Glad you like them! Well, no matter when you found me, I'm very glad you're here now! I hope you have a great rest of your week and a very Merry Christmas!

Glad you like them! These are such a fun project and like you say, they do make a dent in the scrap pile.
Potholders are so cute!
I live in Michigan and the leaf colors are changing. I drove north this week to a quilt shop and saw the n ew colors emerging like maroons and pinks. Soon we will have the yellows and oranges. I want to sit right down and make these leaf potholders but I have to pack today for my bus trip toPenn. with my daughter. We will be going to 12 quilt shops along with some other sites. I love tripping with my girls and my quilting friends.
Enjoy your trip!
Good morning, Marie great video, love the leaf shape pot holders. you are a great teacher, learning a lot. can't wait to make these.

Morning Marie! The leaf potholder is super adorable! I guess I've have to pull out the autumn fabrics again, lol. :) I'm making pillow case dresses for Xmas for the little girls in Africa right now. I've not made a dress before. These are so cute and easy, maybe I'll make something else clothes wise. I'm thinking pajamas for the family... Enjoy sewing your potholders. I'll get to this as soon as possible. Hehehe!
Hi Marie - Beautiful leaf potholders. I love the fall colors you chose! I agree, they would make very nice gifts. Thank you Marie. Have a great week!

Thanks from a very informative tutorial.
Hi sister in law sorry I missed you this morning. I had to work. I usually don't work Sundays. I love those they are beautiful. I love my other ones I dont get burned.
These leaf potholders are really cute and would make very nice gifts. I’ve never made bias binding, so that will be a new thing for me to do. I love your fun fall fabrics too!
That's adorable Marie. I love it. I will be trying this soon. Thanks. T

