Right? There was nothing in childhood so bad that homemade cookies couldn't fix. My mom made Tollhouse of course, but also peanut butter just like shown plus that with a Hershey's Kiss in the middle. Those were good!
Then Christmas time was cookie factory mode. Never raisins.
Google Nestlé Tollhouse, chocolate chip cookie recipe. If you buy the ingredients you can make the dough in less than ten minutes. If you are lazy dont bother making little ones, just spread the dough on a buttered pizza tray and make one big cookie. Amazing. Easy, cheap and awesome. A little more than 15 minutes start to finish.
Rice krispies from the store are NOT the same as homemade. Taste is totally different imo.

cookies are easy to make at home! They aren't that hard to make--I'm sure you could make a basic chocolate chip cookie.
1 cup peanut butter
1 cup sugar
1egg
1 teaspoon of vanilla
Roll balls of dough in sugar, press down with a fork, bake at 350° for 10 minutes.
Very simple cookie recipe. You will need to convert the temp and measurements. And you can add in a handful of chocolate chips if you'd like.
You're supposed to torch the marshmallow a bit with fire for the s'mores.
I used to do mine over the stove. 😍
Pro tip- if the chocolate isn't melting because it's too cold, break it into chunks & stick it into the melted marshmallow once you've got it onto the cracker. Mmmm.😊

Homemade cookies are way better than store bought. Store bought are convenient
Brownies were invented in 1892 as a portable dessert to be sold at the Columbian Exposition (World's Fair). They were made by the chef at Chicago's Palmer House hotel at the request of Mrs. Potter Palmer.
In the US, the word "cookie" comes from the original Dutch settlers in New York State. They baked "little cakes" called "kuchen". Most supermarkets and convenience stores have tubes of cookie dough in the refrigerator section. You just open the tube, cut the dough into small pieces, put them on a cookie sheet, and pop them in the oven. 20 minutes later, you have warm, fresh cookies. One company sells three types of Ready-to-Bake Cookies : Sugar Cookies; Chocolate Chip Cookies; and Reese's Peanut Butter Cookies.
I will say, near the end, they really started painting in broad strokes. Depending on where you are, some pies are going to be a lot more popular than others. Some flavors like apple and cherry are kind of ubiquitous, but flavors like peach and rhubarb are more popular in the South. There are some pies that are seasonal, as well, such as sweet potato and pumpkin being popular in November, because they're a traditional dessert for Thanksgiving. Some are even regional more depending on the kind of area you live in. Blackberry is quite popular in a lot of rural areas, because blackberry bushes are so prolific and produce so well, that most people probably have a bunch of blackberry bushes growing on their property.
Also, I'm not sure how they lumped crumbles in with pies, but didn't mention cobbler. Cobbler is kind of like a crumble, but the top is more like a shortcake. And if a crumble is "close enough" to a pie, so is a cobbler.
Sorbet is fruit juices. Sherbert is the same with cream added. I think I prefer sherbert. Raspberry sherbert preferably
Rice Krispies treats can easily be made with different kinds of cereal , and there are a zillion flavors of cheesecake, doughnuts, pudding, cookies, cakes, pies, ice cream, etc....endless ! Just leave the raisins OUT when you start baking 😃♥🤍💙
Sorbet and sherbet are two different things. Not sure why they used the two words interchangeably. Sherbet is more popular in the US.

16:25 - Baked Alaska is a layered cake, where you put cake, then a layer of ice cream, then meringue on top of that. It's kind of difficult for beginners, because you're supposed to cook the meringue without melting the ice cream. But it's not as difficult as it seems if you know what you're doing.

Donut holes originated (at least from what I've learned) because when they press the hole into the classic donuts when they are making them, that little round piece from the middle will go to waste: hence, donut holes! If you think we are going to just... waste donut dough... think again! 😅

This list seems about right..... althiugh, oersonally I CANNOT stand the soft or gooey textured deserts, especially anything including marshmallow and jello, etc. You get the point 😅

Interestingly, during the 50s our mother taught all three of us boys how to make desserts - cookies, cakes, brownies, etc. Whenever we'd ask "What's for dessert?", she'd reply with "What did you make?"
I was making two pies for a VERY large family gathering on Thanksgiving when I was in high school, and I accidentally put the apples and the blueberries in the same pie pan with the crust... it was a total fumble, but it actually turned out to be amazing! Now everyone makes me bake one of those every holiday season AT LEAST once, but more than likely, several times! Haha 😅😅
Raising 3 kids, I baked constantly. I love homemade cookies, not store bought. I don't have much of a sweet tooth, but enjoy a fresh,soft chocolate chip cookie 😁. There is nothing like that

Chocolate chip cookies are not.big. however you can.get giant ones at diners and 12inch or.bigger decorated for birthdays. You've never had a home made cookie!!! Oatmeal raisin cookies aren't bad
Bread pudding. Even French toast is similar to bread pudding. Eggs milk cinnamon vanilla. Bread pudding is baked and fr3nch 5oadt is made by the slice and fried in a pan.
Versions of cheese cake originated in Europe and in the Nineteen Century in England. It was brought to North America by immigrants, specifically to NY by German-Jewish and Italian immigrants who used ricotta cheese. There are different versions baked and unbaked. It may have a crust or a base made with crushed cookies, digestive biscuits, Graham crackers or pastry.
Some of my family members and extended family members are fantastic bakers. My mom was the best 👌 cook and baker. The holidays were the best. Coconut cakes, apple pies, cheese cakes, pound cakes, upside down pineapple cake, lemon pies, chocolate creme pies, etc. 😋😋😋 I can't eat that stuff like I used to. Chocolate cake was my favorite cake. Still is. I eat fruit now, though. 😃

Store icing is very sweet. Home made icing, buttercream made me the Rockstar of my daughters school when she was young. My wedding cake was white butter.cream chocolate cake with cannoli filling. There are so many cakes. Chocolate cake with chocolate ganache between the layers and frosted with the same. 7 layer cake 1/4 inch layers with chocolate frosting in between the top decorated with a thick layer of frosting cut into rectangles 5 inches wide about inches long. Yes please to them all. Yellow cake with custard and strawberry filling. Come to New Jersey I'll take you on a bakery tour you will lose your mind.
You are the first person I know of that doesn't like S'mores. And yes they are perfect for camping. Also homemade rice crisp treats are the best.
My favorite desserts: New York style cheesecake, Key lime pie, Lemon bars, and brownies. There is nothing like warm freshly baked chocolate chip cookies, you really need to try these!!! Just google Toll House cookies for a recipe. Super easy to make too.
There's a store in Honolulu called Cookie Corner which makes cookies that are better than homemade. They're always sold freshly made.
I guess this would fall under a crumble, but rhubarb squares are fantastic. A lovely balance of tart and sweet, with a buttery crumble crust. Yum!
Gelatin is in mousse and jello. Jelly is eaten with toast. Pudding is similar to custard but not as stiff.

Smores aint good at 55 years old camping most my life nobody i ever been with made smores, nobody even had the inkling to make em. And im a navy vet and nobody anywhere i lived ever made a smore.

Modern cheesecake is from British Chess pie. Which itself is from an ancient Greek dessert. But the ancient dessert isn't recognizable now. And Chess Pie isn't really like US cheese cake so yes (in a way) American style cheesecake really is our own. I see someone did there reseach. So I will shut up.

I’m with you on the S’Mores. I like graham crackers and chocolate, and I can tolerate marshmallows, but I do not like them combined in a s’more AT ALL. They’re one of the most overrated sweet treats around, in my opinion.
Save here, I never got the hype over these.
