Exactly. What's the point of having a user-repairable device if, after 2 upgrades, it's no longer supported? This is as corrupt as having to throw away my Dell XPS laptop because it doesn't support Windows 11. We need tougher laws because at the moment the O/S and hardware vendors are fleecing us all.
Man, didnt realise HMD were so pro reparability. Honestly, the only thing really stopping most users from daily driving this phone for like 5+ years would be OS and security updates which is a shame. Good review though. Camera is always going be kinda terrible at this price point.
@@buzzrot I actually got one finally for a really good price. Camera is very usable indeed. It's not going to win awards, but it's very far from bad. OS updates is the real problem with this phone as the phone itself works just fine. If the EU wanted to push a law that actually has value, then they should make any phone sold have at least 4 years OS updates and 5 years security patches. I think you would find that would really cut down on the E-waste while giving the consumer something of real value!
It's an ideal work phone. Maybe not office work, but if your outdoors a lot then it's a good choice, especially with it's camera being so competent. Throw on a rugged outfit and away you go. The screen Res isn't a deal breaker as a work phone, and it's powerful enough. But if it's a daily driver your after, you are going to want to look elsewhere
The worst part about HMD's phones is that they are insanely overpriced in most countries.. Here in middle east, it costs 900 riyals(400 USD) and compared to other phones at this price point, its insanely shit in terms of both camera and performance.. which means these phones will probably start lagging after 4 yrs of usage..
hello, can you confirm that the phone supports FM radio (ie no internet required to listen to the radio. only headphones as an antena)? On Ifixit it is said that it does, but everywhere elses I read that it is not the case.
My Moto Z4 is better as a phone that supports mods. The RAM is the only thing that is better on this phone and obviously the software is more up to date.
I love my Z4, but it's not as repairable. Hopefully these "outfits" cost less than the Moto Mods did so we can wider adoption and innovation in the smartphone market.
Thank you! There aren't many reviews of HMD devices on YT right now.
I wish HMD would provide more OS updates. It detracts a lot from the repairability.

This was a comprehensive review, and deserves way more Likes than it has.

If you only drive a phone for 2yrs like me, it's fine. But yeah a repairable phone with only 2 updates is a bit weird lol
But the bootloader is still locked
@@OHHHHUSBANT No custom roms then. Shit!
@@StonebenchBishopHeberCollege yeah, hmd have a reputation for bring repairable, but not unlocking the bootloader for you to mod on

Something tells me that this device was significantly inspired by Nothing's CMF Phone 1.
Thank for this really well made review. You earned a new sub
Thank you, appreciate that!

Does the hotspot feature working well?
This feels like upgraded Pulse Pro
I paid £99 for a Motorola G32… It’s the same phone de-shelled 😂
720p ? Really ? In 2024...
yeah feels like most phones in the same range is at least 1080p
Great review. HMD is a great company. Checkout my take on the upcoming Moon Knight.
Thanks man, had a look at your videos, nice and informative, all the best 👍
This is a Motorola G32
If the bootloader is unlockable, it's a no-go for me. I pass.
Bailee Underpass
I don't like their squared no thought logo on the back , doesn't look slick
King Valleys
So its just repairability not upgradable... No thanks lol

Holy bezels 😂

For that money, its poor performance
processor is very poor.
