You really need to see the "official" video...it`s pretty cool when the choir walks in to the studio and starts singing. Watch the video and you will appreciate the song more. Foreigner had many hits.
I just can't believe these two they miss out so much on great songs without watching the accompanying videos that go with them. I'm in total agreement with you when the choir came in it brought tears in my eyes.👍
Saw Foreigner in concert in 1985 for the Agent Provocateur Tour. There was a church choir sitting in the audience and stood up to sing this song with the band. It was beautiful.
He's not asking what love is. He knows without being able to define it that what he feels for her is love. What he's saying is that he wants that feeling... that he knows whatever love is, however you define it, he feels it with her and it's a feeling that he wants. It is the ultimate love anthem.
Normally I disagree because the video is often a distraction from the depth of the music BUT in this case the video I feel strengthens the meaning behind the song.
Everytime I hear this song, I always think of those who have never felt true love, and those who sit in their silent reverie dreaming of true love; abused children and many homeless. We need to make love a pandemic because not enough are catching it, or spreading it. Much ❤️ Asia and BJ as always for another great reaction. Foreigner are great.
In concert this song is sooooo great. The crowd becomes the choir and it goes on for a while. A real show stopper. And a lot of tears shed. The video they put out for this is very special as well. If you get a chance. watch it.
Foreigner is one of my favorite bands of all time, and they’re very underrated! I feel like they should be recognized more because they are so damn talented and their music is amazing. I really wish you would’ve reacted to the video because it’s more impactful maybe you did and I just haven’t found it yet but it would’ve been a way better reaction.
You guys are starting the year right playing all these inspirational songs of hope and Love that is setting up the energy of the year of 2022!!!! This song is an original like Bridge Over Trouble Waters which brings hope!!!! This song is written by Foreigner!!! Excellent song and Group!!!!
Lou Gramm , the lead singer , was often voted in the Top 5 Greatest Rock Singers , often no.3 behind Steve Perry (Journey) and Brad Delp (Boston)....Foreigner did plenty of great tunes as mentioned below
This song is still Foreigner's biggest hit song ever!!! It went all the way to #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart back in early 1985. It stayed at #1 for 2 weeks. This is the greatest love song ever, period!!! But the song is also very spiritual because the backing vocals of the New Jersey Mass Choir.
Love is the most brutal emotion we humans feel. When you are in love, it is the best, most amazing, can't get enough feeling in the universe. When it goes bad though, it is the most painful thing you will ever feel, nothing can compare to it, not even broken bones.
Sometimes missing the official video really takes away from the impact of the song, the official vid to this one is so great when you see the whole choir and everyone interacting and giving love vibes!
Another Rabbit hole..! "Long Long Way From Home", "Starrider", "Cold As Ice", "Feels Like The First Time", "Head Games", "Double Vision" and so on.....
Went to a Foreigner concert on this tour, because Joe Walsh was opening for them, first time I ever went to a concert to see the opener. Foreigner came on, with the full choir for this song, and BIG YAWN, just what I expected, but i sat it out.
i never realized how blessed i was to have grown up in the beginning thru to the end of rock an roll in the early 90's , when songs were about life and love and tribulation , when we could talk about anything , unlike the crap that replaced it , that cheapened everything and was all about da money an greed and sex , not love , it's no wonder our society is so lost .
Love me some Foreigner. great band great music. Pop/rock of the 80s at it's prime. 3 songs that will blow you way with great energy: "Urgent" "JukeBox Hero" "Cold as Ice" Other bands (some you know already) in the same vein: Night Ranger, Loverboy, Survivor, Journey, Y&T, 38 Special, Chicago
My daughters high school choir got the honor of singing back up to this song 3 years ago during their concert in our town. It was amazing and they were in awe of being onstage with this amazing group! The band do this in most towns they visit, and they offer this opportunity to alot of kids!
Genre: rock power ballad. Rock bands in the 80s discovered if they made at least one power ballad in an album they could sell the entire album on the back of the female fandom gained by that power ballad. The worst could happen would be only that single would sell but they would still gain recognition and cash from its success. Very often this romantic power ballafs would not represent at all the sound of the rest of the album, the dark horse of the album. Very often thus bands became one hit wonders. If they chosed to keep making this kind of ballads they would be seen as sell outs by the rock music fandom (with some reason).
Dont know if i have said this before but u two have to watch the magnificently lavish, glamourous but still dramatic tense and beautifully filmed tv series from the 80s Miami Vice which features this song and others from the era. Stars Don Johnson and title music by Jan Hammer
Lou Graham - what a voice! I put him in the same category as Steve Perry of Journey and Brad Delp of Boston, and Stevie Wonder (thinking of American male singers during the 70s and 80s, anyway). British singers - Freddie Mercury of Queen (of course) and George Michael. There are a lot of great singers in history, but the ones that can really belt them out. I know I'm missing people, but these are the male voices that first come to mind of that era for this genre imo.
Another one where the Video should have been watched.. to see the Choir all in their daily lives.. gathering and heading to sing behind the group.. it was so great.. smiling faces!!!
What a rabbit hole to go down! They have dozens of bangers. They are the music of my youth. Going cruisin with my friends on the weekends and listening to Foreigner. It really didn't get much better.
Highly suggest you watch the music video for this song. Just adds to the emotional impact this song already has!! I've loved this track from day 1. Definitely check out: Juke Box Hero, Urgent, Double Vision, Waiting For A Girl Like You, Say You Will, Hot Blooded. So many amazing tracks!
BJ is such a geezer! (As we say in London UK). Great reaction. In the US I think a geezer is what u call an OG. Not a massive foreigner fan, but this is undoubtedly a classic of all time.
When the song first came out, it was like this hit ballad that was good. Now it comes across as this all-time classic. Not only stood the test of time, it got better
This song used to make me cry when I was younger. Not in sadness or anything...I don't know how to explain it. I don't do that anymore. Thanks for a great vid guys! Your time is always appreciated. Now if you'll excuse me, I must go, my eyes are sweating.
@@brendastafford5827 THANK YOU!! I knew there had to be at least one person who would understand. Now I will confess that I have a small list of songs that I react to this way. I'm amused and confused by it.
too bad ya didn't watch this music video. it is really good. and easy to understand without captions or lyrics. still lovin you guys. shoutout from this old, longhaired rocker dude in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. peace and love. see ya on the next. later
Thanks guys! This is a real vibe! The singer is Lou Gramm. Foreigner is an amazing band with some great tracks. But without Lou, they'll never reach the stars again. But they were HOT!
I love Foreigner! It takes me back to the 70’s, small town Oklahoma, Chan’s hamburger joint, eating chili cheese fries after school, me and my middle school friends acting the fools to “Juke Box Hero” and “Cold as Ice” waiting for someone to give us a ride? Cause none of us could drive to the more upscale Sonic or Dixie’s Hamburger Joint. 😂 Asia don’t give him any pointers about love, he ain’t feeling the heartache and pain with you, unless he asks you again to tell him what love is! 😂 check out their other songs, they are a really great band with some really great songs! 💗
This song is about men who are scared of love So much the fear makes them speechless Songs like this one All they need to do is push play Hold their woman close Look into her eyes & she will know where ur heart is And how much he loves her Can I get an Amen
I recommend when reacting to sons from this era, to look for the (MTV) music video. Almost all songs debuted on MTV and very memorable. Thus song is a primary example that features a black gospel choir for the backup vocals.
Music fact: The concept album tells the story of a spy who can see through the life inside and outside of man. Brings back childhood memories. I learned about the storyline when I got older🖤
This is one of the most soaring love anthems of all time. Not bad, for four decades old now. "Urgent" is a must from this band, if you have not hit it yet.
That was in the day a fabulously emotional love ballad haven't heard it for a long time brought back some lovely memories your reaction was so warm and heart felt I really enjoyed that thank you yoel
Asia… If he wants you to tell him what love is…. Just quote wha Louis Armstrong said, when asked to explain Jazz: “ If you have to ask, you’ll never know!”
Asia, BJ, great job guys. One of the best love songs ever and you described it with a lot of insight. Thank you for selecting this one. You guys are awesome. ;-) ;-) ;-)
Thank you guys. Asia was definately feeling it. I was but 13 or 14, living on the island of st. Croix usvi, when i first heard this song and i was mad in love with this cute little puerto rican girl. That was like a little piece of heaven.
You didn’t pause it for a long time. You felt it, like so many people do. This song might me sooo cheesy but it’s so touching, it’s full of pain and hope and you can feel that! And besides that it’s a perfectly build up pop song!!!

