      @@CrackaSlapYa I've been loving both rap and EDM through my Arya Stealths. I think its a coupling issue where the headphone isn't applying as much clamp force on your head as it can to get an ideal seal. When its properly seated on my head with a firm and tight clamp, everything becomes insanely detailed, spaced out and positionally accurate with a sense of physicality I don't get from most other headphones. The bass especially carries an immense weight to it, to my ears anyway.

      And that's exactly why I now kinda started with my end-game headphones. Went through r70x and edition xs and HD650. If the Edition XS hadn't been so insanely uncomfortable (I have a small head and the headband on the smallest setting were still way to big) and the r70x hurt my left ear, I'd not tried the Arya. Ananda I didn't like at all. The HD650 is great and comfortable, but the imaging and soundstage of the Arya sold me and were definitely worth the higher price. I probably wouldn't buy more expensive headphone. The only thing I might change are the ear pads, they are quite hard and pressing on my jaw a bit. But that's it.

    @d00d48 2 года назад +5

    Just noticed this video today. I got the Arya Stealths a couple weeks ago after receiving an email sale notification and feel validated by DMS's review. :D
    My immediate reaction upon putting them on, as I bought them based solely based on reputation and strength of reviews for the previous iterations, was that they're absolutely worth the money. For context, I listen to a lot of EDM (all sorts), various forms of rock (prog, alt, classic), and some folk and classical. Other headphones I own include the Focal Elex, Sony MDR-Z7M2, Sony MDR-CD1700, HIFIman Sundara, Sennheiser HD560S, HD58x, three iterations of the Fostex TR50p Mk3 (stock, Dekoni Blue, and Modhouse balanced), Meze 99 Noirs, and a few others, all distributed throughout the house and office and home office and connected to various amps. And as a matter of preference, I tend to prefer fun to analytical headphones as I listen to enjoy rather than to create, produce, or review music. FWIW, the only headphones I've ever owned that I really disliked and sold are the Beyerdynamic DT-990 Pros (80 Ohm version) - the pronounced V-shaped response just irritated me to no end. I didn't even want to keep them as any sort of reference. (EDIT - July 5, 2022 - Got some DT990 600 ohm cans just over a week ago and I find I like them quite a lot more than the 80 ohm version. Impressions thus far: the bass isn't flabby nor the highs ice-pick bright - feels much more balanced than the 80 ohm version; wish I still had the 80 ohm cans for a direct comparison, but I am pretty confident in this read given how much I disliked the 80 ohm version)
    Anyway, the Arya's really impressed me right out of the box, and the last time I was so enthused with a set of transducers was when I got my Moondrop Blessing 2:Dusk IEMs last year. As the Arya has replaced my Sundaras at my primary listening location, the most obvious difference & improvement is the bass extension and the wider soundstage. Is the Arya worth 3 or 4 x the cost of the Sundara? That's a matter of personal preference, but for me the answer is a definite yes.

      Unfortunately not many games have good audio. A good headphone can really expose bad microphones and low quality background music. E.g. when I game on my Stax, they add more distraction than immersion. With that much money I'd first invest in a good display. But after that, cans like the HD800s or the Arya Stealth can for sure make a big difference with how much soundstage they provide. Try them if you have the budget.

      The A30/D30 Pro stack may have been the actual culprit along with not burning them in. There's a reason Arya owners take the time to play in/burn in their cans and pair them with Class A discrete amps - the treble smooths out after about ~75hrs and the Class A amps have better timbre and less annoyingly bright trebles. It's what I did and I'm glad I gave them time - they're revealing yet smooth at the same time.

    • @Ezees23

    i really like my aria stealths, on my first listen my immediate reaction was they are lifeless honestly, its so flat, it doesn't lend itself well to some genres where there needs to be a bit more body and soul to the music, reggae being the perfect example where its focus is on mid bass beats, the arya v3 does it but its very much not the focus and comes across a little too clinical. what is amazing though is you soon come to realize they are not banging out a bassline because - the music isn't banging out a bassline, its just lesser quality headphones would bloat the mid bass where the arya is far more focused, far faster and clean, when called for the bass hits pretty hard and fast but more crucially it extends very well so nothing gets lost or does not come through strong enough, the first time i listened to ''lil john get low'' i realized how punchy they can be when the question is asked. everything else performs as you would expect, flat mids with a hint of brightness in the upper mids and a treble that's quite bright but not painfully so, its basically ''just right''. i game a lot with the headset aswell and use a chord mojo 2 and find it does an excellent job with imaging and soundstage, both of which become even more apparent when the focus is on sounds like distant gunfire, you can pick out direction and distance really well. my only downside would be they don't respond that well to EQ, boosting the low end at all can lead to a loss of control and some distortion at high volume (really high though), there's not much headroom i find between sounding absolutely amazing and then pushing it a bit too far quickly realizing i should knock it back a few clicks, single driver woes i guess, not that experienced with larger headphones in general but multi driver IEM's can naturally handle complexity very loudly a bit better as might be expected.
    my only other comparisons would be DT1990 pro, a handful of ''gaming headsets'' and plenty of IEM's, 64 U12T, sony ier m9, just to name a few in recent months.

