100% by the book (the bmw owners book), your level should be around the inner circle, not the side lines that i usually follow. This check should be done with the engine at op temp after stopping the engine and allowing 5 min to pass . All on a flat surface. My measurements lead to less oil vs by the book method . Now to answer your question, more oil than it should leads to high interior pressure and either it will push it out or burn it. extreme high level of oil can lead to damage
1. I already had some 10w40 from my previous bike. 2. 10w40 was on sale at my usual parts shop 3. 5w40 vs 10w40 will have a difference only in cold starting conditions, 5w offers less friction than 10w however at normal engine temp both are the same 40. As in The uk you don't see below 0 deg, the 10W40 is more than Ok.
@@BestCarModsI bought some to try and the final verdict by the pro shop sellers was that it also has a short life after the first heat cycle, the organic eaters become less effective, so ideally they said it can last a track weekend, but maybe a week or two weeks. It also apparently falls on its face in two stages, first when the esters expire and one when the oil no longer creates the right friction and it really falls on its face recommended to know the point to not get to it.
nice Video
Thumbs up and keep it up 🔥
Good thorough job mate!
Good job mate, what happens if you fill up the oil above that level

Hey great video, it’s given me the confirmation to try it! Will I need to reset any electrical warning lights? I’ve a 2019.
Cheers
yes. if you are uk based and near Swindon I can help with that
The manuel owner ask for 5w40 .. why do you use 10w40 ?

Use Motul 300V-10W40
I might try it. when I was reading about it, apparently it is not good for high mileage, however I don't do high mileage
