What's Michael Schumachers best performance in your opinion?

Imola 2003. He knew his mum had past away, personally I would have gone to pieces with grief. He got his sh*t together and drove the wheels off, then stood on the podium and cried his lamps out for the world to see. One of the most touching events I'd ever seen in f1 when Kimi and Ruben greeted him as he sat in the car and I started crying.

Spain 1996 for his utmost dominance in a piece of thrash.
Then Belgium 1995, probably the race which summed him up the best.
In terms of overtakes I say Monza 1998, Montreal 2011 (vs Massa and Kobayashi, if I remember correctly) and Imola 2005 (vs Button)

To many to name just one. Spain 94 when he Finisher second Stuck in 5th gear, Belgien 95, Belgien 96, Spa 96 when he won in a rubbish car and Spain of course. Monaco 1997, Spa 97, Japan 97, Argentina 98, Hungary and Kanada 98, Imola 99, Malaysia 99, Japan 2000, Monza 2000, Malaysia 2001, 2003 Imola, Imola 2006 - as i said just too many. And thats just the ones i can name spontanously without thinking.

He broke many rules, he was super agressive, sometimes dangerous. But he was one of the greatest ever to drive a F1 car. He won many races with inferior cars and he dominated when he had the best machine. But I remember reading something about some interview he gave, he said that Hakkinen was the only one he ever feared. That says a lot.

    • @kevinprengemann7456

I really doubt he said ''feared'', it is more likely that he meant ''respected most''. I don't think that Schumacher feared anyone.

He was the only driver who could keep up with the driver god Senna, even if the 1994 season had a bad aftertaste. When Senna was gone, Schumacher was in his own league, a great shame for racing that Senna would tragically be in Imola lost life...

His was so strong on rain conditions that they decided during the season 2001 to bring back traction control and automatic Gear box.
He was also really strong to federate a team around him and to protect it. He even became close with Jock Clear (Villeneuve friend and engeener) who hated him and didn't want to work with him at first (beyond the grid with Jock Clear)
If he didn't broke his legs in 99 and if they didn't change the tyre regulation in 2005 he would have probably won 2 more titles.

In a world where even best drivers like Senna were jumping ships to go and sit in a winning car, Schumacher left WDC winning Benetton to build legacy for Ferrari. Alonso tried that and failed. Schumacher is the benchmark for drivers in building and winning as a team. Up until he arrived, being a great driver was all about driving a winning car built by some excellent teams. He was the Premier that introduced fitness to F1 and always remained the Beacon of fitness in the sport. He also worked tirelessly to improve the safety the sport. His greatness goes beyond the track and none comes close to those achievements.

Hill sr, Moss, Jackie Stewart etc etc. Than the extremely fast in the likes of Prost, Rosberg, Lauda and also many many more names. And than there is another category. The scary fast like Senna, Hamilton and this dude, the great Michael Schumacher. Even Senna had to watch his mirror when Michael was approaching in his Benetton. Dude was a machine. Pfffff man. Yep. Niki Lauda:
"IN MY DAY WE DID ALL THE THINGS THAT MICHAEL HAS DONE, EVERY DRIVER WOULD DO IT"

Former world champion Niki Lauda enjoyed many a joust with the drivers of his day, but while criticising Schumacher his voice takes on a sympathetic edge.
Considering the possibility of more Schumacher 'issues' in the intensity of today's race, he said: "Okay, I do not understand why a guy who makes split-second decisions in the best racing car in the world is not so straightforward when things are going wrong.
"The only thing I would criticise him for is that he does not admit to mistakes. If I made a mess of things I accepted it and moved on. In my day we did all the things that Michael has done … Every driver would do it. The only difference was that we were not caught on television. We underestimate the coverage these days."

@@jonahehlers1673 The opening line says "Michael Schumacher wasn't just F1's most successful driver. He rewrote the rulebook on what was possible in a race car." I guess if this video pretends that Lewis Hamilton doesn't exist then it could be correct. That's what I am talking about. Look at the statistics otherwise it's just opinion.
