Good job Jarrod, personally I have the R5-3500u/1080p IPS Touch/8GB RAM/256GB SSD NVMe version, which I put a 1TB NVMe and a 16GB stick (top 20GB RAM) and oh boy, this puppy is gorgeous, for less than $420 (June price when I brought it directly from Lenovo and $530 with improvements) is a beast (BTW, I don't know if Lenovo changed this between versions but mine is aluminum in the top lid).

You could find a lenovo laptop with Ryzen 5 and Vega 11 APU that is about the same price but much better at being a light gaming machine. It'll even outperform a comparable laptop with an i5 with mx250 graphic card.
Hell I think it would be a good video for you Jarrod. Try to compare a similarly specced laptop but one with ryzen+vega 11 and the other with i5+MX250
It's vega 10 i guess 🤔 vega 11 is in desktop apus
It wont outperform i5 and mx150 as its unfortunately thermally and power constrained and AMD in their infinite wisdom has "no plans" to support APU's and mobile chips in Ryzen master. So no undervolt or overclocking avaliable. Plus mx250 use much faster GDDR5 ram. Therefore APU is no match to even weakest nvidia card.
Still its a way better than nothing. At least CS:GO should not be a problem.

Bought one four years ago. It’s fine for my basic needs at 8 GB Ram and 256 storage. After 3.5 years keyboard went downhill until multiple keys stopped working. I used the onscreen keyboard as a workaround until I saw basically the same laptop on sale for 300+ tax at best buy. Someone experienced could have replaced the keyboard, but watching the videos it looked like the job was a little more involved than some prior laptop work I’ve undertaken. Other than the keyboard the first Lenovo still works well so I went with what I know for a reasonable price.
Bro it's a ribbon cable easy pz fix.. I like the touch screen level cope though. It's an easy fix though. But you must have spilled something on it.

Plus I've been happy with lenovo and my one acer crapped out on me (even though it was the hdd). I actually like the looks of the acer better but I'm hoping I made the right choice

Got this when new, ryzen 3 , been using it ever since as my downstairs computer, upgraded, now got 2 tb harddrive, 500gb ssd and 20gb ram and runs W11 it has launch box, and epic, runs fortnite at low specs at 30fps plays almost everything !

In my unit the lid is a bit loose so when I hold it upside down the lid opens up a bit.

I have the option between 2 laptops, a medion p erazer with a 1050ti 4gb for 599, or acer predator with almost the same configuration and a 1060 6gb video card for 799.
Are those 200 euros enough to justify the upgrade?

Yeah I'd go for 1080p. Depends, if you're using it for gaming the 1060 is a fair step up over the 1060, but that's 33% more money, so depends if you're getting a similar boost in performance and if you want to pay the extra.

@@JarrodsTech Bhai. If you could shed some light on it as you get so many laptops as test models, then we ll be really grateful. I personally have Intel 760p SSD. I did some benchmark on both modes. Surprisingly in AHCI mode my SSD performed better. In RST mode I was getting almost half speed in benchmarks. I used crystaldiskmark
Soldered RAM shouldn't exist in any laptop. Lenovo loves to solder 4GB.

Hmm yeah not sure on that.
GTA 5 manages to run on normal graphics, kinda laggy and spikey, but it runs normal. its playable. I did a couple races and got 3rd and 6th. GTA is a good experience. Just keep the graphics and everything else to normal or low if you have that option and put the priority to high.
You should get the Ryzen 5 3500U variant with FHD display! That's way below $500 ($410-$430) now for Black Friday!

I found the Costco Lenovo S340 i3 81WW003US 8gb and 256 SSD would only charge to 95% and in a hour of usage with battery set at powersaver and screen set at 80% it went down to 64%. Took it back

Got ryzen version for 350. I personally recommend it to simple use. I am selling mine for a gaming laptop for college. It's a struggle for me due cpu stuff when programming and rendering

I was in the same boat, had a laptop with i5 7300H 4c/4t and R7 2600U 4c/8t, but found neither fast enough.
I would recommend the i7 8750H or better!

