Goodness, I haven't seen this model in decades! Yes, here in the US we got this as the Nissan Sentra, trim levels being XE and possibly SE, it has been so long ago that I'm not quite actually sure!
High sill height is typical from the time period as well as the steering wheel stalks and HVAC controls! What a throwback!
I do hope you return to do a proper review and road test!

    • @lloydvehicleconsulting
      @lloydvehicleconsulting  3 года назад +2

Well sir, we may have some more B12 Sunny/Sentra action coming up soon, so brace yourself! The controls are very typical of Japanese cars of this era and quite charming these days.

Was of course poo pooed at the time by Motoring Journalists ( they who should be ignored) .
I must be very weird because I loved the sharp edged coupe looks. Those chunky seats look very sporty and the dash is excellent. Have travelled in a Colt Cordia Coupe which looked similar on the inside.
Very underappreciated Nissan. Love it Sir.

I think a lot of people like the way this car looks these days. The N13 Sunny, although unrelated in terms of its platform, also had much the same sort of design language, as did the other B12 Sunny variants. Funny how public opinion changes!

Great video! An RE teacher at my school had rather a tatty looking white one of these in the mid 90s. I think it was the same model, though hers had the original plastic wheel trims (which were actually pretty 80s looking in themselves). This was also the car driven by Tracey from Birds of a Feather in one of the early series. Hers was a rather nice shade of dark metallic grey/ brown and there is footage of her driving it in a couple of episodes. I actually have an original brochure for the Sunny range which includes the coupe. Always loved the 'light bar' effect at the back, and those shiny black plastic bumpers never seemed to fade. Why didn't other manufacturers use them? Also a fan of the oversized rear numberplate. Having owned a 2006 Hyundai Coupe, I lament the lack of coupes on the market today. Why is everyone obsessed with SUVs?! I hope coupes make a comeback! Thanks for this slice of classic late 80s nostalgia; Nissan at its best.

    • @lloydvehicleconsulting
      @lloydvehicleconsulting  3 года назад +1

Yes, I have seen some pictures of the one from Birds of a Feather. You are right, same specification as this one, although with those original steel wheels. If you liked this video, then I have two other ones on cars in the 1986-1991 Sunny range, an N13 Sunny Saloon on No Budget Reviews and a B12 Sunny Estate on Sensible Secondhand Classics. The light bar and shiny black bumpers are certainly interesting, the coupé market is almost non-existent now, sadly.... Thank you ever so much indeed for watching!

    • @Flofutz

Another ‘Nissan’ blast from the Past. Beautifully kept car. This car proves, Mileage means nothing, it’s how a car is maintained. Much better looking & proportioned than the previous generation coupe ( my opinion )

Had almost forgotten these amongst other Japanese coupe and sports cars of the time. I really like this, perhaps one of the most sensible cars in this class with elegant lines. Good to see what looks to be very origional which is unusually for anything remotely sporty and Japanese from that era.
I can still remember Tracey from Birds of a Feather driving one of these.

I remember somebody I was at Boarding School with whose parents had one of these Sunny Coupes. Second hand I'm guessing cos this was the early 00's. Its a shame there's not much of a demand for Coupes these days apart from the Toyota GT86 & the Subaru one that's built on the same chassis. The majority of them were very pretty cars.

Rusting frames where there is salt on the streets are a big problem.
      So keep it clean.
Leaky rear lights become a problem but are easy to fix, since the lighs them selves are good, only the seal to the car body need to be replaced.
The E16 engine models need valve clearence check every 20.000 km
0.28 mm for both inlet and outlet valves.
Most important for these engines, they can't sustain any fault in the cooling system and every 10.000 km they need an oil change.
With that they can go forever.

I have two of them.... comming down form 22.
The E16 engines where the snappiest Engines nissan ever made.
The EFI variant that we got over here in germany though having only 73HP had tourqe in plenty supply.
The early 1986 to 88 GTI varinat had a 1.6DE type engine with basically the same tourqe and 110 hp.
The later GTI variant had the 1.8 liter DE type engines with 125 HP and more tourqe.

The 1.8GTI variant is now down to about 20 registered in Germany so i never see another one....

@@lloydvehicleconsulting Here Nissan made it a bit confusig with nelames and types.
If it was a nissan in the late 80ies to mid 90ies it was either a Sunny or a Micra
      Regardless of it beeing a B11, B12, or N14, N15.....
Getting parts for the Coupe is always fun...
However Your video is, i think the first really informative and correct piece out here on YT on this model.
Most others confuse them or only mention them as a side note at best.
      Thank you for that.
And last but not least, there is a position in the back of the car wich makes it ok to sit there.
Each knee has to be on either side of the seat in front of you and the Head needs to be behind the roof apolstery.... sounds hillarious but works quite well.
