Really the whole story of the transition from Bruno to Testa to Scarfo and the involvement of the Genovese in Philly to move it from being aligned with the Gambino's is a really interesting part of mob history in the US.
I'm driving home from work and listening to this in the car over Bluetooth, I'm totally mesmerized by this story that Sammy is telling. I'm already home sitting in my car listening to every word this man is saying. The music kinda added to the tension of the story. I don't think I've ever been so interested in a story in all my life. The way Sammy told this story was so Cosa Nostra. Can you imagine the rapport Sammy must be having with this guy he's about to clip. The man was totally prepared to die and he was going out like a man. There is no way I could be that cool in that situation. I can't see how Sammy could take that story with him to his grave. That would completely tear me apart. I don't know how Sammy could kill that man.
The way you narrated this, I felt like I was there experiencing it all. When I read this story in your book I felt it, but not like today. You brought this story to life. Bravo.

No one tells a story like Sammy. He is a master. He doesn't just tell it, he relives it. He feels it. You can see the depth of those feelings in the moment. As a former Casting Director, I was trying to think of who I would cast in role. I couldn't think of anyone who would do a better job than Sammy himself. And I know a lot of great actors.
What a master storyteller. It’s like he puts you right there with him. You can picture it all and feel the intensity of each moment. Compelling, completely riveting and very very dark.
We are so fortunate to be alive right now when someone like Sammy makes it through, and we get to hear first hand about it. No media bias, no spun off BS. This is an incredible story. I first read Sammy’s book back in the early 2000’s. I was just a young man, but was absorbing mob books at a rapid pace. Sammy’s book was always one of my absolute favorites and he’s an incredible storyteller.
At the end of the day, Sammy is human and I cannot imagine the emotions he felt and has felt if 80% or more of this episode had my palms sweating and eyes getting heavy. God bless, Sammy

You know what makes this story so intense is that violin playing in the background while Sammy is telling his story. Then it stops when Sammy is making a point. Then it starts again. I freaking love it.
Your right Gambinos should have backed him. Castelano didn't recognise the Chin was behind the whole thing to control the commission. And Scarfo ended up being a disaster for everyone.

I have so much respect for Sammy & how he treated Johnny. They both knew “it’s nothing personal...it’s just business.” The story of the shoes, I admit, I had tears in my eyes and had to pause the video to compose myself. Sammy’s style of story telling, really makes you feel like you are right there, seeing and feeling it all. The production quality is superb. No one tells a story like Sammy. He is a master. He doesn't just tell it, he relives it. He feels it. You can see the depth of those feelings in the moment. As a former Casting Director, I was trying to think of who I would cast in role. I couldn't think of anyone who would do a better job than Sammy himself. And I know a lot of great actors.

JOHNNY KEYS MAKES 2 REQUESTS. #1 HE WANTS A MADE GUY PULLING THE TRIGGER-#2 HE WANTS TO TAKE HIS SHOES OFF. IT WAS A GOOD SCENE. NOW HEARING THIS STORY MAKES THE SCENE MUCH BETTER

NOBODY KNOWS ABOUT -B. A STORY THAT'S VERY IMPORTANT AND FAMOUS. -C. HE TELLS 2 SHORT STORYS- 1 WE KNOW OFF 1 WE DONT. THEN HAVE THE MOVIE END

This is an incredible story. I first read Sammy’s book back in the early 2000’s. I was just a young man, but was absorbing mob books at a rapid pace. Sammy’s book was always one of my absolute favorites and he’s an incredible storyteller.
