I have this with the Ryzen 5 3500U - fairly good with 8 GB of RAM and 500GB storage on board. I'm a Linux user and worked through some headaches on Fedora, and LM XFCE windows compositor, but overall quite solid (currently running LM 19.3 Mate). Bought the system for around USD510~520, and I haven't found another Laptop that can match it at that price point.
What happens when you replace that RAM module (8GB instead of factory 4). Does it then run in dual channel 4GB + 4GB and after system uses those 8, in single channel remaining 4GB, or it just runs all 12GB in single channel? Also, how those configurations affect real life use, not gaming (is there any noticable difference, for example in compiling code, browsing web,...)?
If the motherboard has two memory slots than it will for sure run in dual channel if you put two sticks of 4GB, if the slots are 4, than sticks should be placed in slot 1 and 3 or 2 and 4
Would this laptop work with Elgato HD60S game capture device? This device looks like it fits the bill for me, but want to find out since I can't actually find any info about AMD Ryzen specs

Ok right just realize it has only one slot. So the soldered is 2400mhz i presume, does that mean i can't upgrade the remaining slot with a 2600mhz? What a bummer 🤦🏻♂️

got a s340 with i7-8565U 8g ram and 256gb ssd for around $540 (from... Walmart, my first Walmart purchase). It's fast and so far great but looks plasticky (the top lid is aluminum though) and 1366x768 screen resolution. For this price it's worth it. If the chassis adn the top part was aluminium I'd be really happy. The plastic will get sticky and the nice shine will wear out for sure but again, for this price... The touchpad is quite nice too..

Don't go for it, the display panel is shit, you have to always keep the display angle in a sweet spot to get the brightness and contrast right. The difference between the pictures edited in this screen and then transferring it to mobile or other devices look day and night. Every-time you tune the color settings in AMD control center, the settings reset after the laptop goes to sleep, so you have to set it again and that's annoying. (same thing happens for the Dolby setting (which you have to tweak to make the speakers audible)). If only the display was good enough this would be a really great budget laptop as it runs Photoshop fairly well with multiple layers,masks and plugins enabled. If only lenovo thought of adding a better display panel for a few extra bucks. Absolutely not recommended for content editing in any forms.

Well, the i5 over last generation Zen, but given that Ryzen 4000 laptops (based on Zen 2) are here and really very fast, I’d rather go for that!

If you want to see the difference, open new tab in chrome as much as your system can handle it then u will see what time the system got stuck

Ram can be upgraded upto 20gb.Only one 4gb slot is soldered.You can replace with other 4gb slot with a 8 gb or 16gb
