A couple of years ago i was where you are now so i understand how important is to be thorough when people wants to learn our hobby , i'm glad to know that this video was helpful to you .
YOU ARE THE MAN !!!!
this was driving me crazy..got all kinds of tech BS form people who wanted to sound
important but you....you put it in PLAIN ENGLISH and showed your work with the highest respect for people who do not know as much or just starting out and got myself and i am sure over 7,000 other people where we needed to go .going to put your vid on the thread i started so all can benefit from your time and effort ....thanx again
Thank you for this! There are many other videos on this subject... but they forget to show you how to set up the receiver for failsafe!!!!!
HI! THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR THIS VERY ACCURATE AND HELPFUL INFORMATION. GOOD JOB INDEED. FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO ARE UNABLE TO UNDERSTAND THIS TECHNICAL LANGUAGE, YOU SIMPLY HAVE SELECTED A VIDEO ON A SUBJECT YOU ARE NOT FAMILIAR WITH. IF YOU OWN A HITEC AURORA 9 RADIO AND FLY ANY QUADCOPTER WITH THE NAZA AUTOPILOT SYSTEM AND DO NOT UNDERSTAND THIS MAN, DO NOT TAKE OFF UNTIL YOU DO... HE JUST SAVED YOUR QUAD...
Hitec Aurora 9 is a very very very good transmitter! I remember I was unable to choose between Futaba & Spektrum and i chose this one, no regrets at all! Great transmitter! Beginners also, you will appreciate it!
Thank you for this video! My Quad came without the failsafe settings when loosing the connection. Now I'm much safer if the connection gets lost.
Also the P-Mix makes Manual usable for me now. Before I only had the 3 position switch for GPS/Atti/Failsafe. Now I have GPS/Atti/Manual and the 2 position switch for Failsafe.
Thank you so much!
you sir, are a god. i had a complete loss with my first quad, because i didnt understand the setup. but no i have a safe, returning quad
Thankyou
Thanks ! i'm really happy to know that this video is helping proud Aurora 9 owners to setup their radios to work properly with the NAZA+GPS , at least with videos like this one that i post here we letting the world know you don't need a Futaba or Spektrum to have fun and safe money while doing it , Thanks again and take care of your self , 8^) .
Thanks a million, following your instructions I managed to set all this up as a complete beginner ! Great video .
Thank you so much for these videos, brother... These are thorough instructions and a great help for us noobies. And they are very much appreciated!
Great man, this is the best step by step video showing how to setup naza with aurora 9 from hitec.
Best regards, many thanks !!!

French than I am, really appreciate your comment! You have a new subscriber! ;)
Thank' s a lot Flying Rookie .
I was blind .And now I see!
You made a miracle !
Stephan : France : Auvergne .
great video..3rd time i've used it so thank you...i have one thing to add ..you do not need a open channel to use failsafe/return to home.i use a optima6 and just assign either 7,8 or 9 to switch G works perfect...
i am using the naza lite,i use switch C for gps/atti , switch E for IOC/home lock and switch G for failsafe...setup receiver the same way as you showed..thanx again
just one word.... THANKS, fantastic video, useful and very clear.
a big "Good Job" from Rome !!!
Congrats on this video. It will help me immensely with my set up. I appreciate your efforts and sharing.
Bardzo dobrze wyjaśniona konfiguracji nadajnik Aurora i FC DJI Naza. Bardzo pomocny film.
Great video, your explanations are very clear and precise, thanks from France
THANK YOU! This helped loads for a newbie building a F550 with Aurora 9
I'm glad to know that this video was helpful for you and i'm grateful for your support , THANKS :)
You're going to like that radio , i know a lot of people with it and they love it and for lees than $100.00 bucks that's a steal .
You welcome , i'm glad to know that my video was helpful to you .
ok i got it! awesome video. NEVER would have figure out how to do this otherwise.
Great video, you've answered a question I've been having for a while. Also, I love. Your FPV gear, nice setup!
Steve, I went back and moved the Pmix from aux2>aux1 to aux5>aux1; this enabled the IOC to light up blue. obviously, the software does not allow you to use X2 with the Pmix in combo. I should have followed your lead with the Pmix on ch.9 in the first place. I was trying to leave the two last ch. open for future use; still can use ch. 8 for remote camera switch setup. Thanks for your in put, it helped me to rethink the setup.
