The way that the Diamonds became good guys after Steven forgave them was what really killed the show for me. Imagine Fire Lord Ozai or Homelander being redeemed because of hugs and songs. That would be fucking infuriating.
The Diamonds should've been bubbled or straight up shattered. Imagine the show ending with White being shattered and Yellow and Blue being bubbled permernently. Homeworld is now free and the Diamonds are either dead or trapped
And the show villainized pink diamond...yk the literal victim of their abuse? Ah yes this emotionally complex character whos done lots of good for gems and humanity with some serious past fuck ups is the true monster here, not the literal genocide dictators
The diamonds weren't really reedeemed. It's more like Steven uses the fact that he's all that's left of their dead sister to keep them on a tight leash because their powers are kinda needed for certain problems to be solved
I like that lars went through a serious character arc and had to improve drastically over just being an asshole. But the literal villains of the series just needed to show how much they missed their abuse victim and all is forgiven
I'm still pissed they didn't make White Diamond this all-seeing,all-knowing dictator that's like a hybrid of INGSOC and Emperor Palpatine. Think of it,she rules a galactic empire! She's got to be ruthless to maintain that and the strict Gem caste system! It'd make sense for her to be this ruthless tyrant, she needs to keep her creations in line somehow so why not fear?
Admittedly I don't know how I feel about this video. While I think some of your claims are valid(the murdering Jasper part), I think others are an overly simplified view on future/the movie. There's something to be said about how sometimes people will just act in a completely different manor to how they are usually if pushed enough, and how some mental illnesses can cause states of psychosis. I think the final episode of steven universe is representitive of moving out of your parents' house because it's just bad for your mental health. I know that when I was stuck in my parent's house where I was dead named/misgendered, I was utterly miserable, and the stress caused my intrusive thoughts to flare up more than usual. Like the example you pointed out with Jasper, it was very much not okay that steven murdered her, but after he did it he was horrified. I know that he did it, accident or no, but it very much was an accident. With Spinel not moving, I feel like it was more like a physical representation of a relationship where you're so scared to let go of the other person, that you end up just staying in this rotting garden of a relationship where barely anything changes. You can see Spinel doubt if she should stay put in the song, but she dissmisses it, because the alternitive(reality), would upheave her life and what she thought of pink diamond/rose. tldr: I agree with some of what you're saying(ex: the finale), but I feel like some of your cirticisms are oversimplifying what actually happens in the show
i was so back and forth on whether or not i agree with this, but i think i totally do the way steven universe future characterized steven completely ruined him imo i think the connie hate is a little unfounded, while i agree she was a total dick to steven, she’s just as much of a child as steven
@@ceasarcatsalad14 I mean, in a court of law it does. Manslaughter means you did kill them, but not intentionally. The fight between Jasper and Steven specifically would be classified as voluntary manslaughter, since he did kill Jasper, but it was in the heat of the moment and not premeditated.
Steven Universe really isn't that good in hindsight. Great music, great character designs, great lore and concepts but man,I fucking hated the last half of the series, especially with how White Diamond could've been so much more...
Ehh, I think that’s an overgeneralization. There are definetly a lot of things that didn’t work, but there are also a lot of things that really did. Sure people can say they don’t like it, but there are enough people who are super impacted by this show and enjoy it enough to say that it really has a lot of things going for it. I’d say, a polarizing show at the worst. Overall net positive imo from what I’ve seen
I don't really remember them going too far into Steven's trauma til later in the seasons, maybe two times. I think that everything hitting Steven at once is fairly realistic if you've experienced trauma that you sort of closed off. I know I've felt a similar experience. Although I don't think steven was having anger issues until later in future, before that it was emotional outbursts, fighting Jasper was a way to work out that frustration
As someone who occassionally saw clips of Steven Universe (on top of seeing reviews from other people), I've never been a fan of the show. I know it's got potential to be good, and Rebecca Sugar does have talent. But it can only go so far, since the writing is still really lacking. Maybe that's why I haven't been so lenient on the series. And seeing how the series came to a close, it really aged so poorly in my opinion.

Blue and yellow are at least somewhat believable after the end of the original but ain’t no way white turned around that fast
STEVEN. DIDN'T. FORGIVE. THE. DIAMONDS.

This rant-review hybrid is pretty entertaining. You should do this more with stuff that you like/dislike or you're "passionate" about
It all started when Enlaa was revisiting Steven Universe that I just joined in the rabbit hole of spiraling madness. Fun times, fun times. 😂
Take a shot ever time "murder" is spoken
You will die.
@@TheActualEnlaa do not threaten me
I don’t know how this ended up in my recommendations
I liked lesbian space rocks-- until I didn't.
Im seeing this comment in the murdering husband/father documentary meme format
Yeah.

finding this channel is very cool
4:05 I'm lowkey so happy somebody else gets it. Connie's such a drag dude.
No because Lion ALSO flat out abandoned Steven, like really picking her over him 💀
@@T_E_G That damn fraudulent pussy. 😮💨
It wasn't attempted murder, it was manslaughter. Steven didn't intend to kill Jasper.
They still killed them, the word doesn't change what happened
