Hi Del I have dh100 and a dh200 the squeal was a common problem it is caused by a capacitor not being stron enough google the repair i have had 2 of mine fixed now they work as a new one Cheers
I had questions about the digital horn but you've already answered them! It certainly sounds better than I would if I'd been sitting in the loft for 30 years!
It really is, especially considering its age! Imagine my joy when I stuck some batteries in and after 30 years it switched on okay. Then imagine my horror when I tried to play its internal sounds and only got horrific bat squeaks out of it. Then imagine my joy again when I plugged the MIDI-USB converter lead into the iPad and heard those beautiful sounds as I played! Happy days! :-)
i have a dh 100, and it did that same squeak thing, and i just fixed it today, i had to replace a capacitor, the internals are the same on the dh 100 and 200
I’ve got one too! Mines got “the squeal” also. LOL now I’ll have to trot mine out as well. Believe it or not, I also had a Yamaha cx5 (I saw your post on that the other day) - crazy huh?
Wow! That’s spooky! I also had an Alesis MMT8 (?) stand-alone MIDI sequencer, then moved on to the Atari ST computer for sequencing, a Kawai K1 synth, a Kawai R-50 drum machine and a Yamaha TG33 (?) tone generator - any matches there? :-)
Hey, many thanks for this video, I have a DH-200 and the tone is always a little late after putting the finger down. Does someone have any idea? There are already new condesators inside. thank u!
OMG... I Have a DH-100. Its sound chip also gave up the ghost too. Same story a horrible squeak..... But I never thought to check if it was still sending out MIDI info. Must dig it out and see if it works.
Wow - that’s amazing! I didn’t even know they’d done an earlier version! Well worth checking out the MIDI connection, but stick some batteries in first to make sure it’ll even switch on! So I use a 2 metre cable with MIDI connection at one end and standard USB at the other, plugged into the smaller USB to iPad lightning cable (I sent you some details about this one a few weeks back), which then plugs into your iPad. Both came from Amazon - I can give you more details if needed - let me know? Cheers Berni! :-)
Hahaha - yes I did babble on a bit here, didn’t I! 😄 All unscripted too, which didn’t help! If you want to hear more music, I’ve over 400 other vids on this channel which you’re more than welcome to check out. Thanks for watching this one and commenting - it’s all good. 🙂

Hope to hear this more in the future!
Thanks Ylle - that’s definitely the plan! I actually feel quite guilty for neglecting it in the way I have for all these years! :-)

PS What interface do you use with your i-pad?

Contact Matt Traum of Patchman Music. He may be able to upgrade your wonderful horn, including fixing that squeak.
I had the silver version in the 1980s
Play more. You talk too much