I'm glad to hear that this videos was helpful to you , Thanks !
I really like the Aurora 9 for many reason over other radios with comparable price range , the RX are x2 to x3 times less expensive than the other main brands and they gives you voltage telemetry without the need of a telemetry module by powering the RX thru the SPC input that can handle all the way up to 30v , it comes with a large touch screen that is easy to navigate thru the menus and in ideal conditions you can get all the way up to 6km of range on this radio , perfect for FPV .
Hello from Russia. Thank you setup your aurora 9X + naza m v2. Great video!
Александр Николаев You welcome
This is fantastic. Entirely useful. It works. Thank you so much
I'm sorry for my previous qquestion
I lissen now four time and you say that the channel 9 must be empty (free)... Very good video. I watch on my Facebook account for friends they have an Aurora 9!
Very great video!!!
***** Just used the CH9 on your aurora for the RTH switch and mix regardless what RX you got , the CH9 is going to be a mix CH with CH5
Good to know that this video was helpful to you , thanks .
I'm glad that this video was helpful to you ,thanks !
THX :) , i might not be a god but i like to help like a demigod even if i'm not that either , i'm glad that my video was helpful to you .
You welcome , if others forget to mention how to setup he RX failsafe with the NAZA then they are giving you a half way cook video , setup the RX failsafe can safe your quad from lost signal on a long range FPV or TX dead battery .
I'm glad to know that this video was helpful to you , THANKS
BTW love the name on your YT CH .
I'm glad that this video was helpful to you , thanks for stopping by :)
I'm glad that this video was helpful to you , thanks for stopping by :)
Many thanks for the effort put in . I'll try to setup my Aurora 9X soon. Hope it works.
Nice clear cut to the point video! Thanks
Thanks for your kind words , i'm glad to help .
Thank for second time help in 6 months; )
You welcome for the second time , glad to hear that this video was helpful to you .
Many thanks for the video. Just bought my first quad, 450 lite and the info is very useful for setting up. What would we do without RUclips.
Thanks
Phil
i'm glad to help
Glad to know that this video was helpful to you , you welcome .
I'm glad to help and thanks for your accolades .
You made programming the Aurora 9 and NAZA look easy! I am planning to build a F450 with NAZA M V2 w/GPS soon. Would you recommend the Hitec Aurora 9 over a Spektrum unit? I recall your mentioning that you get telemetry through the Hitec without a separate module as one reason you liked it. Any comments would be appreciated! Keep up the good work.
If you can just message me how to do it I can probably figure it out, You have a good way of explaining things. im remvideo on rcgroups if you're on there
wow amazing ..
thank you very much for your explaining and time ..
it is very helpful.
Best Regards
The radios from futaba and spektrum that are in the same price range as the Aurora 9 is the 8FG and the DX8 , the Aurora 9 gives you telemetry , large touch screen , 3000ft range , cheaper RX than the DSM or FAST RX of equivalent channels , removable module and much more , is no brainer , the Aurora 9 was the obvious choice .
So long ago, but still worth it. Now all I have to do is get my gimbal working again.
Many Thanks for this Video, i programm my Aurora well, verry usefull, 5 thumps up !!! greetings from germany...
I took you advice and ordered from hobbypartz the flysky 9x (10%off) because it has 3 noob switches, which will allow me to adjust the gains like you did in mid flight like your previous videos.. Plus I think it was going to be impossible to set the failsafe on my old radio without having digital settings. I think my maiden Los test flight will be on the 4th of July, I'm thinking bottle rockets..lol
Very informative thanks for the video!
Go to the NAZA's TX CALI menu and setup the RECEIVER TYPE to TRADITION , if you don't do that the ESC's won't arm , all aftermarket ESC's that you used with the NAZA you have to calibrate them first before you used them , also the NAZA comes with it's own BEC so you have to removed the positive wire from the ESC's servo connector too , there's tons of videos in YT that explain how to calibrated HobbyWing ESC's so check them out . Does your hobbywing ESC's are simonk reflash ?
Sono contento che il mio video della aurora 9 con il GPS NAZA stato utile a voi, Grazie
Thanks alot. That was a big help!
