It is important to practice sideways too. Sometimes your cutting the middle u want to shoot through the d. Or coming from behind the net or out of the corner and need to spin shoot. Id focus more on torso rotation. There are many ways you get your legs to sling your toroso to help sling/whip your arms through the shot
To move forward and take a clapper you should skate slightly left of the net for a lefty, opposite for a righty. Then as you come onto the puck during the shot, you want to point your leading toe towards the target as you transfer your weight. It should make you get pretty low during the shot, and as always, follow thru strong and at the target. Your back foot should end up well behind you and you can use it to toe pick and help curl after the shot
The overall point is you’re moving forward when taking wrist shots on ice. So staying pointed at the net when practicing at home just helps develop a habit, if you will
pretty sure ovechkin is on the verge of being the highest scorer in nhl history and over 500 of those goals he was standing sideways ripping one timers from the corner dots. so kids!! we do shoot sideways when its warrented...like say when a d man is walking the line on a power play..morgan reilly, cale makar
Did he not say to keep going towards where you are shooting ? but then does the total opposite at the end of the video? these poor kids from rich parents thinking that expensive hockey schools will get them 1 step closer to the NHL....Hockey is all about having fun......I bet you anything that none of those kids are enjoying the lessons......PS parents, only 0.00000001 % of kids make it to the NHL....
ummm....kids dont shoot sideways unless their standing still in sock feet. Even then they typically change their feet just before shooting. This guy knows some stuff but he's full of himself!
@@bravepotatoe7513 hes talking about shooting at a standstill in the beginning of the video tulip. I bet u suck at hockey. I'm going to the show in a few year. What u know. 😎😎😎
@@bravepotatoe7513 thanks and u will. Me personally I dont shoot sideways on my shoes but maybe I use to until I learned the proper way that doesn't tear out your knee

How I get tech with your logo on it
Thank God I can only shoot with the puck to my side and not infront. 😅
Gotta try this one
Lucky me, when I started hockey I faced my toes at the net
But it’s completely different than when you take a slap shot. How do you move and take a slap shot???

Says face your target to shoot, then when he shows how, he is facing sideways also....lul

Last statistic is a bit much 😅 take the Hughes family. How many of them played in the NHL? Like 4 or 5?
Incomplete advice.
Same😊

Yeah that's true but when you're shooting at a standstill sideways is the natural position
