I've unintentionally helped a few of those procedures get approved in the first place over the years because I'd hurt the right thing right as a surgical studies trial was enrolling patients for new treatment methods (and they'd pay all the bills and 6 months aftercare so I'm not fighting with insurance or anything. But also lots of "if we screw up I can't sue" waivers involved too so...)

He left so much out! There is a science center right next to the Rock Hall. Terminal Tower has a beautiful mall under it where they filmed Avengers movies and where they hold the Cleveland International Film Festival. The old Arcade. University Circle, with one of the best art museums in the country (after the big three). Case Western Reserve where famous experiments on light were conducted. The Emerald Necklace. Rockefeller Park. Millionaire's Row. Slavic Village. Little Italy. Once upon a time Cleveland was the 5th largest city in the country (before the Rust Belt era, of course). One under appreciated aspect of Cleveland is how easy it is to navigate relative to other major cities. Like most cities, Cleveland has its problems, but it really has a lot to offer in other respects. I grew up in the area. It's hard not to compare every other place I've lived to it (and mostly unfavorably). You could spend a week there and not see everything worth seeing.

Music, Horse Racing, Casino, Boating, Skiing, Hiking, National Park, Parks in general everywhere, Golf courses galore, Zoo, World famous Orchestra, Broadway quality Theaters, World Class Museums, Amish stuff, Bars, Breweries, name your ethnic food - we have that too. As a Clevelander myself, there’s a lot to be proud of. We’re fiercely loyal to our sports teams and there’s been a huge resurgence in the city and surrounding suburbs. Unfortunately there aren’t a ton of opportunities here so a lot of young people are moving away…Btw the song played at the baseball game is called “Take me Out to the Ballgame.” Every single team in the country plays this song usually during the Seventh Inning. It’s an iconic song and is a huge tradition in baseball. Also, Ohio is a state. Cleveland is a city within the state of Ohio.

It's been open since the early 1900s and sells everthing from pastries, meat pies, coffee, cheese, and almost every type of meat you can imagine. I usually go for steaks and hard to find ingredients. I usually stop by the coffee place at the entrance, buy a coffee and a bag of beans then drink my coffee while i shop. The section in the video is the farmers market section in one of the side buildings.

Luka's reaction to every American city has been the same so far. Surprised they didn't fit the stereotype that he had of them before watching a video specifically about them. When I first went to Cleveland, Chicago, Detroit, Cincinnati etc from where I grew up in San Diego, I too was filled with the typical stereotype of a declining rough city devoid of anything culturally or aesthetically refined. But I was pleasantly surprised that each of these cities was by in large well maintained, vibrant, and full of economic and social activity and culture. I don't know what we Americans expect from these big metropolises! Perfect cities?? Well they don't exist here or anywhere else. Most American cities have some rough areas and neighborhoods but they are typically only a small part of the overall middle class existence here in one of the richest countries in the world. Just do a little traveling abroad and you might come back home with a great appreciation of what you have right in your own backyard. Cleveland is a very nice city by American standards. ♥

I'm not quite sure when the tour video was made, but it was during the pandemic, as people wearing masks can be seen in some parts of the video, and the professional baseball team is no longer called the "Indians," but rather it became the Guardians for the 2022 baseball season. Born and raised in the Cleveland area. I moved around the country in my 20s but came back in 2010 and haven't left since...there's no place like home ❤
I bought a home about 20 mins east of Cleveland 1 block from Ohios largest natural sand beach called Headlands Beach State Park.
I love Ohio, I feel like most people who have nasty things to say about us have either actually never been here or it just wasn't the right place for them.
We are a state that I would consider has 3 major regions, Western Ohio is very "Midwestern", quiet open farmlands, Eastern and Southern Ohio is in the Appalachian Mountain Region, very green with lush forests and gorgeous geography. Hocking Hills State Park is in this region and is absolutely beautiful!!! The Great Lakes Region is North. Different beaches, harbors, camp grounds and parks line the entire coast. Also includes one of our many amusement parks, Cedar Point. You can also get to Put-in-Bay Island, Kellys Island.
We also have one of the most visited National Parks in the country, Cuyahoga Valley National Park.
Northeast Ohio also has a very large Amish Country with tons of great restaurants, shops, auctions, incredible homemade furniture, antique and second hand stores.
A lot of people are surprised to find out Ohio is the 7th most populated state! But is still very affordable compared to most states.
Personally I believe Ohio is very underrated, but I'd rather keep it that way ❤ I love living here, I wouldn't want to be anywhere else.