You welcome !
very helpful, I would even say essential to understanding!!!
Glad to know that this video was helpful to you .
Cool video, thank you very much for helping!
You welcome , i felt that it was important to share this info with all Aurora 9 owners so that's why i make this video .
Fico feliz que meu vídeo foi útil para você mesmo que fosse em inglês.
I might make one in the near future .
hi, congratulations for the tutorial.
I recently possessor of a f550 gps and Naza, tx and rx aurora9 optima9.
Not having much experience I was wondering if I can program a stick 3 positions, excluding the Manual, then FAILSAFE-ATTI-GPS. if you can also calibrate the compass in this mode? thanks
Hi Steve. Thanks this video save my life (and my hexa). I need the channel 9 to us it for landing gear. That is the last channel that was left ( CH 9) There's another way to enable fail-safe
Thanks
Gracias. Tienes razón
One problem with your setup that I can't get around. The Pmix worked great. and I can go into fails-safe the way you showed. So, when I'm in Manual and hit fail-safe, it shows fail-safe and the same fore when I'm in Attitude. HOWEVER, when I go into GPS and hit fail-safe the little slider in the Assistant soft war goes beyond GPS into a grey section. I think the only way round this is to us another 3 position switch, but than you don't have a 3 position switch for IOC. Any idea how to fix this?
very nice video i watched it and was able to set it up but i am not able to arm it and test it aurora 9 radio 6 ch rx and it has hobbywing pentium 30 amp esc how do you calibrate esc
Hi Steve , what i'm going to tell you is going to sound weird and strange but it already happen to me in two of my quads that used hobbywing ESC's , i saw some videos of the area where you lived and i saw snow so that means that the part in the US where you lived it's cold , the hobbywing ESC's doesn't arm when it's cold , why ? , i don't know , you need to plug in the quad to the battery inside your house or car where is warm and then bring it outside to fly it after the ESC's arm ..
MERCI , i'm glad to help :)
very good video man thank you
thanks , i'm glad you like it .
Great video. Thank You
You welcome .
I don't know how you manage to get the X1 to work with the FAIL SAFE mixing since that's not possible , the FAIL SAFE mixing is something that you do only on your radio by picking the mix CH that is going to work with CH 5 , X1 and X2 is only for gain settings , gimbal control or IOC .
I would like to assign a switch on my Aurora 9 which, when flipped, would keep the throttle above 10% regardless of the position of the throttle. A Spektrum buddy has done this on his TX, but I don't know how to do that on the A9. Was that a part of any of your videos? I'd love to know how to do this to keep my motors from stopping if I accidentally move the throttle too low during flight. Have you heard of this??
Hi I using Aurora 9, & with Nova OSD RTH Function, The RTH is using same as 3 Position Switch too.. * Manual mode / PA mode & RTH mode.
Is it the Same set up, to asign a two position switch Mix Program for FailSafe??????
can you make a video on how to set up home lock / Intelligent orientation mode?
The IOC or the X1 & X2 from the NAZA got nothing to do with the FAIL SAFE setup mix or RTH on this video since are two different things , this video was meant to help people to do the RTH Fail Safe mix on the Aurora 9 and nothing else , you don't need to do any kind of mixes to get your IOC to work on your NAZA , look for videos on RUclips that will explain you how to get the IOC setup properly on your NAZA since this video was not made for that purpose .
Hey Rookie, What reference point does the Naza gps use for the 60 foot altitude; i.e. take off altitude or surrounding terrain? The reason I am asking is here in Vegas there is a lot of mountains that are well over 60 feet tall. I plan on flying in the mountains and what if I fly to the opposite side of a hill or mountain and fail safekicks in will the quad fly into the mountain or fly over it? Also, can you deactivate the RTH anytime you want after to quad comes back into range?
Hey Steve, I used your setup for my flip fpv and all is good except for IOC. I setup the X2 on channel 7 and assigned it to 3 position switch E. The X2 monitor indicator in the naza software moves the X2 from right to left; the same as X1 which operates the fail-safe mixing. When I am in the IOC monitor indicator and move the X2 switch nothing happens. I've tried adj. the EPA up and down on both switch positions and nothing will happen with IOC monitor in the software. What is the fix here?
thanks that was helpful!