I'm so happy to hear that! I'm only glad that I was able to help. Thank you so much for watching and for taking the time to comment, I appreciate that!
I really like that pot holder, a great way to use small pieces.l
Thank you! I'm glad you like it!
Love the potholder colors ! I think Fall is definitely in the air 😊 Bias binding 🤩I haven't tried it yet but looks nice on those & I like the angle you got with the camera to show it better 👍Thanks for the company !
Bias binding is quite easy, truly.
This is a great pattern, Marie! It reminds me of all the Autumn leaf colors I have in my yard right now! I love it!!
Thanks Tammy, I’m glad you enjoyed it! I love autumn leaves and remember a lot of raking, as well as playing in piles of them, when I was a kid.
Good morning, this was sewwwww awesome!!! Thank you for not leafing us behind this Fall🍂🌻🍁. ❤️😀
Love these leaf potholders. Thanks for sharing.
Glad you like them! They are very fun to make and colorful to have in the kitchen. Happy sewing!
Hi Marie! A friend of mine introduced me to you because of your t-shirt tote bags. I've not seen most of your videos but when I saw what your What's up Wednesday showed for today, I had to watch it. Was so glad to see someone posted the link to this video!!! I LOVE these 💗💗
Welcome!! I'm SEW happy you've joined me for a scrappy journey!
SO ENJOYED THIS VIDEO!! Thanks Marie for sharing. Going shopping for some autumn prints/colors tomorrow to make these for family.
I'm ao glad ypu enjoyed this! In case you missed it, I'm doing a live stream sew-along for these potholders today and id love for you to join in! (I'm just getting ready to post it on group, the time is set for 2 pm EST)
I love the leaf colors!
Love the tutorial. I do have a walking foot. But, I may try a Teflon foot and lower my thread tension. I usually lower the thread tension when working with heavier fabrics or more layers.
🍁 🍃 🍂🧡🧡🍁🍃🍂 love the leaves!
Thank you, Marie. I'm glad I stuck around, too (even tho' it's late now)!! You're a good teacher, with nice details. THX! They are beautiful & I do luv fall colors, too. The leaf pattern is a great idea! I hated to see you cut off some of it. I would just make it larger...never hurts 😊 So I finally got to see one of your tutorials and not just chatting! lol Hope I can take time to make some this season. They'd def. become a gift bc I hoard pretty stuff, esp. things that take my time to produce, so I'd rather give it away than hoard it. Knowhutimean?! Thx again! You're a blessing 💜
Hello! Thank you so much for your kindness. I really loved reading it! I put out a tutorial every other Sunday morning, and then the live streams, which are chatty, every Wednesday morning. I should’ve had a tutorial out today, but I didn’t have a good week, so I wasn’t able to get a video done. I’m so happy you enjoyed this video, and I hope you make some beef pot holders of your own! I was able to finish up all the leaf potholders that I had cut out and get them all sewn up this morning. One set was much larger because as you say, it went to waste on one of them. But I was just trying to show people how to use the pattern and that’s why I cut it like that yesterday.
@@MariesScrappyCreations thank you, Marie. We didn't have a great week, either. But can't complain...too many blessings! I remembered you saying that, & that you wake very early. I do too, but don't usually stay up. So you were able to get all those done! Your color choices were so pretty! Thx for taking the time to write. I don't get that much sewing time, even tho' "retired". My priorities & eye health (since surgery Spring '22) has left me very light sensitive (mild descrip. of my vision issues).
But I'm thankful, nonetheless, that I can still see. Wishing you much success with your sewing channel.
Thank you, thinking of making these leaf potholders for Christmas gifts, ❤
You’re welcome 😊 They would make great Christmas gifts! One of my other subscribers made them out of blue scraps last year and they were gorgeous! I hope you have a lot of fun sewing yours, I'm sure the recipients will love them!
I made 4 , absolutely love them .. sure I will make more 😊
Wonderful! I love making potholders and I’m glad you liked the tutorial!
Hola good morning Marie Iam starting to wach your videos and the storm fiona thats coming to Puerto Rico 😫🌬🌩🌧take care ooo and my ☕😋ADIOS 🤗🤗🇵🇷
I hope you are safe, Vivian! That was quite a storm!
Making some now to keep me busy Marie. Thanks for the tutorial.
You're welcome commentary! It's the least I could do for someone who keeps me laughing so often during our live streams! 🤣 ❣️
These are so pretty! Love them!
Thank you so much! I just love making potholders! Happy sewing to you! 🥰🧵🪡
Love love love these. TY
You’re very welcome! I love these potholders, too! They have been one of my most popular videos, and in fact, it was picked up by a website, called DIY joy, and they did an article on it. I was overwhelmed and ecstatic when I found out, ha ha. I hope you give these a try and of course, they don’t need to be done in only autumn colors, and can be done in most any color scheme that a person could think of. Thank you so much for watching and taking the time to comment!
Thank you! I love this and going to make. I'm not much of a table runner person but this will be great for practice. I'm newish to quilting and struggle with matching seams and 1/4 " seams.
You are so welcome! This pattern is very forgiving with seem allowances. I hope you give it a try, I bet you’ll be pleasantly surprised. Thank you so much for watching and taking the time to leave me a comment. Happy sewing!
Love your pot holders
Thank you! ❤️. They're so fun to make, and people love to receive them. I hope you'll give them a try!
They are beautiful potholers I love the fall Leaves. LEAVES are the creative word of the day
Hi from Indonesia Miss, I share your tutorial video and she love it.
Thank you 😊
Hello in Indonesia! Thank you so much for watching and sharing my video with your friends. I really appreciate that you did that. I hope you have a great day and happy sewing!
Still binge watching videos, love the leaf pot holders! Thank you!
Thank you Sue! This video has been one of my most popular. People really liked the autumn leaf shaped potholders. I have a lot of fun making this video.
I love the leaf potholders! Here's a tip: Take a small Gatorade drink bottle or similar (28 oz) & cut off the bottom. Spray your basting spray through the drink end and point the bottom where you want the spray to be applied. I still use newspapers underneath my project but it helps to keep the spray from floating all over the place.
What a great idea! I can't wait to try it, thank you so much!
I love this pattern! I mess up the spray basting too...I have the same $1.00 cans from Waterville Marden's. So glad I "bought it when I saw it". Thanks for the great tutorial.
Hi! Yes, it was a great deal and I really wish I had bought more. Thanks for popping in, fellow Mainer!
Sorry I missed you yesterday. I am not feeling well. Feel better today thank goodness.
I hope you are feeling better very soon!
Love it!!!!
I hope you give them a try. They're so fun!

