Goodness, I haven't seen this model in decades! Yes, here in the US we got this as the Nissan Sentra, trim levels being XE and possibly SE, it has been so long ago that I'm not quite actually sure! High sill height is typical from the time period as well as the steering wheel stalks and HVAC controls! What a throwback! I do hope you return to do a proper review and road test!
Well sir, we may have some more B12 Sunny/Sentra action coming up soon, so brace yourself! The controls are very typical of Japanese cars of this era and quite charming these days.
No problem at all, I drove some of the other Nissans in the owner's collection on the same day, I think that those videos are in the description if you are interested...
We certainly were, this now looks like an absolute classic, although there was a while when they were very low in value and not of particular interest to anyone. Fortunately, those days are mostly over now...
Considering the age and mileage that is in amazing condition. I really like the styling these were incredibly popular around where I lived at the time, thank you for another stellar review sir.
That is stunning! 😎 These Sunny coupes are like origami on wheels to me. I would love something like this. 😀 Interesting black glossy bumpers. Works well with the red paintwork.
Well sir, we aim to please! The Sunny range at this time consisted of three completely separate platforms, which is incredibly confusing... The black glossy bumpers are not something I remember seeing elsewhere.
Great video! An RE teacher at my school had rather a tatty looking white one of these in the mid 90s. I think it was the same model, though hers had the original plastic wheel trims (which were actually pretty 80s looking in themselves). This was also the car driven by Tracey from Birds of a Feather in one of the early series. Hers was a rather nice shade of dark metallic grey/ brown and there is footage of her driving it in a couple of episodes. I actually have an original brochure for the Sunny range which includes the coupe. Always loved the 'light bar' effect at the back, and those shiny black plastic bumpers never seemed to fade. Why didn't other manufacturers use them? Also a fan of the oversized rear numberplate. Having owned a 2006 Hyundai Coupe, I lament the lack of coupes on the market today. Why is everyone obsessed with SUVs?! I hope coupes make a comeback! Thanks for this slice of classic late 80s nostalgia; Nissan at its best.
Yes, I have seen some pictures of the one from Birds of a Feather. You are right, same specification as this one, although with those original steel wheels. If you liked this video, then I have two other ones on cars in the 1986-1991 Sunny range, an N13 Sunny Saloon on No Budget Reviews and a B12 Sunny Estate on Sensible Secondhand Classics. The light bar and shiny black bumpers are certainly interesting, the coupé market is almost non-existent now, sadly.... Thank you ever so much indeed for watching!
Had almost forgotten these amongst other Japanese coupe and sports cars of the time. I really like this, perhaps one of the most sensible cars in this class with elegant lines. Good to see what looks to be very origional which is unusually for anything remotely sporty and Japanese from that era. I can still remember Tracey from Birds of a Feather driving one of these.
Oh sir, I have just uploaded another car from Stuart's collection, and we are only just over halfway through... It is very original indeed, and probably is quite sensible for a car like this. I do like the lines on it.
Was of course poo pooed at the time by Motoring Journalists ( they who should be ignored) . I must be very weird because I loved the sharp edged coupe looks. Those chunky seats look very sporty and the dash is excellent. Have travelled in a Colt Cordia Coupe which looked similar on the inside. Very underappreciated Nissan. Love it Sir.
I think a lot of people like the way this car looks these days. The N13 Sunny, although unrelated in terms of its platform, also had much the same sort of design language, as did the other B12 Sunny variants. Funny how public opinion changes!
Another ‘Nissan’ blast from the Past. Beautifully kept car. This car proves, Mileage means nothing, it’s how a car is maintained. Much better looking & proportioned than the previous generation coupe ( my opinion )
@@lloydvehicleconsulting Yes they are indeed quite rare it's a grey 89 plate GSX. I have only four Rovers in total now. Two SD1s a 83 plate S and a 86 plate vanden plas and two mk1 827 Fastbacks the SLi and Vitesse.

Yes, really rare to see a car in this category sold new now. Must have interesting to have a friend from boarding school who owned one of these! In the early 2000s, they wouldn't have had a great deal of value. More to come from this collection over the next ten days or so!
Ohhh a VERY rare beast in New Zealand. Only ever seen one here - probably a used import. Strange that they were not common here, given that previous generation Sunny and Cherry coupes did wonders in the New Zealand race and rally scene in the 1970s and 1980s. I think that they were sold - and rallied - in South Africa though. Thanks.
Oh sir, I did want to have a go in this one was well, but with no MOT, it was not going to happen. Not common at all over here at all either! Datsun/Nissan must have been huge in New Zealand in the 1980s.

planning on restoring a nissan sunny gsx as i inherited it from a relative, i noticed you mentioned manual windows however mine has electric windows but manual mirrors, just wondering if you knew anything on this?
Thank you for watching and commenting! The electric windows could have been an option, or the car may just be a later model year (this is a really early one), and thus fitted with them as standard. That is my best guess anyway...
Rusting frames where there is salt on the streets are a big problem. So keep it clean. Most important for these engines, they can't sustain any fault in the cooling system and every 10.000 km they need an oil change. With that they can go forever.
