    Longtime vegetarian (22 years now) with two boys. Two healthy and perfect pregnancies and babies. I had one miscarriage in between my two pregnancies, it's so extremely common, especially after a previous pregnancy or getting off of birth control as hormones are still getting out the kinks. I don't blame you for wanting to do everything you can to feel healthy. It is completely possible however, without question, to have a perfect pregnancy and perfectly healthy baby (my oldest was an 8.5 pounder, haha) without meat. Just saying this so that if it doesn't work for you for some reason after trying it a while, you don't have to feel like you're not doing things right or like you're lacking in anything. Don't feel bad either way, just do what brings you the most peace. ❤️ Much love, lovely Julia.

      Vanessa, this is a fair point and I do agree vegetarians can be healthy, but I do also think for some people who have had acne and used acne related drugs, we can sometimes have digestive issues which mean we need more animal products than others to be healthy. Might not be the case with Julia, but it's worth her giving it a go, she definitely isn't making herself less healthy eating things like salmon and a bit of chicken! animal products have pre converted vitamins and nutrients that, as I said, can be hard for some people (for many reasons) to synthesize within their own bodies.

    • @dreamingofautumn
      @dreamingofautumn 3 года назад

      @@lamarr1986 Oh, I agree. I think everybody needs to eat what makes them feel the best, regardless of dietary guidelines. Intuitive eating, if you will. I think some people need more fat than others, others more protein, etc. I definitely don't judge Julia's choices whatsoever, I just want her to feel assured if eating meat doesn't work out for her that she needn't worry. That's all. 🙂 I have always been completely disgusted with meat but I do eat dairy products. For me being a vegetarian isn't really a choice, meat just literally makes me retch. I can't handle it. 😝 I'm not sure about Julia's reasons for being a vegetarian but I'm basically just trying to give her some soon-to-be mama reassurance. ❤️

      I literally just talked about this with my bf. I've always had a problem with my weight and the thought of eating 3 eggs at once would never occur to me, I'd tell myself that's too much. 3 meals a day and snacks? healthy food or not, my relationship with food and my body would make me feel so much guilt for eating "that much" (which honestly isn't a huge amount)
      my brain has been so warped from a literal LIFETIME of dieting and being "too big" and "too much" I have spent 22 years at war with my body.

      Hi, Renee!! I've struggled with an eating disorder most of my life and have been in and out of treatment centers. I've experienced every eating disorder type under the sun and can tell you that you are doing the RIGHT thing for you and your body by sticking to portions that satiate you and not listening to what your family says (I'm so sorry about that, by the way. That sounds really unhelpful and difficult to deal with to get those messages from them!!!). I know for a fact that if you truly satisfy your hunger cues your body will balance out in the end. Just keep going! Everyone's metabolism is different so portions are relative. The most important thing is eating enough so you don't binge! Even if you gain weight at first and it feels unnatural I promise your body will balance out over time... I'd say focus less on weight and more on satisfying your hunger. Everything falls into place in the end (and even if you are at a higher weight than you wish you could be I promise your body will thank you in the end and just eating regularly helps your body realize it doesnt have to hold on to extra energy stores, so you'll likely lose any uncomfortable added 'energy stores'... i.e. fat hahah). Sorry this is long. Just super relatable and want to let you know you're doing the right thing -- keep going ❤️❤️❤️

    If you really want to make a conscious decision about eating meat, I think it’s best to educate yourself (or if you have then remind yourself) on what actually happens to animals before they end up on your plate. Because we can loose the connection again as to what happens to them because we don’t see what they go through before they are packaged up on the supermarket shelves. And we can forget that they do have a face...

    Hey Julia. First off let me point out that I love your content and I'm thankful you put out so many different kinds of videos that help me relax and inspire me all the time. Something in this video caught my attention though, and I feel like I want to speak out, partially because you have such a huge audience. Maybe I missed it, but I believe you didn't really address your reasons _why_ you are eating chicken meat again. There's a reason why it freaks you out to remove chicken meat from the bone - that meat comes from an animal, an individual. Chickens are just as deserving of life as any other living creature. They don't want to suffer and die. As an ethical vegan who strongly objects to the unnecessary torturing and killing of any animal - as it _is_ unnecessary seeing how you can live a perfectly healthy and tasteful life as a vegan, I myself am proof of that - I feel like it requires a more elaborate explanation as to why you decided to eat chicken again. What nutrients were you missing out on when you weren't eating chicken? Anyway, I don't want to come across as disrepectful and I'd rather educate than judge, so I'm curious to hear about your reasons and love to help you out if possible. I have built up quite some experience replacing animal products with plant-based alternatives so I'm glad to be of assistance.
    PS: Same goes for the salmon and dairy, by the way, which are also (by)products from the suffering of living creatures.

