Glad we got Tobias back!
Me too!!
Saw that Gary Trent jr stock is falling and teams might not even offer 12.5 million one year contract. I think if pistons could swoop in and give say 2 years and 15 mil or less per year that’s a good signing.
I like the Tobias signing. I think the money and years are right. But I feel like the moves that have been made so far are exactly what Troy would've done this off season.
The same owners the same plan. Just a new public face and future scape goat
Exactly!
@@darrylburchjr.1444 overpay it should be a vet minimun he is not an all star 0 points in game 6 vs knicks klay thompson gets 3 years 50 million then a guy like harris got paid for 2 years with 52 million .🤦 Bad buseness deal for piston.
Funny they are making all the moves that were rumored before Langdon took over.
It feels like everything that is going on in the world of basketball, we all predicted 😂😂. PG13 to philly, Bronny getting drafted to the Lakers, Klay not returning to GS, and now Tobias to the Pistons.
It's because people are now seeing how obvious and staged most moves are. Stevie Wonder could see LeBron son being drafted even while scoring 5 points average and after a heart attack.
Very solid!
Klay got 3 years 50 million then this guy gets 52 million 2 years ? Fuck it should be 3 years tobias gets again a money that he dont deserve 🤦 he dont get injury because he dont want to get physical he only makes pull up shot this guy is soft 🤦
If bad thing on this deal is his playoff performance then for Detroit this is good deal, we may back into playoffs next year, this s probably stretch goal, if we do with Tobias then this signing is a win. I like having Tobias, THJ and if we sign FONTECCHIO we then have 3 shooters to go with our core. Honestly would like one more shooter, good offseason so far.
This is still a 20-win team.
@@scottwickett1273 Time will tell.
@@kda1024 How could it not be?
What I love to see Trajan so far with his draft, hires, trades and signing is he’s just going out and getting the best things he can get. He’s not like Troy weaver and being too aggressive on a bunch of randos: he’s steadily building a stronger team and culture. Great signing!
We will see how it goes and I will save judgement for afterwards
Tobias and Tim two vets I'm cool with it
I like the deal short-term. Contract productive veteran who's been pretty consistent over the years. He is a floor spacer and I also like the Tim Hardaway deal, neither one of of are superstars. But both are Productive players.
Amazing signing
Klay got 3 years 50 million then this guy gets 52 million 2 years ? Fuck it should be 3 years tobias gets again a money that he dont deserve 🤦 he dont get injury because he dont want to get physical he only makes pull up shot this guy is soft 🤦
If he stays healthy it's a great deal!
Naji Marshall wanted 27 mill should’ve gotten him
Yes, he's better!
We probably offered it to him but he didn’t sign because we won 14 games last season
2 yrs vs 3 yrs, it's still not a bad deal actually
He didn’t wanna come here. Most people don’t. 🤷🏽♂️
Naji and Jalen Smith could have been had for the Tobias money. Two young veterans with upside.
I've said it before and I'll say it again. Beggars cannot be choosers. Many of the players the Pistons were rumored to be targeting already signed with other teams. Tobias may not have been the best option at his position, but was someone willing to come to Detroit despite our record and infamy throughout the league.
There was still no reason to do this.
Langdon has done more positive work in a few weeks then weaver did in a few years
Other than hiring a shooting coach what has he done?
The Grant FA signing by Weaver was much more impressive.
😂😂😂 there’s now way you can justify this. Toby is big trash 😂😂😂
LOL, After Weaver cleared the books and drafted the youth?
I disagree.
@@ronaldmcdonald1977 ok 👌
@@ronaldmcdonald1977 Weaver was the worst GM who ever lived. Stop it.
Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!
Lol he's not gone help the Pistons
Nope!
AHH MY FEELINGS
Good signing by Trajan. 2yr deal is great, money is a tick higher than what I wanted to see but he did have other suitors. If he plays well enough he might be an attractive asset to a contending team next offseason.
That last part is the only possible benefit here, and I fear the number is too high to be flippable.
