The first return of the match should either be right at the net man or a chip over his head.. Move in, take the ball EARLY (well inside the baseline) and chip the ball over the net man's backhand side. it's really an easy shot if you practice it. Your partner should be back with you, just inside the baseline. If you hit a decent lob, both of you should move in quickly to just inside the service line, and take control of the net. If your lob is a little short, don't move in. You're still in a good defensive position. Let the net man know early that you are not afraid to nail him. Putting the ball away from the net with two quick players at the baseline is not that easy. He also may save you if you if you hit the ball long. If he volleys where either of you can reach it, you should be able to come in behind your next shot...at the server's feet, wherever they are. Doing this early takes the starch out of the net man's enthusiasm for poaching. And he may move back a step or two, leaving a bigger angle for your cross-court return. If he doesn't move back, keep lobbing as long as it works....

Lob over the net player on his back hand is a real tough shot for them to make a winner off if the get a racket on it , I use it all the time in doubles

Thanks for the tip, I have hard time against tall aggressive poachers with log reach.

First return possible gets ripped right at the net guy. Helps keep them put.

A frequent SP opponent stands really close to the net. He is sort of tall and has a great OH, so lobbing is dangerous. I have teed off and hit it right at him but he can hit a soft handed drop volley. Any advice? I am an ocelot person.

What up! I worked with her on some dubs lessons (the Bryans and Gigi Fernandez too). I'll try to post a few of them in the next few days.