    • @Ezees23
      @Ezees23 2 года назад +2

      As far as EQ goes, that isn't the Arya's fault at all - they take EQ like a champ. That "falling apart" is more of an expression of the amp in your chain - when it begins to run out of power. When you boost the bass it requires much more power (current actually) from the amp and when that current isn't able to be produced, the amp produces more distortion and loses control of the driver - making it "fall apart". Put them on a substantially more powerful amp and pump up the bass all you want - they will only get more bass and more controlled (I did this with my bypassed Emotiva A-100 (~12W @ 32 ohms) - my jaw literally dropped and I still refer back to that sense of supreme "effortlessness").

    So I finally got a source where I can listen to planar headphones--that being the awesome Cayin N8ii Tube DAP. That said, I pulled out my Hifiman X v2's and experienced for the first time when a planar could really do (previous source with an LG V phone which could not sufficiently drive planar). I heard this is quite an improvement on even those but is it true it only comes with a 6.5" cable...nothing in the box for 3.5 or balanced? Did you use the stock cable since you were hooking it into a desktop setup?
    I also have the coveted Final Audio Sonorous X with some kind of silver litz balanced cable that came with it...as well as Pioneer's SE-Monitor5 closed backs... both of which I could sell at a premium. I'm sure the Arya would sound great with the different mode options on that DAP.

    This is why the Sennheiser headphones and Hifiman Planars are so popular: They are some of the most balanced and well tuned Headphones on the market in their respective price categories.
    Tune your headphones to match the IEF Neutrality Target (crinacles Target) or the Harman Target without the awful bass shelf and literally nobody will complain about your tuning ever again.

I'd consider the Arya Stealth a baby HEKse. Many say the HEKse is a baby Susvara. HEKse is great and as far as I'm going up the Hifiman family tree. It's a detail monster and very easy to drive. But I 100% recommend the Arya Stealth for those who want the benchmark HP under $2000 and a legit taste of that high end Hifiman Planar sound. Pretty much good with all music genre's and a solid all rounder HP. Very comfortable for all day listening... and the Arya Stealth pairs well with most audio gear including a Hybrid Tube amp like the LYR 3

    • @JTB--
      @JTB-- 2 года назад +2

      @@ClintAvila I feel your pain. I struggled for a while before finally pulling the trigger. I went back and forth on whether to do it until i finally said F' it and went for it. When talking about the HEKse and Susvara the key word is "Detail". The only way for me to explain my decision to keep the HEKse was doing an A/B test with other headphones. I did A/B tests with the HD 800s and Verite Closed against the Arya Stealth and all 3 were basically holding their own and sounding good. When I got the HEKse and did the A/B test I immediately heard the difference in better detail and the jump in performance. It was drastic enough of an improvement that it made my HD 800s sound pretty average. I knew I'd probably never be touching the HD 800s again so I sold it. This can be a vicious cycle of always wanting to move up to the next tier of HP's and audio gear. I almost wish I never got bit by this headphone hobby bug because it's crazy expensive. I'd say for most the Arya Stealth is fine. Benchmark HP under $2k. But there is definitely a jump in performance to the HEKse to my ears. I'd almost argue the HEKse is a better/smarter buy than the Susvara because it's already doing much of what the Susvara can do and it's easy to drive. As far as Bass goes on the HEKse... it's similar to the Arya Stealth where if a song calls for it... it's going to deliver it nicely. I like how they do Bass a lot. These aren't Bass head/Bass cannon HP's, but they do give some slam and impact when the song calls for it. For instance Queen's Another One Bites the Dust bass line will thump. And just so you know Hifiman said I had 7 days to return the HEKse if for some reason I didn't like them. So you do have a safety net if you go for it

    I found a better headphone... It is called the Hifiman HE1000 V2. I originally bought the Arya Stealth because of all the hype but it really wasn't for me, sibilance was an issue (with both ifi Signature and EF400) and it ultimately sounded a bit too sterile/analytical to my taste. The HE1000 V2 fixes every complaint I had with the Arya Stealth, just a more warm enjoyable listen that makes every single recording sound pleasing regardless of the genre, with better resolution (but presented in a more relaxed manner) much better imaging and better soundstage, with such a good tuning and beautiful tone for the vocals, vocals just sound great on it.
    So yes in my opinion for $700 extra I would recommend the HE1000 V2 instead of Arya Stealth.