@@lindastuckey3131 you should definitely try some... They're so fun!!!!! Happy sewing ❤️
These leaf potholders are absolutely adorable!!!! Bias binding wasn’t as difficult as I feared! I’ve fabric I thought I’d use & haven’t YET! (Yet being the operative word here!lol) The hubs just doesn’t get it! 😂Thanks for this, Marie! 🥰
I'm glad you tried the biased binding. It's definitely different, but not difficult.
Thank you ❤❤
You're welcome 😊
These Leaf Potholders were mentioned during your live, today, so I had to check them out. I'm so going to try to make some! I'm very happy that you are beginning to feel better.

I just found your channel and I must say, I just love this potholder leaf design. I made one similar a couple of years ago but it was very fiddley to make. Yours went together so much easier. I did subscribe as I enjoyed your video.
Welcome! My channel is just over 6 months old, so I'm still fairly new. I'm glad you enjoyed the pot holder and that you found it easier to make. YAY!
👏👏👏 welcome Laura ❤️😀

That’s awesome… hello fellow Mainer! I just did a quick video (I’ll link it below) of walking through most of the aisles of the local Marden’s (I’m in Aroostook county, but from Augusta). Thanks for saying “hello” and thanks for watching!

@lindasewell1810 oh no kidding! How cool is that? I've always said that I'd love to meet (and shop with) a subscriber. Maybe one of these days!!
You could use a starter piece of fabric, to help you out. 🇨🇦
That's true! Hello in canada! 🖐
Mardens!?!?! You must be in Maine. Me too!
I am indeed. Hello, fellow Mainer! I’m from August, living in Presque Isle. You?
Catching up
I love these pot holders; You've definitely inspired Me to make some, especially for gifts! Thank You for Sharing, Yours are just Beautiful 😍!
Marie - Just discovered your quilting videos. SUPER! One question about the pretty Fall Scrap Potholders - If I make each strip an inch or so longer, will the potholder come out slightly larger (with more binding)?
Hi and welcome to my channel! Yes, you could make it larger. I've done it and you can either print out the pattern at a larger scale, or just draw ut the size you'd Ike it to be.
Marie - Are you doing a few backstitches in the center when you start quilting each strip?
Yes. When I use a decorative stitch (which is most of the time), I start by using very short (1.6 or 1.8 mm) stitches, going back a few stitches, and then forward a few stitches. Then, I stitch along and also I do the same at the end, with back-tacking with the small stitch.
I am trying to make these potholders. Where can I get a pattern for your leaf?
It's listed in the description box below the video, but I will paste it here for you. Happy sewing!
bit.ly/3ScAHJp
Could you use a quilt as you go method?
Hi Sylvia! I had thought about that, but I'm not really sure. The only reason I say that is because you could quilt the strips together alright, but when you went to sew the 2 sections together in the middle, I think it would be quite bulky. I could be wrong, though.
What a cute leaf pot holder! Great job Marie! I have a bunch of Double fold Bias quilt binding that was gifted to me....wonder if that would work? I may have to try it. 😁
Hi Trinette! I have never tried the bias tape on this project, but I guess my answer would be that it would depend on what the width of it was. You need something that's 1.75" wide and if it's that wide, then I would guess it would work. Please let me know if you end up using it and how it ended up.
I bought file folders for 15 cents at walmart to use. I tried looking at the directions for binding too confusing to me.
I'm sorry you found that confusing and i'm also sorry I didn't see this comment until now. I always avoided projects calling for bias binding because I didn't understand how to make it. Then comma one day I sat down and told myself that I was going to learn it. Maybe you'll give it another shot at some point, or I suppose you could try it with straight binding. What about buying the premade bias binding?
I found a you tube video and I think I might try it. I will see thank you Marie.

couldn't you fold the end in at the end of the look then you would not have a raw edge
Hi Linda! You absolutely can, if your machine will handle the thickness. Because of where it's sewn, and the bulk there already, I know that my machine will not go through it. In my previous potholder tutorial, I folded under. Thanks!
