    I'm super intrigued by this and so happy I found your videos. I recently found out about bass shakers and now want to try them for a little home theater setup with my office chair. I think what you built here in this video would work perfectly, as I have a very similar chair. Setting these things up seem a little nerve-wracking, would you ever consider making a similar setup and sending them out if all expenses were paid for? Thanks in advance.

    I've just done this in a left and right configuration for DCS. I use nVidia for my sound source and the amp is plugged into my monitor and not an additional soundcard.
    The only other thing I did differently was I used a 12v 5amp power supply. And try to keep the volume on about 80% on my 20w+20w amp miniamp. Being a complete novice, my thinking is that I can now get the full 30W maximum rating out of the transducers for short periods.
    Thank you for the video.

    Great video, made me realise I needed this setup inside my zip-backed wheeled racing-style chair! Obtained 2 pucks from Soundimports, mounted them on a board & due to the recess in the chair, orientated them left/right. Added a short lead with connectors under the chair, so it can be untethered easily.
    I seemed to have slightly better results turning the board over, so the 'top' of the pucks sink into the back cushion a little. Gearchanges give a satisfying thud in the back.
    Left/right-specfic effects are harder to tell where they are originating, probably because the rumble is being spread too efficiently through the entire board across the back of the chair.
    At some point I'll pull it out & cut the boad into separate left/right sections, but it was a pain to get the chair zip closed again - so that can wait a bit.
    Although I'm wondering if I also need them under the seat too...😀

    Wow thank you very much for the detailed tutorial this will come in handy.. would you mind helping me with something, as this is all very new to me,I have just bought a simple setup to use on my PS5 and play seat challenge x, basically I bought 3 of the mini Dayton TT25 8ohm transducers and the Nobsound mini Bluetooth power amplifier with built in sound card which is 2channel and 50w and 4-8ohm.
    My plan was to have one of the transducers (8ohm) under my pedals, then two transducers a on my seat, but running in parallel which I think then halves the ohms so each transducer would be 4ohm, is this safe to do I don’t want to blow out or destroy anything, any help you can give would be greatly appreciated..👍

    • @SimRacingCorner
      @SimRacingCorner  3 года назад +2

      The difference in power output is significant, so it depends on usage. The Daytons work well here as they are close to my back. But they would not work attached to other parts of the stiff frame of the sim rig, the Daytons are not strong enough to pass vibrations though, but the budget Body shakers would be just fine.

      Unfortunately, I don't have time to make video on that anytime soon. My bass shaker kit isn't set up right now, and I'm kind of busy on other projects. I'll think about this for a future one. All I can say right now, is the bass shaker will act like a speaker, and it will pass through every sound, including the music. If you have a proper amp, you can adjust the frequency going through, and focus the vibrations on the bassy sounds and that will help isolate the car elements. The loudest sounds from the game will produce the most vibrations. But ultimately, with all the sounds going through, everything is mashed together when running straight from audio.

    • @SimRacingCorner
      @SimRacingCorner  4 года назад +2

      I've been using this cheap amp for a few weeks and I haven't had any issues with this setup. As long as the combination of the bass shaker model and the power supply is within the tolerance of the amp then it should be okay, but possibly the quality of these units off the production line could vary due to their low price. I wouldn't use this amp for a higher wattage bass shaker, it certainly wouldn't be good enough.

    • @SimRacingCorner

      If you can split the audio from the console to two sound outputs, then yes it will work. You can test the theory without bass shakers by simply trying to get two working sound outputs running using another set of speakers, headphones etc. You will need to do your own research on that, it's not something I plan to try myself.

    I have two questions:
    1 - my idea is to place the two Dayton pucks, not vertically at the backrest, but horizontally right below my bum's cushion, and therefore obtain a stereo effect ( Left / right)? Is it feasible with that very same equipment, this stereo effect?
    2 - in compariosn with your previous setup (100w+100w amp with larger transducers) would you still think this smaller setup will transmit a vivid experience for a first-time user, such as in my case?

      Bass shakers are effectively speakers. So you need the same hardware configuration shown and then you need a audio splitter of some description from your PS5 to send the audio through to the amp connected to the bass shakers.

I even took apart a cheap Xrocker chair and added the vibration motors into my playseat challenge! I've now got a dedicated sim room so can now get a bit more serious. I want to run multiple shakers ( FL - FR - RL - RR and under or on the seat) Now when I spec'd my PC last year it was being run in my living room using HDMI audio so didn't spec a 5.1 sound card. Will I be able to run multiple small usb sound cards to power the amps and shakers? I haven't seen this mentioned in any of your videos yet and you seem to have multiple transducers. Are they all running from those small USB ones?
