"By the summer of next year maybe this will all have been a distant memory from us." Well, Paul, speaking from November of next year, have I got news for you
You know what, I don't know if I'd agree with Joan on everything, but she's intelligent and articulate and I'd happily listen to and discuss anything she'd like to bring up. Also a bit of acerbic wit as well, which never goes amiss. A credit to the show for having her on.
There was a certain seriousness that Paul spoke with in this episode that mede me like him. He's usually kind of a dick, though he's had his funny moments for sure. He made a serious point about Boris being like Trump and delivered it in a way that was just really good. Well done to him. I really liked it.
Trump and his enablers were awful and I'm glad to see them go (sadly they won't be going to jail but the bastards never do). Still, I don't have much faith in Biden either - he's got a lot of baggage dragging behind him and seems more than happy to return to the Status Quo of neoliberal politics which is a big part of how we got old Bankrupt Donny. Hopefully he'll prove me wrong, but I wouldn't place a wager on it. Have to see what happens in Georgia because without the Senate it's all moot anyhow. Keep your fingers crossed and your towel handy, fellow citizen!
@@DennisMoore664That’s fair. But these people just attack him as old. They don’t look past five minute sound bites. It’s not a policy critique, they never refer to his policy or legislative agenda. The 2021 infrastructure act has been immense.
@@Kate-lk6tw Providing a current take on a three-year old comment - good grief! You should have asked if I still feel the way today that I did back then because I don't. Joe Biden and his administration got an amazing amount of good accomplished these past three years - more that I ever thought he would back then. And I'm deeply impressed that he stepped aside to let VP Harris step up and take the led in the fight to save the US from Trump, his enablers, and the nightmare policy document that is Project 2025.
Can’t you just see David Mitchell as ‘First Husband’, walking behind , grumbling about everything! Victoria is far too smart to ever want to be PM of the UK - sadly. Imagine what it would be like having someone who knew what they were doing leading a country!
Okay.....but at least he isn’t Trump. I hear the Brits have got one of our old cast off’s ( and welcome to him) who makes Dominic Cummings look like the most relaxed laissez-faire person , advising the govt on refugee policy.

The program focused on The Crown. Savile was a mate of Chuck, and they only get a look in when it relates directly to the actual Crown. So, Diana is in (not that she was his mate except briefly literally) and Savile/Laurence van der Post is out. Boo hoo.
So, if you’re going to pursue people who shamelessly manipulated Diana, Princess of Wales, you’ve got a long damned list before you get to Bashir and the BBC. How about starting chronologically. We could revisit the correspondence of Ruth Lady Fermoy and her public utterance of behalf of her son in law, in the divorce proceedings of Johnnie Spencer and Frances. Or her treatment of a newly engaged Diana, as Lady Fermoy herself discussed it in her correspondence. How about everyone in that family who was just resentful and jealous as the affection and respect for Diana saw new levels and changed the public perception of the BRF forever. And how about the guy who would be Defender of a faith that absolutely bans adultery, divorce, and remarriage while the spouse lives? It’s extraordinary that The Crown continually cops it from a bunch of luvvies who hold their own constitutional monarch to a much lower standard than anywhere else, when their own spin is vastly more dishonest and unreliable, Trying desperately to discredit the Panorama interview, because it reflected so very poorly on the monarchy and the heir, without a single unevidenced claim. Everything Diana said bore out. Any thinking person can see what you’re doing and it is an integrity free zone.
Why do these people so hate Corbyn? A funded NHS, energy and food price action, climate policy, muscle on river polluters, and no sending baby killing devices to terrorists. I understand England is a nation of rigid immovable associations, but to hate a person who has never veered from their principled positions in decades and who is for the many not the few is bizarre. Unless you’re the few. England is the oddest island on earth. I spent three years there, albeit not in London, and when i got back to Oz, it took me months to realise how it had affected me. Optimism dies there.
