Doug looks like the regular YTer in his room talking about his favourite show or something...yet, he is one of the finest guitarists in the world! Saw him live a couple of times and he always delivered!!!
00:54 - I love that he was able to snatch up this guitar on the cheap!
miss his great jackson
guitars from the '80s 👍
Doug is one of the best players in the world. That 2005 Whitesnake DVD in London is amazing. His performances with Dio are also incredible. I also really enjoy his guitar work in Dead Daisies and Revolution Saints. Such a humble guy.
Met Doug in the UK a few years back at a guitar clinic, it was during his Whitesnake days, he’s the most down to earth, polite classy guy you could ever meet, not at all like a “Rock Star” what a pleasure, so refreshing and what a monster player he is too 👍🏻😎🤘
yea I met him after a show in Vegas, Raiding the Rock Vault and you are correct. So down to earth and an all around nice dude.
Gibson should have a signature series with Doug...
they were working on a DA signature model.. it was in work in progress, I probably have a picture of the prototype somewhere.. there's no similarity to any of his other guitars, not a usual guitar he ever used before.. it was a modern guitar with killswitch buttons. If I'm correct and I remember fine, it was a Tobacco Sunburst
@@stefanofranco154 and they just never put it out? Sounds like a cool guitar.
@@GreekGuru74 nope, they never released and I've seen it because Doug posted it on his instagram page and he then removed it
Would love to see that
@@jackyrockgod whenever you want :) you can coctact me
Awesome player, have loved Doug's work for years. For all the times I've seen him play live over the years with his many bands and for all the Les Pauls, the absolute standout moment for me was him playing the Gates Of Babylon solo on that beat-up Strat. Made an old rocker very happy 👍🤟🤟
The 73' Black Beauty & Gary Rosington are my favorite Aldrich LP's. Gorgeous and both of those sound amazing from the live vids he's done with those two. The BB sounds HUGE!
I've been following Doug for so many years, I love his playing and he's such a humble guy. Thanks for the video those Les Pauls are more beautiful than the other!
Doug is a great player, he deserves to have some of these nice vintage guitars, he's truly has a love for these guitars. I had a lefty 1974 custom Les Paul, it's gone and I will never be able to get another one, so it's nice to see someone else have and play these beautys
I’ve looked after Doug a few times at gigs. Great guy.
Great video and awesome collection!
That was great, really enjoyable
Doug's amazing. so down to earth too
Doug is one of the good guys. Love his meeting Randy Rhoads story. Dude gets the gigs like Rudy. Chops are a given - you have to be a cool hang to get those top shelf gigs.
Cool axes Doug..thanks for sharing
Thank you Doug for sharing your story of your guitars, you have always been one of my favorite Guitar players over the year's, this is Ernie from Chicago. i play bass and we jammed together at the Thirsty whale for a benefit a few years back...
What a simple, charming, sweet, positive, gentle and of course, a smokin player.
Doug seems like such a nice guy....imagine having a resume like his! talking about being experienced.
Now that's ROCK. Got to see Doug with Whitesnake at Silver Springs, Fl. He had a 10 minute guitar solo an it was brilliant.
Cool thanks for sharing your guitars and great guitar work with all the projects you've done keep Rockin bro
Awesome guitars 🎸🎸🎸💯💯💯❤❤❤
Sweet! Would be nice if you could upload all the past releases of Doug Aldrich lesson teaching "Forevermore" songs!
Black pick-guard on the gold-top looks lovely, that and the Randy Rhoads tribute.
The sign scratches shows for me how rock in spirit is Doug...
I saw joel hoekstra lol
Some killer guitars there! One of my favourite players!
To a man that has stayed the course and always played and loved the Gibson LP guitar(s) your playing is well enjoyed and definitely underrated....God speed to you and your family. Dont quit on us now continue playing. Remember...Old once young twice.
HE IS JUST MAGNIFICENT. WE LOVE YOUR WORK, THANK YOU
Such a humble dude! Would't tell by the way he attacks a guitar though. Love y'a Doug and the new record kicks asss!!
Thanks Doug you the man.
Hey Doug, nice guitar collection. I hope to see The Dead Daises at The Sellersville Theatre in Sellersville, Pa sometime soon.
