This brings back good memories. We used to love Geoff Leisk . living up in Queensland I’d religiously buy Australian Dirt Bike magazine and talk about motocross on the way to school bus.

Thanks for the upload! I remember that race, HRC was dominant but Thorpe was a bit off here. The tracks were brutal like Valkenswaard or Lommel... Astonishing how good works suspension was back then.

On that track, these new 450's wouldn't cut lap times like the top 5 riders in this race. Blaze on !

I doubt that. Did you try a recent 450? Those bikes are scary and the top riders today are squeezing them...

Why they got rid of this class is beyond me. These guys were incredible.

Les pilotes d'aujourd'hui ne pourrai pas piloter ces monstre 2tp, immense brutalité,💪 comparé aux 4 tp d aujourd'hui ❗

A little known fact is that Jeff Leisk in his first season here ( 1989 ) at attempting to win the European 500 Motocross GP Championship is actually riding a production Honda CR500 whilst nearly everyone else is riding hand made factory " Works " bikes ! Honda was not happy that he had left the USA racing scene against their wishes to race the European Championship and basically cut most or maybe all of his funding ( + No Works Bike ) and if I remember rightly he was pretty much paying his own way through the 1989 season in Europe !

At :19, the earth's rotation was slowed slightly.

The lap looks faster than todays 450 4t.

As a fan/spectator it is MUCH more entertaining and spectacular but I ensure lap times today are faster.

A long-shot, but what the heck. Was there a Grand Prix track somewhere in Europe with an outrageously long up-hill back in the 70's or 80's ?
    Possibly Austria ?

I know that Payerne in Switzerland was quite hilly

I said Payerne in Switzerland was quite hilly, but the Grand Prix track you're after is Sittendorf, Austria. That track had a Long!! Up hill😀
