a big old lump that smokes like a pig...." "Ill give you 1.6 million for it"...... ......if only divorces worked that way......
This superb vehicle was at RETROMOBILE PARIS this year.February 2024......Alongside wonderful Stylish Italian Race car transporters.....All Positively Loinstirring......
What a absolutely fantastic car transporter it sounded so very sweet, it's just a great sham it did not stay in the uk I wish i could of had a walk around the commer and hear the TS3 i have driven a commer maxie tiper truck with the 2 stroke in it and my goodness that was a fantastic truck to drive so this would of been a dream come true to of had the opportunity to of seen it in the flesh.
In the past fortunate enough to have been in the cab area. The then owners were extremely friendly. How come I saw it last year 2019 at the Goodwood Revival? No one was around it at the time so no one to ask. Nice to still see it though.
I ran some trucks with this engine - the Commer Maxi. The engine was good and light and reliable. They would on rare occasions start backwards and run, the blower drive shaft would also break if the engine was over run downhill Bodgy
It has been bought by an American and I understand that it will go there eventually, but for the time being I think it's still in the UK. I wouldn't be surprised if the owner sold it again before it was due to go Stateside.
Whoever is driving it is continually "slipping" the clutch staring out and between shifts. Neat ole transporter, though... I'll bet it was "hard" to let it go after so many years of ownership..... like losing a close family member.
@somerandomgoogleuser3374 of course it's a 2t...but.. its a diesel 2t, there's no oil mixture, it just uses diesel like any 4t engine. That's blue smoke, it's burning oil.
No sound like the commercial ts3. Pure magic

Legendary Collection
That collection would look nice in the Scottish transport museum

Was it built on a coach chassis, or a QX truck chassis?
As someone else has said, it was the engine which was TS3, not the truck model.
A friend bought it back from a Paris auction today unsold its currently living in battle east Sussex
The TS3 is the engine, by the way, not the truck.
Powered by the amazing Tilling-Stevens designed two stroke opposed piston supercharged diesel engine.

Bodgy
Incorrect - designed and developed by Eric Coy & team at Humber Works, for Commer & Karrier range, Rootes Grp BEFORE they acquired Tilling.
Also not 'supercharged' - the blower was for exhaust scavenging.
Saw it yesterday 2nd May '15 at Donington Classic, what a machine. (thought it was going to US though?)

This shows how little money is worth to some people and how unequal they are divided.

Knocker needs a rebuild, it shouldn't be burning oil like that.
Correct
They're Two Strokes.... remember???

@@Draxindustries1 diesel is oil. And they all smoke.
@Kaspertube513
Yes diesel is an oil but a well set up diesel with correct timing, clean injectors and unworn injection pump a diesel won't smoke .
