I've been seeing these West Wing Anniversary videos all over that place on RUclips so guess who's watching it AGAIN from the beginning? Give up? ME and loving it all over again. God I miss the decent presidents! Give me the days back where hope didn't seem so far off.
I agree 1000% if 1000% was possible! In our dreams! They have now been sunk to an absolute LOW! Trump is just so good at being the lowest and worst person EVER. He was by FAR the very WORST President in history! I just had to say it! I didn't even want to hear anything about politics after he became OUR President and ignored as much as possible and was so happy to hear that Biden was elected 2020 because if nothing else it kept Trump OUT! I still sort of tried to stay away from political things until this year! This year I had to get back into being INFORMED and trying to have hope that TRUMP will NEVER again sit in the Oval office again! NOT GOING BACK! Thank you.
Not sure they aren’t. The people never get to see what the staff go through and do behind the scenes, regardless of which party is in power. They only see the media’s versions. Good or bad.
Loved seeing the give and take and opinions between the REEL Politicians and The REAL Politicians! One of my most favorite Episodes of the entire Series!
Why were only the presidents names subtitled? Oh, and Lanny Davis, too. But, Leon Panetta (WH Chief of Staff under Clinton), Dee Dee Myers (Press Secretary, Clinton), and Peggy Noonan (Speechwriter, Reagan) ... nothing. Why?
I went to a conference of the Future Teachers in Washington. Part of our trip was to have lunch with our Representative. Ours apparently didn't get the memo, he was back at his farm in my home town. Another Representative from our state took his place and brought along a fellow from the State Department. Those two folks were Gerald Ford and George Bush. Who'd have guessed where they would end up?
we all have a commitment in this commitment. We decide who gets into the offices Congress Senate and the president is sad that in Washington they’re not thinking about their constituents. All they’re thinking about is getting how much much richer and who they care about that’s not us for the It’s not us.
One of the most brilliant series of all day - unfortunately these days are gone of "breathing in" Peggy - Peggy who can not catch up with the fact that we no longer live in the refined world of 1990's politics when Bob Dole daily "reaches across the isle." You can not do that when we are on the precipice of up ending and destroying our foundations - those very foundations the both sides respected and honored many years ago. Those days are gone. Don't vote for the candidate - . Vote like the man who has an American flag in his front yard - yeah that's right because you already know which party he belongs to..
She was a consultant for the show. Actually, CJ has more similarities than Mandy. Mandy was a weird character. They didn't know what her role was. Probably wanted it to be a bit like Danny Concannon.
Oh "Yes Minister and Yes Prime Minister" is still revenant to this day. Even the lockdowns of the "4 stages strategies" to the British getting out of the EU.
How do I put this note to the Production Office... We appreciate your faith in us that we can identify all the real-world politicians... but even I, who watched nearly the entire series in primetime, am only batting .500. I feel more of these clips coming on this cycle (with approval, mind you) -- please identify the real-world pols, by name and position/administration, won't you, for those younger than my 59? (And I post this, and then you pick a clip of Lanny Davis from your source material which *does* include his original lower third. "Please ADD graphics for those segments you clipped out of the middle of the original material, and didn't bring their own along.")
This is just a snippet from a longer episode. I suspect people here who did not have their names appear here, had already appeared earlier in the episode and had their names already shown. That’s pretty standard, annoying, but pretty standard.
This was a special documentary NBC news created and aired in October 2002. I believe it's part of the special features included with the series' DVD collection, but it wasn't a regular episode, so probably isn't re-aired in syndication.
Rider bills need to be done away with. This, "I'll scratch your back if you scratch my back" legislation is garbage. Every bill should stand on its own merits. The only bill that should include multiple parts is the Federal Government's annual budget. From the get-go, the amount of money available should be decided upon, & to which areas that money will go to. Then Congress can hash out what areas get what percentage of that money, but that's it.

i did too and have woke up in middle of the night and watch a few episodes ;) just got finished listenung to the new book for us wingnuts !!
Best tv series ever.
TRUE 100%
This was such a perfect rewatch during COVID lockdown. I was desperate for normalcy in politics and this made me feel good about America again.
damn it, i choked on my coffee reading this.
If you want some whiplash, go back and forth between this and VEEP, it's a trip.
Wonderful! Best tv production ever.
I love the West Wing. I wish our government in the real world aimed as high.

I remember this one. It was so good. Honestly, one of my top 10.
Butterball hotline
One of the best shows ever
Possibly CJ's best monologue ever; what a great choice.

GOD, I miss this show.
The greatest Presidents of all time...Lincoln, FDR, Jed Bartlett, Teddy Roosevelt, George Washington, Barack Obama...
Obama is not nearly the same caliber as the others.
Bro tried to sneak Obama in there lmao
@@silkyjoker85-49because he belongs there
He belongs in jail
@@gailseatonhumbert YES he DOES! President Obama was fantastic! I still miss him being in office.
I loved the TV series . 🎉🎉
president clinton sounds a lot like my 4th grade teacher
So Mario Cuomo is where the quote about campaigning in poetry and governing in prose came from. 4:30. That's interesting.

@@_Hoagie Ah! Ok, thanks!
@@_Hoagie Yes, they did.
This is one section of a 40 minute episode. They are all named earlier in the episode.
Leo Leo Leo!
My grandfather had dinner with Gerald Ford at one point.
My brother's father-in-law's second aunt's husband did too!

I hope your grandfather didn't excuse himself from the dinner table and tell Gerry Ford "pardon me"- LMAO. Sorry, Gerald, I know that was too soon.
Looking very nice.😊
Innocent times. In DC, they take scalps now.
5 minutes 15 seconds in. Peggy Noonan. Don't you ever get tired of testing us all (The Help)

wtf does that mean?
2:50 wow, I guess I know who Mandy Hampton was based upon now. She even sounds similar!
She was a consultant for the show. Actually, CJ has more similarities than Mandy. Mandy was a weird character. They didn't know what her role was. Probably wanted it to be a bit like Danny Concannon.
CJ was based loosely on Dee Dee Myers, I would say Mandy was based on Clinton's media consultant Mandy Grunwald
No. That was DeeDee Meyers, the press secretary to Bill Clinton. CJ’s character was based on her, not Mandy.
A great series but the British comedy series ‘Yes minister followed by Yes Prime minister’ was a better summation of the political system.
Oh "Yes Minister and Yes Prime Minister" is still revenant to this day. Even the lockdowns of the "4 stages strategies" to the British getting out of the EU.
We have very different political systems, so no.
Ford was misunderstood and I liked him, great Veteran!
Only POTUS in history not elected by the people.
❤❤❤❤
"Put the country first." That's what President Joe Biden did. Remember.
Govern from the middle! Where most of of land.
most people are in "the middle"

: Relevant AF to Election 2024. (It was as well to 2016, but a lot of folks slept that one out.)
I’ve seen every episode….. not this one. Was it shown in the UK?

To get rid of rider bills Congress probably will have to vote on it and there won't be enough votes for it i'm sure.
@@aph1976Maybe they should pass the bills with something else to entice people to entice congress to vote for it!
So you exhale the presidency? Can you also fart a little presidency?
Anymore know who the other folks not identified are?

At 5:17 mark, none of what she describes applies to Trump..none of it.
A great show but I still think as a lifelong Republican and Nam veteran that all politicians lie and suck.
