Outsiders never really know the true dynamics between a decades old love relationship. Whatever the reason for no children, I think Alan would have made a wonderful father. RIP. I think this woman had an exceptional man.
She didn't want children and responsibilities
It would get in the way of her political career.

I can't think what she gave up that was so wonderful and great that she couldn't have one child for him. He sacrificed so much I just don't know what she sacrifice for him and she should have if she loved him. We know if it was the other way around and Rima had wanted children wanted to have a pet wanted her husband to wear a wedding ring that he would have done it even if he didn't want children, didn't like dogs, and didn't like wearing rings he would have done anything for her to make her happy and that's a fact
The reason was, she didn't want them! She ran for office in a district that prefers the women candidates to be single, without a family, whereas they preferred male candidates to be married with a family. She wasn't living in the same district as Alan at that time, so basically she gave up having Alan's children to be a politician! How many politicians do you know that have a family? Probably most of them. She was only in local councils not Parliament, and lost three times even with Alan stuffing pamphlets for her in women's at mailboxes! So she kind of did that all for nothing didn't she? Alan was the one that paid the price!
We actually do know that he wanted children very much ... Always, did. We know because he told us...this and other things.
RIP Alan, such a shame you guys didn't have kids, just imagine another Rickman with the same calming golden voice

I guess they would've had kids had they married sooner,it's kinda sad but yeah definitely it's more a risk on the part of the woman's life if any late pregnancy would've occurred.
We know very well that many couples did not work because one of the two did not want children. However, he did not want to break off the relationship with her and did not have any children with other women ... Why? Because Alan considered Rima the woman of his life. Alan has never criticized Rima because she did not want children ...
Rima has endured a lot and accepted everything. Rima had a great man but also Alan had a great woman at his side!

Alan had always wanted a family but he had spent so much of his life around her and he wouldn't leave her for a younger and more beautiful woman, especially after he got rich and famous
He stayed with her but not because she was extraordinary .
He would stay with any other woman if he met them first.
He was such a gentleman.
But although he never criticized her openly he mentioned that in an ideal situation 3 kids would be dropped on them and they would have been great parents for that family.
He was asked about not having kids in an interview and gave that response.
He could have just said that the family plans didn't work out and leave it at that.
But he wanted his fans to know that he was not the only one involved in that decision, meaning that it was her who didn't want kids .
Too late for him to look for someone else so he had to abide by her decision .
So sad😥 well now she is alone she has no children or grandchildren to care for her, to comfort her to love her as she gets older. This was her choice so she'll have to live with it.

She has tons of stories of “loving” children who dumped their parents off in nursing homes and never visit them. Some children couldn’t even be in the room when their parent passed. Having kids doesn’t guarantee anything.

Folks are disgusting. Her reasons for not wanting children are her own. And maybe she couldn't have kids have you ever thought of that? Maybe her husband was more respectful of her personal choices because sometimes as someone myself who cannot have children and cannot carry full-term, it's much easier to say that you don't want children. Because then it is your choice to not have them, and not everybody wants to admit the fact that that choice was taken from them. Whatever her reasons are or her own and if you guys even with his death cannot respect his choice to stay with his love of his life regardless of whether or not she gave him children and he still loved her, is disgusting behavior on your part as a fan.

If Alan had kids with her and a dog like he wanted one,he would get unconditional love from them .

reminds me of my relationship...going on 8 years with the love of my life, he literally saved my life and I love him even more for it. I pray that we are together forever like Alan and Rima were.

After reading this, I have all sorts of unpleasant thoughts towards Rima. Can't help it. Well, it was her decision, but you could see how much Alan loved children: the way he treated the 3 HP kids. Daniel, Emma and Ronald all considered him a fatherly figure, he was always gentle and kind towards them. Also you can see how fond he looks surrounded by children in A Little Chaos. Ok he is playing a role, but he has a certain glow in his eyes.
In my opinion true love means not denying the other one a chance for happiness and fulfillment.
He loved her dearly and respected her decisions, but did she?
Anyway who am I to judge.
She'll just have to face life now... Alone.
She probably had a good reason why she didn't want children. Also yes I can see the same thing when watching sense and sensibility, A little chaos, he has a certain glow in his eyes. Same with behind the scenes of Harry Potter and the stories you hear from Daniel, Rupert and Emma.

I agree that Rickman would have made a great dad and it's sad he doesn't have a kid. But we duno the reason. It could be she doesn't like kids, health problems, doesn't think she can do justice to raising a child properly..
What I find admirable is Alan's decision to honour his wife. He sees her as an equal partner and not a baby making machine. Not many men can do that. Given that most childcare, pregnancy and childbirth fall on women, isnt it great that a wife is heard and understood by a husband?

They didn't move in together in 1997. They lived together since 1967.
That is not correct actually. They met in 1965, they were friends for five years before they moved in together. Later in the seventies he lived a little while with Ruby Wax and her boyfriend. From 1987 to 1997, they each had separate homes, though not far apart. When he moved out of Rima's place, he said, "We have to be apart to stay together". Then his mother died in 1997 and he was devastated. That's when they moved back in together in a new place in London. So although they kept their relationship going, they did not live with each other all those years.
That was so selfish of rima I think although I totally respect her decision ..but surly everybody who loved and still love him would also love to have some Alan parts and soul remain in this world ...gosh ....how hard decision was it. ...besides I think he would have made an incredible father ....I'm always taken buy the idea of him having a daughter ...I think he was very lonely ....may you rip dear Alan

You are right, he was lonely and couldn't even get a dog, she didn't want that either. If he had a child or a dog to come home too, I believe he would have been happier and healthier.
No it would not be that easy for him to leave her, after being together so long. Maybe he thought at first she would change her mind. Once he got famous it would be nearly impossible for him to find someone else, who he knew truly loved him for himself not his money and fame. Plus he wouldn't want to humiliate or embarrass Rima by leaving her. There are thousands of people stuck in relationships that they can't get out of, for many different reasons. They try to make the best of it. Happens all the time. Alan isn't immune to that either just because he's rich and famous, but he was kind, thoughtful, selfless, and faithful. He deserved more in life. He deserved the world
@@okso48299 It was selfish of her, very. Now that Alan is gone and she is all by herself and she's getting older she's going to realize what a mistake she made and not having children. She could have had children and grandchildren now to comfort her, care and love her, but she chose not to. She doesn't even have a part of him to remind her of him. No, there were no fertility problems or . He said I noticed the I would have loved to have had children. This was not a choice. You have to realize I'm not in this alone, someone else is involved. That's what he said if one of them had a fertility problem especially if it was her he would simply say yes we wanted children notice we we wanted children but sadly that didn't happen. End. Of. Story. Nothing more ever need to be said but he didn't say it that way so that was not the case, sadly she just did not want children. I can't imagine when they first started going together that Alan never brought a children with her cuz they were important to him very important. He mentioned wanting three children. So I have to assume that she let him think that they would have children later on. Otherwise why stay with her if they just started dating? Not much history between them yet. At some point find me a caught up with them or she just came out and told him I never really wanted children. Then it was too late for him 😪
