      On the basis that I'm providing you with the best driving lesson videos you will find - useful information completely free of charge. Information that you would usually pay 35-50 euros per hour in a standard driving lesson. On that basis a contribution is appreciated but not expected. I don't see that concept as being too difficult to comprehend.

    I am an Irish girl living in Luxembourg the last two years. I had to sit my test in French yesterday. I only found Dane's channel before the exam (I had been watching ones from the UK where they use MPH) and I wish I found this channel sooner! Everything is so clear and concise! I was struggling with some things right up to my exam, but understanding in my native language even though I was driving on the right really helped me! Thank you for helping me pass my test on my first try!

    Why do you need the handbrake, ? I was taught don't worry about what's behind you, they should be watching in front of them.
    So much harder in the UK than the USA, I never took a lesson in my life and passed 1st time in the states. Here they want you to jump through hoops unnecessary

    • @DaneTygheletsdrive
      @DaneTygheletsdrive  5 лет назад +3

      Firstly I am based in Ireland not the UK, secondly the handbrake is a useful tool to make the car more secure and avoid rollback if you are on an uphill. Whoever thought you to not worry about what's behind you was either ripping you off or playing a cruel joke on you. If you are changing lanes would you not be aware of what's behind you? Just because people behind should be watching in front doesn't mean that they will be, ever heard of j-walkers?
      There's no unnecessary hoops to jump through - it's just called showing people proper skills and proper driving as opposed to reversing around a few cones in some empty parking lot in New Jersey.

    • @JaneCooper190072
      @JaneCooper190072 5 лет назад

      @@DaneTygheletsdrive I mean obviously as an experienced driver you do look around and check mirrors, but I think when teaching someone to drive is easier to get them to pay attention in front of them, no Noone ripped me off, it was probably just a friend saying that, of course when changing lanes you should do a quick over the shoulder check, but they go too far here, if you've driven in other countries you'd see the difference. These streets in the UK were built for horse carriages and are really not meant for vehicles, the narrowness of them is ridiculous, but like I said I taught myself over there in California I passed the first time they just make you do a lot of unnecessary things here because of the road conditions
      Isn't Ireland part of the United Kingdom?

    • @DaneTygheletsdrive
      @DaneTygheletsdrive  5 лет назад +4

      If you taught yourself and passed first time then you were either very lucky or the standard of the driving test is quite low

    • @JaneCooper190072
      @JaneCooper190072 5 лет назад

      @@DaneTygheletsdrive it's just easier on roads meant for cars, and not horses, it was in 1990 in Pasadena California, so nothing like here, after around 10 lessons here I'm about ready, my instructor said to book the test, I don't know, maybe it's just going from the right hand side of the road to the left it just all seems a bit much to me
      Yeah I basically taught myself I randomly went into the DMV over there, took a written test, didn't expect to pass but passed it the first time then my friend lent me his Jeep to do the test and I passed it first time, I didn't expect to but I did

    Hi Dane , thank you so much for these wonderful videos🌷🌷. I really appreciate the effort you put on them.
    I really find checking mirrors very hard for me as I feel am gonna miss important things that could happen in front of me . I know I shoul do it in glance but still can’t master this 🙁

      Hopefully you will master it with practice, it you just give quick checks you won't miss too much going on in front. It's important not to over-do the mirrors.

      Mhedz Homerez it is important to check your mirrors especially before you change lanes or change position on the road. But the most important aspect of driving is planning ahead and reading and anticipating the road up ahead. Hopefully with practice you will become better. Remember MISS, Mirrors, indicator, slow down and second gear ☺️

    i don't get checking mirrors for stopping or slowing down. isn't it up to driver behind you to keep safe distance? i heard you win insurance claims if u say wild mouse was crossing the road and you had to stop sharply. free money

    • @DaneTygheletsdrive
      @DaneTygheletsdrive  2 года назад +2

      If you're slowing down or stopping it might be useful to know if there's a cyclist nearby as they are not the sharpest tools in the shed sometimes. Don't rely 100% on other people to do the right thing.

    Hi, so i have a question, i have been driving from 8 - 10 years and full liecense, so all of sudden i realise i check my mirrors very often, and some times feel anxiety when cars are approaching and coming tooo close to my rear, how can i overcome this, thanks

    • @DaneTygheletsdrive
      @DaneTygheletsdrive  3 года назад

      Firstly remember that it is nothing personal, if it wasn't you it'd be someone else, secondly - most of the things that you worry about don't actually happen, thirdly if someone is tailgating you then it is probably a sign of their weakness - maybe they are under pressure or stressed out as they are in a rush. You staying calm are showing strength and confidence.

    Hi Dane, go raibh míle maith agat! I passed on my second attempt last Wednesday in Skibbereen, West Cork with only 5 grade 2's. I had watched almost every one of your videos leading up to my first and second test, and each one of your videos were a tremendous help, and also very accurate advice. Some of the advice given to me by my two instructors wasn't 100% bang on (some advocated dry steering, not using handbrake etc). Now time to purchase my first car and get on the road, thanks again and if anyone would like any advice for the route in Skibbereen specifically I have a lot of test specific info (there is a new tester there now with different places for turnabout and reverse around the corner), just reply to this comment and let me know!

    I have two questions
    1 am I allowed to move my mirrors in order to do the reverse around the corner and
    2 Do I have to go into neutral with hand break up at all traffic lights or can I stay in 1st gear with hand break up
    Thank you , I find your videos so helpful . I have my test next week 😬

    • @DaneTygheletsdrive
      @DaneTygheletsdrive  3 года назад

      You can adjust your mirrors if you want and you should wait in 1st gear with the handbrake up at lights. But it's not a problem to wait in neutral.

  • @brianm2881

    Checking all 3 mirrors every 7-10 seconds seems a bit excessive, depending on the situation. That is to say it maybe should come with some caveats such as if you're trying to anticipate a hazard on the road ahead, that should take priority. There was one instructor who told me about a guy who got failed because he was checking his mirrors too much and not spending enough time looking at the road ahead.

    • @DaneTygheletsdrive
      @DaneTygheletsdrive  3 года назад

      You're absolutely correct. Checking mirrors depends on the situation and what's ahead of you.

    Its ridiculous that pedestrian crossings are right beside roundabouts, when we could be doing multiple mirror checks, maintaining progress , if you're going through the roundabout in second gear and pedestrians are on top of you 😂🙄. But great video great tips

    Bollocks. If I'm going at 50 mph, I'll cover about 25 meters every second. While I may be interested in what is behind, I need to be focusing on what is ahead - that is what I am going to run into.

    I have small doubt, if could help me with,
    Can I use neutral when I stopped at traffic lights? Or I need to kept in first gear holding the clutch with handbrake pulled at all times?

    • @DaneTygheletsdrive

      Either way is fine, but I recommend waiting in first gear as you'll be more ready to move off quicker.

    So when at a complete stop you check your rear view mirror and then whichever mirror in which the direction you'll turn? For example you check the rearview mirror and your right mirror then check for oncoming traffic then turn and same thing for left turns?

    My instructor told me MSMB -
    Where B is the blind spot.
    You don't mention Blind spot.
    Two conflicting statements,confused.

    • @DaneTygheletsdrive
      @DaneTygheletsdrive  6 лет назад

      I include the blind spot as part of 3, so 3 mirrors and blind spot when moving off. 1 gear stick, 2 indicators and 3 mirrors and blind spot. There's usually no need to check the blind spot approaching a junction or roundabout. Try not to get too worried about teaching techniques, everybody has their own way of doing it, if we were all the exact same then it would be boring.