Eyy it's my town! The guide did a reasonable job of showing the touristy places but there's a LOT he left out. The aquarium is pretty cool, if small, but University Circle has a bunch more museums that are way bigger and better. The Cleveland Museum of Art is free entry and worth taking a whole day, the Natural History Museum is re-opening fully renovated soon, and the Cleveland Botanical Gardens are absolutely gorgeous. There's a world-class zoo, and the Cleveland Metroparks System aka the "Emerald Circle" is a ring of national parks and wildlife preserves that surrounds the entire Cleveland area. The guide also didn't mention Playhouse Square, the theater district, with like half a dozen historical venues and a whole bunch of shops and restaurants. It's one of the nicest live theater districts in the country. And like, I could keep going? This guide was only looking at Cleveland itself, but the suburbs and the Greater Cleveland Area cities of Akron & Canton have a bunch to see & do, too.
Honestly though? The best part about Cleveland is the pricing. It's one of the cheapest major cities in the U.S., both to live in and to visit. It's a world-class major city, but not a huge tourist hub, and that really works to our advantage. Weather's not too crazy, either - we get some bad snowstorms and the occasional small tornado and that's pretty much it.

As a born and raised Clevelander, please allow me to add a couple of things.
Cleveland was an industrial hub until the car and steel industries took a dive.
Recently, the city has reinvented itself to reshape the downtown area.
Some of the best chefs in the US operate restaurants in Cleveland.
-Its a Northern city and the weather can be very cold from December to March.
-Cleveland also has a very large theater district, second in size only to New York City.
-The Cleveland Symphony Orchestra is considered one of the finest in the world, by those who know.
-All three of Clevelands sports teams, the Browns, Cavaliers and Guardians, were in the playoffs last year.
Also, we're only about 45 minutes away by car from Cedar Point in Sandusky Ohio. It's the rollercoaster capitol of the world, boasting 16 different rollercoasters.
It's actually a nice and affordable place to live and we have an international airport that is about to be completely renovated.
In the winter it's a little unforgiving, but in the Summer it's hard to imagine a nicer place.
Most of the people who rip on Cleveland have never been there.

I agree with the others... as a Clevelander born and raised, he left out a lot. Especially the theatre district (which is the largest performing arts center in the US outside of New York City). Also, he only showed the produce stalls at the Westside Market... he didn't show the inside of the market building. There is so much to see and do here in Cleveland and a 15 minute video is not enough to showcase our town!

-There was so much more he didn't show you. Many people don't venture, let alone mention us up in Cleveland, on the Canadian border. It's not a huge city, but if you want a slower paced city that doesn't cost as much as the "popular" coastal cities most RUclipsrs vlog about, Cleveland is a great city to raise your kids and have a family. Most joke about us till they actually get here and usually fall in love.
-We are also a major movie filming hub. A few of the Avengers movies were filmed here and the new Superman movie just wrapped up filming about a month ago. Netflix and other film companies are always filming here as well. We have an old looking city, that can be made to look like a New York, L.A. or even Washington D.C. for a fraction of the filming costs.
-11:33 It's an old song, for all teams. It's played for the "Seventh Inning Stretch".... Circa 1908. It's been adopted by the sport, but had different origins most don't know about...
    ruclips.net/video/BUOChc7PDMU/видео.html
-18:56 This is just above the river area he was at earlier in the video. The area by the water is called The Flats. It was back in the day the party area with most of the bars, clubs, strip clubs, etc being down there. It's being revitalized now, so hopefully it will be again along with East 4th. The city is split down the middle by the river, with the East side of town being on the east part of the river and where he was standing being on the West Bank, the westside of Cleveland.
-Basically, Ohio gets a bad rap and made fun of because it's in the Midwest. A slower lifestyle and not too much of the hustle and bustle of the coastal states. We are not generally thought of as a travel destination unless you are coming for business or to visit family. Most of the state is also farming, so most states like us usually get over looked and made fun of...

This video must be from a few years ago because the Cleveland Indians are no longer the Indians. They had to change their name to the Guardians. By the way, the song "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" is normally played and sang at every 7th inning of every Major League and minor league baseball game. That time between the top and bottom of the 7th inning is called the 7th Inning Stretch, where everyone stands up to stretch and sings the song. A full baseball game has 9 innings. Great video!

The University Circle area with many museums, the Symphony Hall and Case Western University. He missed Playhouse square which is the 2nd largest theater district in the country after NYC. He missed the Cleveland Clinic which is one of the best hospital systems in the US. Little Italy. I lived in the most beautiful suburb in Cleveland which is Shaker Heights. Cleveland is a rust belt city. The collapse of the USA steel industry meant massive job losses from Pittsburgh to Detroit and beyond which led to "white flight" leaving minorities behind with no jobs and no future investment in these cities in view. The decreased tax base from salary and profit meant these rust belt areas suffered greatly in education and crime statistics. Most of these cities do not need new tall buildings, they need derelict ones torn down. Commercial office skyscrapers have been changed to residential skyscrapers, and populations have stabilized where they aren't growing or shrinking. Cleveland looks clean, and is for the most part, because it isn't packed with people anymore and there aren't tons of things to do there like other major cities.

