You are very forgiving about the not- so-subtle differences between the repro and the original. The lip paint on the 1-5 dolls was much fuller and slightly overdrawn (and gorgeous in my opinion), and the hair continues to be a challenge for Mattel. The bangs are better but NOT right, and the color is nowhere near the original Titian. Glad they are trying to satisfy collectors, but Mattel has the archives and financial resources to make these Silkstones perfect!

Yes, it’s true. I guess I’m not expecting a carbon copy of the originals. But I definitely see what you’re saying about the differences.

Yes, I ordered her shortly after she appeared on the website, Im sure glad I did, I didnt think she would be sold out so quick, same goes for the black Francie, I sure didnt think she would disappear, be sold out. Its great that both did so well, Hopefully that will get Mattel to approve more of Bills repro designs

Great Review! She is stunning and as a vintage collector myself you are absolutely right about the materials used in the reproduction versus the original vintage pieces and it includes all parts of the process of creation from selection of material and construction. I am seriously thinking about this "Fiery" girl, I have a #4 as well and surely she would'n mind having a silkstone incarnation side by side. Thank you so much for an Honest and Pleasant Experience. PEACE🙏

Can't comment on the reproduction but in so many cases, unlike the other Barbie Mattel fashions of the time, After Five was often a little ill fitting with a wider waist than was necessary. For some reason the AF dresses were not uniformly sewn. But close enough...

I really like her. But, there are things that throw me off a little bit.
Mine had a defect on the nose, a « resin » bubble on her upper lip and some flecks of red paint on her cheek. They seem to do the backwards ponytail curl with those, most likely to fit better in the box, but it really disrupts the final product in my opinion. The promo pics are always super flawless while the final hairstyle leaves something to be desired.
The quality inspections are really done hastily it seems if done at all.
They seem to try to cheapen out on the outfits and accessories, since I’ve noticed in the latest reproductions some plastic snaps on the clothes instead of metal ones (it’s cheaper most likely)
And the cheap plastic earrings really show in my opinion where the repro line is heading. There will be fewer releases and more and more stinginess in the quality of accessories and quantity of them.
Im hoping for a midge silkstone repro in 2023 since it will be Midge’s 60th anniversary!
But on a positive note awesome video as always !!

I though about it, but in person it’s not THAT visible. I found out about those issues when I looked at her under magnification.
And since I’m in Canada it does take a long time to receive a new doll. So I chose to keep her, but I will have her hair restyled and makeup defects fixed by an artist based in California
