I remember going to see this film as a 9-year-old with my mum on a Friday afternoon after school. I went in expecting nothing out of the ordinary, yet as I watched it, I realised this was unlike any film I'd seen in the cinema before (up until that point). Furthermore, even as a kid, I could tell this wasn't exactly a 'children's film' considering the amount of guns, violence, gritty imagery, mild swears, murder, etc. This film is one of the most overlooked films of the 2010s, one of the most distinct animated films ever created, and the closest thing we're going to get to a Tarantino film for younger audiences.
Yep, same. I watched the movie when it was released, and I remember that I couldn't understand it at all. I was too young, but now I see it and love every inch of it.
Okay, credit where its's due: this opening is incredibly awesome. It nails the vibe that all westerns try to capture, all with just a guitar solo, a few bars from a mariachi band, and a touch of atmospheric magic here and there. Great opening to a great movie.
I love how the owl on the right is terrified by it lol. The interactions of those owls with the characters and the world is one of my favourite parts about the film.
Oscars are no longer important in the hollywood industry. Nowadays critics get paid to glorify any horrible movie out there that doesn't even deserve such attention.
@@ToxicTurquoise454 I'm sure he's shocked by the fact that Nickelodeon would distribute and work on a more PG-13 animated film rather then a G rated film. Also "Twat" is a bit mean don't you think?
I think the reason this movie is so good is because it’s got everything you need in a good western. Romance, action, murder, clichés that are appreciated and not overused. It doesn’t try to be anything it’s not, it’s a western and it absolutely follows every item that should be in a western to a T.
My mom and my grandmother (when she was still alive) took me to the movies to see this when I was nine, and it's one of my favorite Nickelodeon movies! I love the idea of desert animals as characters in a Western film as well as it having many references to other classic Western films, with Johnny Depp (who I actually knew from Pirates of the Caribbean and a lot of Tim Burton movies) portraying the main character! It's really cool, but I wish Rango had a sequel!
Still true as far as I can tell though How to Train your Dragon is pretty good too. All the Dollars movies are great because of Morricone, but of all of them For a Few Dollars More sets the mood the best.
I remember watching this movie at Regal and I remember how fantastic this was of a masterpiece and I remember walking out saying I LOVE IT can't wait until it comes out on bluray
I didn't watch rango for a long time because I much prefer colorful cute aesthetics in movies. Just after watching the opening I was like "oh, okay, I'm in good hands"
I remember one time in Highschool when Summer Break was gonna take place, this movie was about to play in a classroom. Me: Meh! I don't think I would like to watch that. Years later I watched the movie and I regret being myself back then.
So sit back, relax, and enjoy your own comfortable low-calorie popcorn and important assorted confections if we don't need to tell you the strange and bewildering tale of a hero who has yet to enter his own story.
It is a shame for a good quality movie that stands up strong in 2021 to go unlisted on Netflix, october 28 2021 is the day it gets unlisted. Hans really killed it with the music
Big Rango vibes from Puss In Boots 2: The Last Wish (2022) Final Battle 1, Final Battle 2 and Final Battle 3 in which Jack Horner is defeated with his thumb down, sinking down inside the wishing star like Terminator 2: Judgement Day (1991) movie scenes. 😏

You are absolutely right, as a Mexican youtuber film critic said, animation is not a genre, if not, a film format.

I’m honestly shocked Hans Zimmer didn’t get nominated for an Oscar with his music here. The music here and the entire movie kicks fucking ass!!!