  • @jonadabtheunsightly
    @jonadabtheunsightly Месяц назад

Cleveland: at least it's not Detroit :-)
Cleveland proper contains a lot of non-residential area. In the mid twentieth century it was mostly industrial; at this point, a lot of it is commercial. A good chunk of the residential population has moved out to the various suburbs: Lorain, Lakeview, Cleveland Heights, East Cleveland, Mentor, Parma, Elyria, etc. Like any big city, people commute from up to an hour's drive away.
And yes, Cleveland has a lot of historical significance. There's a reason the Cuyahoga River was chosen to anchor the northern portion of the Ohio & Erie Canal.
The word "cathedral", in Roman Catholicism, refers to a church building where the highest-ranking church official stationed there, is at least a Bishop; a church that does not have a Bishop, does not have a cathedral either. This distinction is entirely irrelevant for the overwhelming majority of Christian denominations, because they don't have the Catholic hierarchy of church officials. (The New Testament uses the terms "pastor", "elder", and "bishop" entirely interchangeably, and most Protestant denominations and Anabaptist fellowships consider them to all be the same office. I'm not sure about the Eastern churches, but they are significantly less common in North America.)

That was a very sterile look at the city. As has been mentioned there are many other aspects that were missed, but I guess his take is to find the "fun" parts of the city. I lived in the Cleveland area when I was a kid and I will say a lot has changed for the better. When I lived there, "The Flats" was a very dangerous area, and you probably would not want to walk the streets of downtown at night, but that was then. Historically, Cleveland held the title of the largest city in Ohio, but then the industrial side of the city crumbled and it shrank. It is still one of the "big three" of Ohio: Columbus (the largest at 1.2 million people), Cincinnati (on the Ohio River, a very important shipping center on the way to the Mississippi River), and Cleveland.
I do not know why he included Akron as a suburb of Cleveland, because it is a city in its own right. Also, as someone else has already pointed out, "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" is sung during the seventh inning stretch at most MLB games. This video has to be a few years old because the "Indians" are now the "Guardians" (a stupid name). I am still confused about why the Cleveland Indians was culturally insensitive, but the Atlanta Braves is not, but I digress. This is a touristy look at the city, not a real representation of all the city has to offer.

I think Ohio gets meme'd because it's kind of the hard-working middle sibling of the US states. It's pretty populous, but not big like New York, Florida, or California. It's got a lot of coastline, but it's not a year-round warm ocean coast like out west. It has well-known sports teams, but they're generally more known for being cursed (see the Browns). Being part of the rust belt, the major cities rose to prominence during the heyday of auto manufacturing, but then started to recede as manufacturing jobs left for cheaper labor in other countries. A lot of the state is urban, either one of the big three cities or their suburbs, but the parts that aren't are either farms in the northwest, or forested hills in the southeast.
The state is really a fairly average place to be in the US, and so it doesn't really stand out to people who aren't from it or in it's neighbor states. Most of the rest of the country likely sees Ohio as a pass-through or fly-over state as they travel to and from more popular destinations. Don't sleep on Ohio, though, because we're a quietly solid state.
Edit: Also, we have not one but two awesome amusement parks with Cedar Point on a peninsula in Lake Erie, and King's Island down by Cincy. Hocking Hills state park has loads of beautiful trails, and there's also some decent caves if you're into that sort of thing.

Appreciate the guy's effort, and especially his positive outlook, but the music about put me to sleep. It even made an extra-inning walk-off Guardians win seem boring. Also some irritating smaller mistakes; you could tell he wasn't from here. Maybe I'm being overly critical being fron NE Ohio, tho. I'm surprised he didn't mention (unless I missed) Playhouse Square (multiple theaters), and the University Circle area w/Severence Hall (symphony), Museum of Art & other museums. Also great for medicine with the University Hospital system as well as the world-renowned Cleveland Clinic. And a bit sacrilegious to not mention the Christmas Story house in the Tremont neighborhood. 😅
Seriously, though, Cleveland is a nice, underrated city with a very walkable downtown (see Geography King's newer video on Walkable Downtowns 😉) and a decent (for the U.S.) public transit system. Mostly bus, but limited rail, including a line from Tower City (on Public Square) to the airport as well as one to the waterfront & Amtrak station.
