i’m a big fan of shane’s style of drumming. mostly pretty contained, but he adds flair in all the right places. i’ve been trying to model my own style after his, and it feels very comfortable to play. keep it up guys!
I got my hands on a near mint ‘64 Powertone for a killer price from a collector that was liquidating a collection of about 80 vintage snares. I’d never owned anything from Rogers so this really interested me. I put new snares and new heads on it and gave it a go in my studio and really hated it. I always look for something unique in a snare, that makes me want to grab it and play it. I own 13 and all of them are unique to one another. I put the dual EQ snares on it and that improved it a bit, but still decided to sell it. Then, I took it to rehearsal with my Grateful Dead band and the whole band commented on that snare. I was blown away, because I was NOT hearing what they were hearing. So, I had our percussionist play it while I stood out in front of the kit and holy hell, it was like a different drum in my ears. Tony, good luck with the recovery pal! I’m on week 9 of a 12 week recovery from a horrible ankle injury. I have missed my drums a LOT, haha.
Get well soon Tony. Not that this will make you feel any better, but I'm about 90 days post-surgery (Four corner arthrodesis (fusion) of the left wrist, with Scaphoidectomy (removal of Scaphoid wrist bone). I'm currently in Physical Therapy. I hope to one day play drums again. I used to play both matched and traditional grip. Will no longer be able to play matched with left hand, but I should be able to play traditional with my left hand, due to that movement not requiring very much flexion/extension. We shall see. I'm hopeful. In the meantime, I watch way too many RUclips drum videos and blabber on with comments like this one. Anyway, I rambled. You guys are the best drum channel on RUclips and your engineering is second to no one. Hope you get well soon.
Hey Cameron! That must be hard! I don't wanna imagine, not to play and enjoy the instrument that I love. All the best for you and get well soon!!! Greetings from Cologne/Germany
@@freuerwerk Thank you Mark. It's just a current hurdle and I know I'll get over it. That's how life is sometimes... just part of the journey. I appreciate the kind words. Take care and hammer one out on my behalf.
As a Rogers player since the 1960's I'm happy to see a return of these drums. Nice video, I liked them all but the studio I record in would require me to tone down the ring. However, live performance I like the ring, it blends in with the music. Thanks for the video. I like your shop, you all do a great job. Rogers...nice looking, sounding drums.
I liked the 6.5 in both metal and wood the best, but if I could only get one I would pick the metal from what I heard. I had my first Rogers kit in 1972 and it came with a 5x14 metal Powertone because I couldn't afford the Dynasonic. It use to do a good job of cutting through on jobs and it was easier to tune than a Dynasonic. I hope Tony feels better soon and recovers quickly. My best to him.
My first brand new drum set was a Rogers XP8. It was the end of Rogers and Guitar Center was dumping their entire inventory. I bought a 4 piece shell pack with used TAMA hardware. I also got a Tama Deep metal snare and really like it. However, I heard a Rogers snare and wanted to get that deep wood snare to compliment my Tama. This was the 80's folks so you got to put this in context. I really like the Rogers snare drums shown here and it really would be nice to have both a wood and a metal for different applications. GREAT job on the video as always .
Wow! Too bad for Tony. Wish him a speedy recovery. And it’s barely into ski season! Best for me was the 6.5” metal with low tuning. Least liked for me was the 8” wood with high tuning. That’s odd for me, as I usually prefer wood and mostly 8” versions. Nice looking snares in either wood or metal finishes.
This is a fair price for a snare now days considering what other manufacturers are charging now days. The problem I have is what they are charging for there reissue drum kits.Id like to know what they were thinking of.They could have sold a ton of kits if they would have priced them somewhere in between a Ludwig classic, and a gretsch USA. Go figure.!!
I prefered the shallower maple drum, a more immediate full tone. I have to say that i think Rogers have fouled up changing the metal shell formula from chrome over brass to steel - OR maybe they will release a COB snare later on. I understand these are set to a price point and steel is cheaper to manufacture, but the original brass shells are something else.
Best wishes for speedy recovery, dear Tony! And greetings to everyone at DCP!

I bought the 8x14 steel Powertone, and I absolutely love it😊
I'm in the market for that model too.

So much phatness!
@@drumcenternh I know, right?
I absolutely love my rogers 14x8 satin maple snare I got from you guys!

In general, I liked both of the 5" models at the lower tunings. Thanks for the review.
Thanks for watching!
Top notch channel & content always 💯 Beautiful snare!!

Damn Tony! How are you supposed to blast beat with an effed up foot? Gotta be more careful.
Excelente apresentação das Caixas Rogers ! O Senhor Shane é um show a mais !!!
Tony! NOOOOO!!!! Get well soon, my friend. And great job on the video, guys. Curious as to how you guys decide what brands to carry.

I like the 8x14" Chrome but I think I'd put a moon gel on the resonant head to kill a wee bit of the overtones. Or change that head.
Great, solid sounding snares, good price as well. Get well soon Tony!
You go guys. Where Is the video of British drum companys Nicko McBrain kit I ponder? Did It sell fast or are you saving It for something?
Nice demos. I really liked the 5 and 6.5 in both shell options. So the wood shell drums have NO snare bed, at all??
Goddam that kick sounds amazing
Ditto
Thinking the same thing!
Really pleasing!
I love them all!
I wish you could also incorporate some sort of ringing suppressor, like moongel, etc. In addition to leaving the drum wide open, of course.
We did that in a recent video and people complained.
My COB definitely has a snare bed. Not much of one but it is there
Good snare to add to your collection. I have a 1960s brass version. Something different in contrast to my Ludwig aluminum and Gretch Maple snares.
Dear Tony! Get well soon! Looks like saturday night's all right for fighting just not true...
Damn, you guys did Conor McGregor dirty.
Also, get well soon Tony, sir.
I love this channel and Bacon sandwiches
Go Rogers!

My powertone had clevland tag and was finished inside with gray paint.
Just received the new 5×14 piano black maple/poplar Power Tone I ordered from you. Tuned up easily, sounds great, fantastic drum. Thanks!
Awesome!!
I had a 61 powertone in blue sparkle had rerings and sounded so good but gave to my student so she could learn.
Are the wood shells the same as the DynaSonic shells?
Nice vid..
But i don't like the crack of this ones.
Im looking for a pearl joey jordison 13x6.5 snare.... Please tell me you have one i can buy

i had a 14 by 5.5 wood powertone from 60s it was silver inside had 5 ply shell with re, rings and it sounded great but i sold it. had regret since.
also had blue and gold sparkle finish the gold faded to silver. but under lugs showed true color.
I thought I would like the 14x8 best but after hearing it liked it least, to much ring for my taste especially the metal shell.
Wowwww nice
Honestly, no great impressions on any of these snares. Good products overall, but that's it.
He didn’t like them.
Awesome!!!
