Look for the behind the scene video of Paperman. This was an experimental blend of 2D and 3D. I'm no expert but since Paperman came along you have seen more 2D on 3D. First example that comes to mind is Maui animated tattoo's in Moana. So even though the style is not back I'm sure some elements are used even up to this day.

This is physically impossible because, for the record, this short film cost almost as much as a feature film that would be shown on the big screen. If a short film in this style literally cost as much as a big-budget theatrical release, then clearly a full-length animated film in this style has no chance of physically existing. Sorry to say so, but these are facts, and I must stress that I'm sorry to tell you this, because I too find this short film very beautiful.
Came back to watch this after so long , because of the Free Guy ending. i was in the theater and this music was playing and i knew i heard it before. stood till after the movie was over and saw this as the song in the credits..
"I lost my job, met your mother, got a job that I liked, now I have a beautiful family, and every day since then has been the happiest day of my life."
The composer does the soundtrack for Free Guy, and I recognized the Paperman melody within some of those new songs. Was in tears! This song means a lot to me.
Just back from "Free Guy" and when the very first few notes started to play, I thought, I know this song, but where? Literally a few more notes later I almost cried out "PaperMan"! I so do love the short 6 minute film it came out . I used to watch it 3 times a day for months when it first came out. Once in the morning, then lunch, than at night. I had tears streaming down my cheeks in the theaters for "Free Guy". I'm not ashamed to say I am a 66 year old man who can be moved by Romance. Especially in the part where the paper airplane lifts off out of the flowers and she starts the chase. The only girl I ever kissed , I married. she passed away in 2009 after 30 years together. I think of her when I see this short. We got brought together kind of by accident. Back in 1980 while visiting my younger sister at her work, I held the front lobby door open for a very pretty young lady coming out. She smiled at me and said thank you making good eye contact. I didn't know her. 6 months later My sister (now a close friend of hers) had invited her over to my parents home not knowing I had met her and the young lady didn't know I was her Brother. She smiled and remembered I had held the door open for her. We talked, I asked for a date, she said yes. we haven't been apart since till her death .

the story is sweet, but you also got to take into consideration the fact that stories like these are what show guys that even if the woman says no or just doesn’t want the affection that the men should keep persisting.
@@marianasoler6371 It doesn't look like she said no to anything she just thought it was a passing moment, and then she got on the train thinking she won't see him again. It was meant to be because what are the odds that her office would be across from his, and the paper airplanes would follow him, and that one goes to her that flew in her face. It just shows that if things are meant to be they will happen you don't have to plan for anything, or persist if a woman wants you she will let you know.

“I want to fall in love with the content of a person’s character and the tenor of their soul - not just the way they look from across the room.”, my favorite quote that I feel in-tune with from 16 Personalities. 🥰
Tout me dit d'abandonner...
She, still of work, out of stress and the monotony of life, is immerse enjoying the little things, so she need but a whispers to follow, he on the other hand, tired of work, stress, and even angry, needed a mountain of "signals" to snap out of it and even thou, he only realized in the end.... this thing is filled to the brim with simbolysm, its so simole yet managed to leave thousands entrailed and wondering what would be next, we are at the mere beggining of a lifetime for those 2.... dammit, we lost this disney years ago.... and its heartwrecking
Paper represents work which seems to be dominating our lives. But in an ironic twist, paper is transformed into planes which provide him with the air support he needs to find that significant other. So, paper work and our careers are important but paper certainly worked to help him find true love. In short, life is not about paper work but there are more things greater and important in life like LOVE.
I wish I could accurately express how much love I have for this little six minute short. I really really really love Paperman so much and I'm glad I get to read all these comments of people who feel the same as I do.
My favourite piece of film music that's not the Blade Runner & Social Network soundtracks. Spent so much time when I feel a little down putting this on, clears it all away
before Your Name, there’s this one. Also, this is the representation of “let your purpose do all the work for you and good things will come”. Him making paper planes can mean working on your craft, doing things you really enjoy that gives you meaning in life and letting go of things that drags you down on becoming successful, and this leads you to meet the person that is right for you, and will love you.
I haven't found the one for me yet but whenever I feel down because I haven't found my love I always watch this short because it gives me hope not to give up. Makes me shed some tears of hope as well. Just goes to show the power of beautiful story telling
Wow, it's been almost 10 yrs already since i first watched this. It's still one of the best for me! This is so special for me. I just listened to the backgrpund music as well. ❤
I first saw this in my Spanish 1 class in my freshman year of high school in 2014. We used it to practice vocabulary and comprehension. We used other short films for similar purposes, but this one was my favorite. That teacher was the best. Also, something about Free Guy stuck out to me when I watched it, guess I know why now.
Thanks to Free Guy I now know about this lovely little film. What a great bit of music too. Both the Free Guy ending and Paperman get my waterworks going. Love is special. Also the ending of this short has some Meet Joe Black vibes - as they meet in the coffee shop.
@@sassiestkitten1 what a dumb comment. It's not even correct and even if it was, what does that have to do with anything. There's shorts on Disney plus that are 90 years old
Came back to this after so long cause it genuinely makes me feel good. A simple yet powerful love story. No hidden agenda, no must be said point to make on real world events. Just straight honest wholesome vibes.
In 2012, my boyfriend and I dressed up as the couple from this short. We thought they looked a bit like us. This year I chose this as the song I walked down the aisle to.

