Really love this, I even like the bit of shine to the waistcoat and other bits. I've just picked up What A Cowboy at Salute and now I'm looking for good wild west minis or stls. This is a lovely mini.

Looks great mate, doing something not from your wheel house is quite liberating! I need to heed that advice more frequently myself.

What a cracking paint job. I really like the paint scheme. Reminds me of that actor whose name I can’t remember. Sam something. He was In a film with Cher I think. Anyways, I digress. Amazing as always dude.

Great job 👍 western miniatures don't get a lot of painting video love like all the other miniatures but when they do it's always a good watch. Keep up the great work and hopefully you'll do more western painting video soon 👍

The beautiful thing about these kind of minis is that you don' t have to worry about real colours/FS or others, the choice is up to you, no headaches for realistic french or prussian blue!👍

No arguments about feldgrau or British battledress, either... aaah, I'm just gonna paint westerns the rest of my life. 😂

Personal projects, in which I've tried new paints (Army Painter's Speedpaints line) or techniques (the slap-chop method, a en grisaille variant to use Contrast over a gradient primer) have been the most fun I've had in painting miniatures in the last months. Pure fun.
Small number of minis (10 to 12), more variety than a regular wargame squad, quick and satisfying. Maybe I'll need to keep a Frostgrave warband on the ready every now and then, to "refresh" the fun feeling of messing with paints and brushes, so to speak.

    Great result !!!
Fun fact : I had the same issue with a spraycan of allegedly matt varnish which turned to be satin when dry ... Bought some brush on matt varnish and fixed it ...

Another thing to try (when experimenting with wood surfaces like the rifle stock) is to layer the top coat with Tamiya Smoke. It's a little glossy, but adds a really rich wood grain look to almost anything 32mm or larger. I epically like it on 1/16th (120mm) figures.
    Your results were beautiful!

Looks like a proper man to get in a shootout in Tombstone. Painting to just paint, and not for any particular reason, is relaxing. Painted up a bunch of robbed cyborgs (from Ramshackle Games) a while back for no other reason than I liked the models. Tried my hand at some extra highlighting and using contrast paints to add effects (like skeleton horde on standard metal to make it look aged). Also got a bit more fancy with their bases (I just do basic bases for most of my minis). Been thinking of grabbing some steampunk/dark western minis based on The Wizard of Oz characters from Reaper Miniatures. Just think painting them up could be fun (who doesn't like Steampunk flying monkeys?).

I did almost an inverse color scheme of this mini (dark blue pants, tan vest), it was amazingly fun to paint. :)

Wild West is a great break from painting uniformed troops since even the lawmen are in varied civilian clothes, lots of room for creativity, experimentation, or simply cutting corners to get them done

    Great video!
I just picked up a "Greenhorn Set" from Gunfighter's Ball after spending an afternoon gaming with Forest from Knucklebuster this last Saturday. Which btw is a quick and easy-to-learn game if anyone is interested. Good times!
BTW: I saw your videos on the other gunfighters you painted. Great job!
What base did you use for this model's gunbelt? It wasn't mentioned.
    Thanks again!

By coincidence, in another tab I just happened to stumble on to some of the Knuckleduster STLs over on MyMiniFactory. Some of those are pretty cool! I'll definitely have to check out the game itself, I'm always on the lookout for new rule sets. As for the belt, I'd accidentally cut the application: it's Mournfang Brown.

      @@SonicSledgehammerStudio Excellent, thanks!
And though you do need some buildings to make a good town, there are few good companies to choose from. But the nice part is that unless you feel the need to fill the streets with NPCs, you only need a few miniatures to play.

Hiya Sonic, great tutorial. Quick question, at about the 5.46 mark where you are talking about painting his trousers, do you mean you were thinking of maybe doing a base of Aggaros Dunes and shading with Snakebite leather?

Whoops! I thought I'd included that in the paint list, turns out I'd forgotten. I used Vallejo Matt - ordinarily it gives me perfect results, but today's waaay more humid than usual. Should have just brushed it on rather than trying a rattle can.
