Thanks for this video. I have to at some point do the same sort of thing with my XJS (diff whine, handbrake calipers not working etc etc...). Pretty daunting but this is really helpful.
Great indepth video wonder if you can help. I need to replace rotors, amongst other things I'll find during disassembly, on a 1967 xj6. Can you provide torque specs or where I can find them for the irs? Thank you!
Great video, Thanks. A question. Would it not be easier to fit the discs and brakes (and even the halfshafts) to the diff before fixing the diff into the cage? I am about to put my IRS together and I remember having a right old time getting the brakes off with the cage around the diff.
Thanks Chris. I found it easy to fit the discs and half shafts with the diff already in the cage but I can see how fitting them first might have some advantages. Getting them off, particularly when they're old and corroded would definitely be a lot easier with the frame out of the way. I didn't strip it that way this time (see earlier episodes) but probably would next time for that reason. I have a '63 mk10 to work on after the E-Type so I'll keep that in mind!
No need to shout! 😅I assume you're referring to the ones on the inboard end of the wishbones. Thanks for pointing that out. You can guess what I'm going to do if I find that I can't get a grease gun on them?
Agree with you, Ben and the guys at simply performance are really useful to know
Absolutely, they’ve been helping with my XJ12 too (please see one of my other videos).
Very informative video of the IRS.
Thank you 😊
I’m rebuilding the IRS on my ‘87 XJS and this has been very helpful! Thanks so much, from TX.
Great to hear, thank you! I hope the rebuild goes well! All the best from the UK!
Great Video!!
Glad you enjoyed it - thank you

Thank you. I’m sure you can get those things sorted. Glad this is of use. ☺️
So very helpful many thanks
Great to hear, thank Peter!
Great work, very informative, but I will stick with paying my nearby Jaguar classic car specialist for anything similar on my e type
Thanks David, having a good local Jaguar specialist that you trust is a great thing to have.

You were right Chris. You can, just, put the brake calipers on after the diff is in the frame, but it’s tricky!
I wonder if all the hot rodders back in the 80s did this amount of refurbishment ; )
Haha, yes good question! So many old Jags (S-Types in particular) have been sacrificed for their IRS!
Very nice E Jag coupe 1963?
It’s a late series 1 from 1967
WRONG GREASE NIPPLES , you will not be able to get the grease gun connector on those , YOU NEED THE STRAIGHT NIPPLES .