Tout me dit d'abandonner...
Absolutely gorgeous. This proves Disney has creators. True artists. Let them create.
Don’t know why but I always cry at the end of this video .. thanks!
She, still of work, out of stress and the monotony of life, is immerse enjoying the little things, so she need but a whispers to follow, he on the other hand, tired of work, stress, and even angry, needed a mountain of "signals" to snap out of it and even thou, he only realized in the end.... this thing is filled to the brim with simbolysm, its so simole yet managed to leave thousands entrailed and wondering what would be next, we are at the mere beggining of a lifetime for those 2.... dammit, we lost this disney years ago.... and its heartwrecking
if not one of the best short films disney has made
Paper represents work which seems to be dominating our lives.
I absolutely LOVE this short film a lot, it's one of my favorites! The man and woman look exactly like a perfect couple!
It's stuff like this that makes me want to get into 3D animation myself. It's the modern stuff that makes me want to avoid Disney while doing so.
best music in a film i've heard by far
My favourite piece of film music that's not the Blade Runner & Social Network soundtracks. Spent so much time when I feel a little down putting this on, clears it all away
It's in Free Guy too
Absolutely loved this when fursr saw it at cinema....was glad when ut won tbe Oscar.
Have never forgotten it ❤
Man, I love the new movie "Free Guy"
Such a wholesome animated short film😍
Added to my favourite list
If you are destined to have a girlfriend, magical coincidences will happen.
That's why I'm single.
Find one yet?
Doesn't mean it can't, or won't happen, so long as you're open and willing to the possibility.
Ouch
I needed a laugh. Thanks.
You’ll find her someday, mate. Never give up.
Ah i remember doing english work on this in primary,, was fun
I remember watching this after wreck it Ralph. It’s always been my favorite.
Not a single word was spoken, yet, we understood love, the universal language!
I'm not crying, I'm not crying... I'm still crying over this 10 years later.
We need a movie with those characters
I remember watching this film when I was in 6th grade!! Ahhhh the memories.... This was my favourite short film, still is, in fact!!
before Your Name, there’s this one.
This is easily one of their greatest projects
Still my most favorite disney short film!
I haven't found the one for me yet but whenever I feel down because I haven't found my love I always watch this short because it gives me hope not to give up. Makes me shed some tears of hope as well. Just goes to show the power of beautiful story telling
Watching this after a decade and i got emotional 😢❤.
I enjoyed Paperman short film is included on Wreck-it Ralph DVD that I watch in Theater when I was a kid 11 years old in 2012.
Moral of the story, sooner or later your efforts will be rewarded
It's cool how they made it black and white it makes it make more sense
Wow, it's been almost 10 yrs already since i first watched this. It's still one of the best for me! This is so special for me. I just listened to the backgrpund music as well. ❤
wow, no words, no colors but black/white, and red, and a story is told in 6 minutes. this is powerful.
4:21 “Come on Paper Plane’s, we got a Simp to save!”
Having a crush on someone does not instantly mean that you're a simp. It's like saying "yOu hAvE a GirLFRienD, WhAt A SiMp
The fact that this short film is one of the main reasons we have movies like spider verse and puss in boot 2 just makes it even better
Thanks to Free Guy I now know about this lovely little film. What a great bit of music too. Both the Free Guy ending and Paperman get my waterworks going. Love is special.
Also the ending of this short has some Meet Joe Black vibes - as they meet in the coffee shop.
I love this short so much and recognized the music immediately in Free Guy!
Why isn't this on disney plus yet
Because this short is about 20 years old
@@sassiestkitten1 8 years old
Because this short is actually good
It is on there. Maybe they’ve only put it on recently
@@sassiestkitten1 what a dumb comment. It's not even correct and even if it was, what does that have to do with anything. There's shorts on Disney plus that are 90 years old
sooo pretty. why didn’t they go with this animation style for wish😩
Will always be my favorite short film
I was freaking obsessed with this short on the wreck it ralph special features
This isn't just Disney's greatest animated short film, it's the greatest animated short film PERIOD
When the animation was just magical and not filled with some kind of agenda.. I miss those days..
As a hopeless romantic this shit hits so good
0:59. And that's how real life works.
Explain how Christophe created the single best piece of music I’ve ever heard
This was the short that won me over with Disney. It was gorgeous
Had to come back to this after hearing it on Free Guy
Came back to this after so long cause it genuinely makes me feel good. A simple yet powerful love story. No hidden agenda, no must be said point to make on real world events. Just straight honest wholesome vibes.
thank you for uploading this. im currently heartbroken. This song does goes a lil' way into mending it :)
You know the old tradition of a thousand paper cranes making a wish come true? Paper planes are close enough, it seems. :)
thank you art at midnight for bringing me here
A winner, love that it is in black and white and gray.
In 2012, my boyfriend and I dressed up as the couple from this short. We thought they looked a bit like us. This year I chose this as the song I walked down the aisle to.
I actually used to watch this a lot when I was younger, I loved it so much!
Omg thank you
My memories became alive