Good Deal 🏀👍🏾
Tobias Harris 2 yr.52 million contract is a DAMN JOKE!!!!
Yes, it's dumb as fucking shit.
Im fine with this short deal, wish he was a better defender. We have to spend the cap space somewhere and realistic options were limited 🤷🏾♂️
Solid signing. 🙏
Nope.
Haven't the Pistons been watching Harris play. My goodness. Harris is a vet min player with what he gives a team.
No matter what the pistons do somebody’s not gonna like it
Klay got 3 years 50 million then this guy gets 52 million 2 years ? Fuck it should be 3 years tobias gets again a money that he dont deserve 🤦 he dont get injury because he dont want to get physical he only makes pull up shot this guy is soft 🤦
Now all we need is a stretch 5
Mo Bamba and bolbol
Stew is going to be the backup center.
Ivey, Ron, Ausar, and Stew. I'm not sure if Sasser or someone else takes the last spot in the rotation.
@@pheralanpathfinder4897 Again, Stew should start.
@@scottwickett1273 stew should start but if we don't trade Duren he will start.
Cade and Duren will fill up the box score with THJ, Fontecchio and Tobias. But they'll give up even more.
Im not mad at all. I really wanted Miles
Like the move this is what this young core needs. Now Detroit needs to trade for Robinson to be a bridge for Duren. Duren will have to out work him on defense to start and that will help him reach his full potential.
Duren should not start over Stew, because Duren sucks.
And this Tobi thing makes no sense, why pay him too much to be flippable when you're gonna lose 60+ anyway?
@@scottwickett1273 Ok your opinion
@@Truthtella Which part? It's a fact that Duren sucks and it's a fact that Stew is therefore a lot better than Duren.
(Reasonable people can probably disagree on the wisdom of the Tobi signing.)
@@scottwickett1273Stew will be the backup center. Duren sells more jerseys and tickets while helping maximize our draft position.
@@pheralanpathfinder4897 So you agree he sucks.
Tobias is a garbage scorer type of player
He scores at the nost pointless time and disappears when he is needed
They shouldn't have a traded him first place.
Miles Bridges would be better!!
They probably didn’t want all the drama that came with him
He's a slightly better more entertaining player but ppl don't like him
Miles going to get more years. Tobias very short term.
Eww
You spelt smaller** wrong
Too much money 🤷♂
Not gonna act like he makes the Pistons a playoff team. But a solid veteran (very cliche) who can provide some much needed scoring and spacing
I'll reserve my comments for further evaluation...
I love it
Slightly overpay still serviceable and a upgrade
Nobody wants to come here. Overpaid is basically every move we would do.
@@scottshomo2205 I know this not a overpay for Pistons but slightly overpay for Harris
Wild overpay, horribly stupid move.
I mean, yeah, I have to thinking about it.They need some sort of continuity in consistency and familiarity with the organization plus a play that I can give you good productive minutes and plays long term throughout the season without very high rate of injury
He's serviceable, and better than the Hardaway Jr pickup. But hes definitely ot a game changer. Not sure we'd have won more games with Hardaway Jr last year, but we're probably good for 7-10 more wins with Harris.
Why do you think he's better than Hardaway? He isn't, and they should not have wanted this Tobi contract unless getting bribed with picks like they did in the Hardaway deal.
(7-10 more wins via Tobi is FUCKING INSANE.)
@@scottwickett1273 Bad take. He makes better decisions with the ball than Hardaway, he plays better D than Hardaway, he has better percentages than Hardaway, he is more disciplined within a system than Hardaway.
@@scottwickett1273 ruclips.net/user/shortsyjnmEUhrx8g?si=u9Q6QZgOsw40tYAb
I’m really happy about the price and the two years. We could trade the expiring contract for assets to someone if they offer something appetizing
How is our depth chart spinning as of right now?
Could have signed Williams and Oubre for less than they signed Harris for
oubre lmao, why would we want him
@@mizurp Just say you don't watch basketball.
@@trevorpage4223 who you ? Clearly you don’t. Oubre can’t shoot or do anything
@@mizurp sure that's why Philadelphia re signed him day 1 of free agency huh?