Jarrod.. I also had the S340 for a couple of month until I sent it back.. To me the keyboard was terrible as well as the trackpad.. it felt stiffy (trackpad) and sluggish (keyboard) ..palm rest felt super cheap.. yes it is a cheap laptop but I am wondering if other Ideapad series are better for instance ideapad 5? or is the internal what makes the difference?

Under 800$ i was only able to find one laptop which has 120hz refresh rate which is Asus TUF fx505dt

For League of legends, CoD BO2, Overwatch or Team Fortress maybe it’s okay, but those aren’t AAA games, if you want to run them you will have to tweak them like a LOT

Yeah, if you get a Lenovo, get a ThinkPad. The older ones still stand up pretty well. You can upgrade a T440p to run about as fast as a T490. It just won't have as energy-efficient of a CPU and it may run a little warmer.

I don't get why people say £500 is cheap I remember when I was getting my A50 and people were saying that's cheap that cost me £300 I don't know y'all financial situation but £500 isn't cheap when I was younger (24 year old here) £100 was concerned expensive.
As a channel that reviews gaming laptops that tend to start at 700-800 USD entry level, this is contextually considered to be on the cheaper side to my regular content

I found one problem that while scanning my system with inbuilt antivirus CPU is showing 100% please comment on this..as I contact to service center but they can't solved my problem and I'm little worried..so please let me where could be fault hardware or software?
I assume from time to time the software needs to use the resources to scan. Personally I just uninstall anti-virus as windows defender is good enough for most people in most cases these days

I know that Dell is higher in configurations but I saw many reviews that G5 got some issues like low screen contrast and high temperature of CPU/GPU and speakers are below average. No problem about the difference in price for me yet I need to know which one will give me better experience when using, so which one should I choose.
I've never tested any HP omen stuff as they ignore me so it's hard for me to say. It's worth considering that the G5 runs hot, and the 2070 is Max-Q. Without testing the HP, and not liking how hot the G5 runs, I find it difficult to recommend either.

Depends what you're doing, I would imagine it would be ok for basic programs/school work yeah.
I get about 4 hours of battery life with this laptop which is a bit disappointing.
I might recommend the 14 inch over the 15. Keyboard is not centered which is bad for typing.
I think that the normal thinkpad keyboard and trackpad are way better than this.
I dislike the power connector. it will break eventually. It doesn't have a backlit keyboard.
It is good sitting on a desk but not good in bed. It has an ok screen but I'm sure 1080p is better. I got it at about 300 US dollars. It is very fast laptop and very slim to travel with. If you use it at a desk. it will be great.

Since, you will be watching lots of movies on this please opt for 1080p screen with IPS display. TN panel are not that great for watching movies and the viewing angles are bad as you saw. But if you are not worried about that at least for a 1080p screen. This seems to be a decent laptop with great battery life.

As an intel hd graphics user I can say that it will just handle casual games at acceptable frame rates, quality and resolution, any other AAA game even from 2016 it struggle to maintain a stable frame rate at the lowest settings and resolution, if you want to buy an Intel hd graphics laptop because of the price for gaming, it doesn’t worth it, instead buy a PC with a decent dedicated GPU
I don't think that's a great solution, someone looking to buy a laptop probably needs the portability. If you don't need to take it anywhere then a PC is a better option for the money and a laptop doesn't need to be considered.

Jarrod, I noticed on assassin's Creed oddesay the Helios 300 2019 runs cooler running Assassin's Creed oddesay than dauntless does even though oddesay is set to very high settings and sits around 60-70 average and dauntless runs around 110-130fps maxed out. I find this very weird because people apparently state that higher framerate will make it run hotter and limiting it to 60 will make it cooler. What's your say on this? I've hit 90 degrees on the CPU while playing dauntless and it got me worried even though its winter and laptop was sitting elevated on a cooling pad.
But running stress tests don't push the CPU nearly as much, still makes me wonder if my unit came with bad thermal compound or something?
It really depends on the game, different games hit different components harder, and then it also depends on the settings of the game and even where you are in the game, I don't really think it's worth comparing the temperatures between different games. 90c isn't the best, but realistically pretty common under heavy loads with modern Intel CPUs, I don't personally worry about it myself.