I'm glad to hear from you that this video was helpful to you , thanks for watching .
Great video and good explanation, can you tell me if it is the same procedure for Wookong M , especially the bit with the screwdriver and the receiver ?
This also apply to the wookong as well , i got a good friend on mine that did follow that same instructions with the wookong and it works perfectly just like the naza .
Great , thanks for sharing your experience from the other side of the world , I really appreciate the clear way that you explain everything.
Nice video.thanks
Glad that you liked , thanks .
Hello sorry for my bad English
You mi the channel 5 with the channel 9
The channel 9 must be free without any other connection? (For example on channel 9 I have lights on/off
Thans for reply and for your video
***** Yes , CH9 must be free
stupendo GRAZIE!!!!!!!!!!!
got it, thanks bro.
I think my problem like you said was performing this stuff out of order. Can you do a video on setting up IOC mode ?
mark c Try this video , is for the dji phantom but it will do for your naza too since the phantom also got a naza inside , just program one of the 3 position switch on your aurora to work with any spare " available " on your radio like for example ch 6 and plug cable from the naza x2 input in to the ch 6 on your rx , after that just follow the instructions on the video below ...
DJI Naza-M Assistant for Phantom-Enabling IOC and Manual Mode
TFRdrones
thanks bro-ham
bonjour c est quel logiciel que vous avez sur le pc pour travailler avec l aurora 9 merci
I enjoyed the video and it was helpful. What would be even better is if you could sned me your model so that i can just copy it straight into the Tx from the HPP 22 !!! I've had no luck getting help from Hitec so far !!! so maybe you can be the one to help me out ?
PM me your emal and ill send you the profile to you , my radio is not the new aurora 9x so if that's the radio you got my profile will not work with that radio , only with the old aurora .
Do you know how to program the h43d gimbal tilt with the aurora 9?
Hi Steve. I was going to get this radio but seen the new 9x has come out do you think its worth paying the extra for it?
Go for the new aurora , i got a friend that got that radio and it comes with features that makes the new radio worth paying the extra bucks for it .
You welcome . :)
hi i want to know how to cross NFZ(no fly Zone ) with naza m lite..?
can we do it or not..?
What program is he using?
Hello , all good 'm from Brazil and would like a help have the same radio and the naza system and the same as the video 'm wanting gimbal set hitec you could help ? Aurora 9
Thanks.
POSTED ON RCGROUPS - Aurora 9 dji naza v2 fail safe set up
Do you have a wiring diagram for connecting the Optima 9 to the Naza?
Is done in the same exact way you do it with Futaba receivers so on the NAZA online manual look for the futaba diagram and hook it up the same way is done with futaba .
No matter what I try it doesn't work. It looks like they took the "Traditional Transmitter" option out of the firmware on the Phantom 2.
5150 Media Productions Just to let you know when I post this video the only NAZA out there was the NAZA M and nothing else , now there's many NAZA versions including the ones on PHANTOM , I know the old PHANTOM's used NAZA's that works with the NAZA V2 software but now with the PHANTOM 2 NAZA's apparently they are more integrated with their own radio so upgrading to a aftermarket radio is impossible , I guess your only choice is to see if you can change your firmware on your PHANTOM 2 NAZA in to a V2 firmware assuming that is possible or stick with your PHANTOM's stock radio .
Well that worked and got 1 flight it flew good then put in fresh batt and will not arm again
Why when configuring FS exhibit less than half the level of gas?
MrMadwolfk96 In some aircraft half throttle doesn't make it staying hovering , sometimes a bit less or a bit more than half throttle is require to be able to hover the aircraft .
我只能听懂中文 。才能学可遥控器,比如 futaba. Spektrum. Hitec. 用怎样下裁才可以得到中文解说,谢谢大家。
FOR THAT YOU CAN HOLDUP A WELLS FARGO TRUCK OR KIDNAP A VIP , KEEP LOOKING ON RUclips , YOU WILL FIND VIDEOS OF HOW TO LEARN TO DO THAT WITH OTHER YT .GUYS .

Hello... I can't seem to get the switches to be recognized by Naza Assistant. Any Ideas?
Had a bad servo cable on Ch5 to U
Gary Oliver I'm glad to know that you found the problem and that it was a easy fix to resolve .
Thanks for the video.