@@trevorpage4223 after one good game?
26 mill a year for a 31 yo averaging 17 PPG and has only played 82 games twice in his career is not good business.
Correct, this makes no sense.
This does make sense, he is very good veteran player on a short term deal
He has played 70+ games the past 3 seasons. Who plays 82 games ever anymore? Vet, floor spacer, can give you 17/5 pretty consistently. Great asset to help Cade next season. Makes a ton of sense. Only a 2yr deal makes it even better.
@@Keeb5ter What's the goal here, though? They're gonna lose 60+, and you can do that WITHOUT Tobi, which would allow you to use that cap space collecting more assets.
Great signing 😸😸
Seth curry would have been better
Tobias isn't a bad deal since its only two seasons.
But we didn't go after long term players like Naji Marshall or Jalen Smith.
Yhis is shaping up to be a very disappointing summer.
Yeah this is sad and u got all this clowns in the comments talking about I like this signing on paper we are still pitiful lol I don't know what they did to the NBA to never get the number one pick
Maybe those players didn’t want to come here! We’re not attractive to players and Detroit has never been a feee agent destination
@@MC603503 that's often referred to as the Detroit Tax. It means having to overpay players a little bit to get them. We could have offered both about 50% more than they got and still had some of the Tobias cap left over. Or sign Tobias and fill out the remaining spots with minimum contracts.
It's a terrible deal.
Tobiass Harass
If the Pistons somehow signed prime Jordan this off season Pistons fans would still bitch.
I like what Trajan has done so far. I hope he can absorb another "sin" contract for additional assets and hopefully address a backup PG (Tyus Jones) and a Rim Protecting Big (Goga Bitadze). Sign another shooter with the Mid Level, and let the young guys grow within a rotation, not throwing them in the deep end of the pool to sink or swim.
I have no problem with us signing Tobias but I really wish we could have signed KCP and Jonas Valančiūnasnis too.
Klay got 3 years 50 million then this guy gets 52 million 2 years ? Fuck it should be 3 years tobias gets again a money that he dont deserve 🤦 he dont get injury because he dont want to get physical he only makes pull up shot this guy is soft 🤦
It's a ok deal but I rather gave that deal to Miles Bridges he should be around that type of deal it maybe less for him to
Glad it's not 3-4 years. We need to use the cap money. Nobody's else coming. Can be good trade piece next year. Just stay in the lottery top five one more year.
I like it good money got to spend it
Tobias is a good vet. But he better as a rotation player for a contender.
He shot close to 50% the past 4 years as a PF. Hes solid. We will lack in rebounding, but he will score.
We will be athletic with him and Duren. We wont be able to stop anyone though.
If the Pistons make shots, we won't need to rely so much on rebounding... on the offensive side of course.
between ausar and duren we should still be able to get a decent amount of rebounds
He will score😅.
Bohan 2.0. Hopefully won't have the injuries to go along with declining defense.
Guess what, Pistons can play 5-out now. Stew, Toby, Tek, THJ, Cade
Cmon Detroit bring Miles Bridges 🙌
I personally like the signing because you gave Cade the bag now it’s incumbent upon you to put competent players around him so he can maximize his greatness he’s had below average talent since getting drafted to Detroit
Have to spend to the cap floor. Only a 2 yr contract. Can space the floor, but not a rebounder.
Klay got 3 years 50 million then this guy gets 52 million 2 years ? Fuck it should be 3 years tobias gets again a money that he dont deserve 🤦 he dont get injury because he dont want to get physical he only makes pull up shot this guy is soft 🤦 only loves money haha
To keep it simple. They brought in about 30-40 guaranteed points with Tobi and THJ. They still a couple moves away for me to be completely satisfied. They're doing what I thought as of now.
Fuck my life.
A we gotta get who we can, smh.
There was no reason to get him, though.
if h dont play good its terrible.
Miles Bridges
It's a ok signing because overall no one wants to come here as a FA so this thinking that we could do so much better is unrealistic the way this roster is constructed.
No it's not.