    I stumbled across your asmr videos then watched a few others which resonated with me. It is refreshing to watch something real and not overly commercialized and relate-able. Just wanted to say I relate a lot to this video too. I went on an almost identical route from vegetarian for many years to eating fish then chicken only, which I am also conflicted about. Considering my love for all things avian, it really is a conflict. But I chose to incorporate chicken and turkey meat after I couldn't keep weight on and became really anemic on a plant based diet. I was tired all the time and my hair started falling out too. Luckily after a few months of incorporating meat, supplements and a few other tweaks it made an incredible difference. One other thing, I also struggled with acne and roseaca for years. Two things I cannot recommend enough. Proactiv, it immediately cleared my skin of acne and drinking celery juice daily took down the redness and inflammation. The juice also dramatically helped my autoimmune condition too. Anyway, thanks for posting your content! Will be subscribing.

I had completely put the idea of ever having a baby out of my mind a long time ago, but like you, I knew I was pregnant the minute it happened, even after 10 years of no such luck. I just knew. My baby was born two months early and she was in the NICU for a month, but she's home now, and she's perfect. When I look at her I see the best part of myself. There really is no feeling that I can compare it to. I'm not really sure why I felt I needed to tell you that, other than to say I just know should you and Nick decide to try again, you will make wonderful parents. Everything will happen when it's meant to happen. My beautiful baby is proof of that. ❤
    Wishing you both health and happiness.

    There's nothing controversial about the topic itself, but I think there was no need to preface it with how people don't eat "real" food anymore/there's not much "real" food anymore etc. A molecule is the same regardless of whether it's naturally occurring or synthesized so it's perfectly fine to take supplements when on vegan/vegetarian diet to make sure everything's in order, and it's just as healthy. Veganism and vegans already suffer from a huge stigma and attacks from the "all-natural"/"real" advocates that fear-monger people into thinking that enriched food/supplements is poison and draw people away from environmentally conscious choices for fear of malnutrition. If you meant the introduction to serve a different context I apologise, but given the title of the video it seems clear it we in relation to veganism/vegetarianism and implied your choice to eat meat was a choice towards healthier/"real" diet as opposed to a personal preference/personal health decision. You also mention how controversial it is and ask for understanding multiple times as if people will come screaming at you for a personal choice, but that's not the case (unless they're just bullies regardless). If there's anything people would be criticizing you for, it's for the inaccurate health information that I pointed at in the beginning - there is no need to portray vegans as irrational bullies.
    I still love your videos and glad you made a choice for yourself that felt right. I just felt that the way you presented it seemed misleading and thought I'd express that. I hope it doesn't come off harsh and that you are well!

      Same here. I did what I call "part-time vegan" where I ate two vegan meals a day and the third could be whatever (I actually still do this some days by accident - I'm not a huge meat eater as is). I made sure I ate sources of protein, I took iron, B vitamins etc and I eat lots of veggies and fruit anyway. But I felt crappy, and the final point was where the top of one of my nails peeled off like it was a sticker randomly. It's not for all of us.

    • @GabrielWarlock
      @GabrielWarlock 3 года назад +1

      Maybe the problem lies in some aminoacidic decificiency. I for one still follow a Mediterranean diet and have limited a lot my meat consumption but never felt truly tired when going without it.
      While recalibrating my diet towards a more healthy and plant based model I still eat dairy, eggs, poultry and of course (rarely) steaks. Because let's be honest, it's hard to go on without those.
      But you're right: guidelines aside, some people are just not built for certain diets

    It sometimes blows my mind how people choose to eat vegan/vegetarian or whatever because of reasons and maybe knowing about animal products and their bad impact in the world but then, when they choose to eat meat again, are totally surprised when people don't like their decision. I myself was vegan for 2 years but sometimes eat fish now, and I know it's bad and people have the right to judge me. You can do whatever you want but don't expect people to accept all your choices. I am 100% convinced that only a small percentage of people truly need meat in their diet. Everyone else is just not interested in changing. And that's fine folks. But don't act like it's such a unique and special thing, almost like your diet is part of your identity. It's not that deep.

    Yes and no. Of course you do you. I have a vegan past and at some point I just couldn't pursue my strictly plant-based way. The moment I started to reintroduce meat, my life was better.
    Still, eating 🍖 remains a dilemma: Why do we love our pets like family members and still kill others?
    I feel that once we have cared enough for ourselves, we should care for the animals, too.
    Why breastfeed our babies until they're 5 years old and have cow's milk and cheese that aren't meant for us, from cows that have to watch their calves in small boxes and then are impregnated over and over again?
    So basically, I don't understand why people don't rather ditch the dairy instead of the meat.

That being said, I do understand when those people feel they need to incorporate some meat back into their life (can't imagine what it must feel like to eat literal flesh again, but I digress). I appreciate that you still make plant-based meals where you can, and limit your meat intake. I think that's what's most important: that you eat consciously.