Facts
Yes I remember watching the video alot as kid I love it!!
Foreigner "I've been waiting for a girl like you" was my favorite song when I was young. IT'S SOOO GOOD. ❤️ (original or studio version is best)
The whole Foreigner 4 album was the best in those days. Many couples explored the mysteries of life with that playing in the background.
Yes It was a really good song very very popular in the skating rink when it was couples skate

Certain songs I can't watch reactions to unless they're watching the music video. This is one of them. It's too disappointing, the video is beautiful.
I second that!

The band come to our home town theater 1500 people holding hands singing with the band sounded the same ! Great time and band !!

My first concert when I was 16. Foreigner and Loverboy
This is one of the first songs my husband and I ever danced to. 38 years later, we know what love is!!😊❤
This was the obligatory love song/power ballad required on every classic rock album.
some songs just face the test of time and do not age they ring true for so many people which is why they are still here with us.
All of these songs you do remind me of the days when I was listening to them for the first time...very reminiscent 🤗😃
Una de las mejores música y épocas pasadas
That chorus is the type to make you pull out a lighter and wave it side to side in the air.
Love the way you both got into it,its so beautiful how u reacted to eat, now shut up lol and kept it going
This is one of those songs that you really NEED to watch the Official video. If you do, you'll be glad you did!💙☮
