@@LowSpecLinuxLaptop LOL, you are probably right. Thought I don't know how that works when it's running live. Obviously any VOD I kept afterwards would be a nightmare and a half to go through, so I'd probably delete the VOD and upload anything from it on a case by case basis. Guess I'll find out! LOL
Page has become one of my top 50. Kanami supposed to have composed it as a wedding song and it has the bitter-sweet feel both melodically and lyrically, and is one of few songs actually make me emotional.😢
So glad you reacted to this song - not many reactors do. Kanami said she wrote this as a song to be played at a wedding. She didn't tell Miku that though, so the lyrics don't really reflect that. Saiki said it's her favorite song on the Conqueror album. And it's a favorite of MISA's too. This was played as the final song at the Christmas acoustic concert.
I re-listen to this song so often just because of Saiki's vocals. I love this ballady tone of hers which she fills with so much emotion. Just so beautiful.
People do not realize that this hard rocking, melt your face bands, has a softer side. You should check out "About Us" the official live video, and "Smile" the official live acoustic video. Both show their versatility and talent. Saiki's voice really shines on both those videos.
@P in D 2 Lol. I always Google "Mary Poppins" to make sure my spelling is correct😂 No, the acoustic version of this song has not been posted on YT (to the best of my knowledge). Only place I know is the Chinese site for the entire Christmas acoustic Okyu-ji. But I'm enjoying the acoustic version songs because I have the CD😉
@P in D 2 No, there isn't a single cut video for PAGE. When you find the video of the Christmas Okyu-ji at that notorious site, you must go to the last song to listen to the acoustic version of PAGE...why do I feel like such an idiot?🙄
It's a shame the live version isn't available, in the one I've seen Saiki's vocals are sublime ( I seem to say that a lot about Saiki), just as much as the studio version. This was the final song of the Christmas acoustic concert, it was the first time I had heard the song and it absolutely floored me, all five of the band singing the opening harmony. I'd be more than perfectly happy with an album entirely made up of songs like this, they excel at slow songs just as much as anything else, the musicianship is still fully on display and Saiki and Miku really shine vocally. Oh and Kanami's solo reminds me once again that I need more bluesy stuff from her, she doesn't do it often but you can tell she feels it. Love your reactions by the way
Great comments. The opening of this song when all 5 start harmonizing was my favorite moment of the acoustic concert. Agree about the solo. Very melodic and bluesy. Love it when Kanami taps in to her bluesy side.
Yep, just a speck of Duane Allman in this guitar solo, except for that she probably didn't use a glass medicine bottle (Coriciden D tablets) for her slide.
This was the 14th and final song of the Christmas Acoustic concert. When all 5 band members sang the "oh oh" part, a capella, at the beginning of the song it was haunting. You really should find the acoustic show.
Page is up there in my top Band-Maid tracks. There is an awesome live version on the Line Cube Shibuya DVD, and of course it was last track on the Christmas acoustic.
I remember the mixed reception Page got when Conqueror was released. But it still has all the elements of Band-Maid: the layers, beautiful harmonies, great songwriting -- it just unfolds on a slower tempo. The studio engineering didn't do it (or any of the songs on Conqueror) a whole lot of favors, but when you watch the live version at Shibuya or the live version at the Christmas concert, you get a different perspective (or at least I did).
I wasn't a huge fan of this at first, and I kind of wonder if it's being the first track on _Conqueror_ contributed to people saying that album meant that Band-Maid had sold out and gone soft (an idea which completely ignored the many rockers on the record and was soundly refuted by _Unseen World_ and the recent singles). It _is_ IMO reminiscent of an overblown tearjerker contemporary "country" song (e.g. "If I Die Young" by The Band Perry), but it's done better than 99% of those, especially the vocal arrangement. And then in the acoustic concert (which is probably what the suggesters were thinking of) it was the perfect transcendent closing song - this time with all five members singing and twilight descending behind them.
It certainly is the reason why I was close to immediately stopping my fist listen of the Conqueror album when I was discovering them a year ago. It was one of the first CD's that arrived and I gave that one the first spin because I didn't know most of the songs (with the exception of Rinne) back then. I really dislike the intro of Page and it is still very low if I would rank Band-Maid songs (together with some other Conqueror songs). It's mainly because I am not a huge fan of ballads in general and the intro of this one reminds me of what I dislike about the couple of radio songs I have heard over the last 20 years (I haven't listened to the radio for a long time). That being said, I wouldn't call it a bad song or that they sold out or anything like that. It's just that I discovered Band-Maid on Domination songs and Unseen World songs and a lot of the songs on Conqueror are far removed from that plus that I mainly listened to extreme metal for the last 10 years or so and metal in general for the last 20 years. The song did grow on me a bit, but I am still not a huge fan. I do agree that the acoustic version worked well in that concert. All the songs did even though I am not the biggest fan of a bunch of the originals they did. But yes, I agree with you that having Page as an opener of the Conqueror album colored my perception of the album. The 2 songs that bothered me the most on my first listen were Page and At the drop of a hat from what I remember. Just too many ballads in general for my personal taste even though there are some great songs on there (including the ballad Wonderland, which is fantastic). Also the production of the whole album, which I really disliked and I am still not a huge fan of how it sounds. I certainly appreciate it more than I did back then, but I would still put it low in my list of Band-Maid albums even though 2 of the songs on here are among my favourite Band-Maid songs (Rinne and Wonderland).
One of the great mid-tempo Band Maid songs. Perhaps my favorite mid-tempo song of theirs is “Mirage”, also from the Conquerer album and which they also played during the acoustic concert. You really should buy that acoustic cd when it’s available again (I’m assuming it’s not at the moment?).
Knowing a few words in Japanese but with out understanding the lyrics this sure get inspirational vibes from this song. _(What a great song as many others)_
Subscribed the minute I saw that somebody was finally doing this gorgeous song!! And YES this was the closer for the acoustic session!! I tell you, I don't mind admitting that the waterworks came out on more than one occasion listening to this. If you get their Line Cube Shibuya blueray there's a fantastic live version of this. I know a lot of people would want a rollicking closer at a concert, but they made Endless Story work as the emotional closer at Line Cube, and I could totally seeing this as a closer to a Band-Maid show.
I recently lost someone I loved / this is a special song for me. It is a testament to Band Maid's ability to create a special place for the listener to go to and engage their music..and in my case, to heal 🎴
This song has always been one of my favorites, and when they closed their online Christmas Acoustic Concert with it I just melted...... Miku is fabulous, her and Saiki work so well together. Never click on RUclips's CC button for Japanese translation, it's the worse and will confuse the hell out of you. I really can't understand why there's no video for this song.....can't remember if there was ever a video for it really.
I've definitely figured out over the years in general that music in other languages when translated to English, usually lose some of the meaning. I usually just try to get a general concept of what it's about and go from there. LOL
It's incredible... I don't understand any Japanese, English isn't my mother tongue, but a lot of Band Maid's songs move me to tears... I guess it's the music, their compositional mastery, their wonderful execution... add to that, the beauty of his vocal arrangements... It really is a mystery... an exquisite mystery... Thanx, Glass Moon!!

They closed out their Christmas day acoustic show with a stunning version of this song, the CD of that show is available on the band's website. Hopefully a DVD will be released too. Akane was playing an acoustic drum set, I forget what they're called but she was using sticks that are a bunch of smaller sticks bundled together that give the drums a softer sound
Where you comment that she sounds like she is using brushes she was actually using a drum trigger on a separate snare. In the Line Cube Shibuya you can see her switching back and forth from the electronic drum and other triggers to her acoustic set several times during the performance of this song. And personally I prefer the Acoustic and the Line cube Shibuya version of this song over the studio version. They are just more full sounding.
When i first heard PAGE, i felt like this is a new direction from Band-Maid, and some people at the beginning would not like it very much. And for me its refreshing to see the first song of the album would be a ballad song, which is not common for majority of a rock albums.
For the fact that Saiki, according to her own statement, prefers to sing the faster songs, to my ears she sounds just simply gorgeous and seductively good on the slower ones. She is a fantastic singer. But of course the fine instrumental is also part of the reason why 'Page' is an excellent song. :) _____________________ 「 _'Our rock never dies ever. It would be cool if Kamami were to channel a little more of Carlos Santana in her playing. You can hear it now and then