What a nice humble guy i saw him in 2008 on the Good To be Bad tour in Birmingham England 🏴 excellent White Snake line up
Nice collection 👌
I never knew Doug taught Guitar lessons at Instrumental music in Thousand oaks. I used to go to the Santa Barbara store all the time when I lived out there. Doug is an awesome Musician. great video
Beautiful Guitar's , Luck with all
Doug is so cool and an absolutely gentleman. I saw The Dead Daisies at Rock City Nottingham recently and he came out to the queue, people had photos with him etc etc. Absolutely cool as 10 a one of the good guys! Legend. 🤘
Doug keep up good work !!! Love yah brother jeff
He got 1978 Les Paul custom for $400!!! 😱 Even with inflation rate now, that guitar still under $1000 🙀 such a lucky dude
I am stunned at that ultra low price for an esteemed guitar such as that Custom !
I got my '69 for $400 Canadian in about 1983! Also, when we went to the US festival that year in California, there was a shop in Hollywood called Voltage Guitars. They had a 1959 Flametop in mint condition for $1,100.00. Yes- one thousand, one hundred dollars. Everyone was selling their "boring" old Les Pauls and Strats to hotrod guitars like Van Halen. Unfortunately I was only 17 and didn't have $1,100, and of course had no idea what was going to happen to the value of them.
I like that Doug gravitated to the LP. He's been able to really make it "his thing". I can remember when he played a Jackson in the 80s (Hurricane) but I always think of him now with the gold top. Beyond that, I'll say it again, he 's a really great guy. I've met him a couple of times and even auditioned for one of his bands. If you ever hear his "meeting Randy Rhoads story" he went on to carry on that same mindset. Great player, great guy.
He's from Raleigh, NC, no? Nice guy. Whitesnake is kind of like bubblegum rock, no? Coverdale was best with Deep Purple. THat said, Glenn Hughes is brilliant!!!! Great talent
As a huge fan of both Mr. Aldrich and les paul guitar, this video is fantastic for me! By the way, I wonder where did the Jackson guitars he used in the 1980s go...
Love the black pick gaurd on a gold top
Fantastic collection of guitars. I'm wondering what happened to the red Jackson guitar (I think) that Doug used in the late 80s/early 90s with house of lords?
Seems such a nice guy,
Such a nice guy
Hey Doug great channel! In 1971 I traded a broken Les Paul copy for an old Stratocaster played it for a while and put it away I found out a couple of months ago that it’s a 54 Stratocaster serial number 0260…. I was 18 years old and my guitar was 17 I’m going to be 70 in March and the pawnshop was in Chicago as well have a great evening!
Doug Aldrich is a Beaut.
Awesome
Just can't stop loving Doug.
incredible guy---guitarist,,live whitesnake is legendary double dvd set
Great player and a humble chap. In the Dio video where you use that black Start you also had a gold(ish) looking Strat with a HSH configuration. I can't find any information in it, I remember it had tape on either side of the neck humbucker, could someone provide some information if you have it? Thank you.
Doug is so NOT a RockStar and a total RockStar at the same time. Such a positive dude🤘🏻🙏🏻
ダグの Don't Talk To Strangers が大好きぴぃ
The early '68s were left over 50s, so probably center seam flame maple top. I have had 2 of them!
GOD Bless You 🎸🎸🎸
My favorite gunslinger!
Gee me too! My first good guitar was a 1973 Gibson LP Gold Top. Like everyone else in the day, I out a DiMarzio super Distortion in it.
A famous guitarist that is so grounded, he refers to other famous musicians as his idols. 🤟
You rule man !!
I think Doug likes his Gibsons!
As a Les Paul collector, I must say that I really understand Aldrich's love for LPs. Every time I play one of them I don't need pedals or else. Just thr guitar and the amp.
I’m sad because we didn’t get to see any of his Jackson guitars.
yeah what rad guitars, his signatures
as far as I know, he got very few of them, lots of his Jackson guitars were sold and he the decided to by stuff like Fender and Gibson guitars..
i wonder if Doug ever got a chance to join Ozzy. He's got that Randy Les Paul Custom
I was hoping to see his signature Jackson guitar.
that Rossington burst is the bees knees.
He wins the Spicolli award for 2022
Hey Doug I noticed a fender tele next to your guitars and you never mentioned anything about it????
I wandered if you ever liked the telecaster???
gold top with p-90 is the most beautiful guitar in my opinion :)
2003 Historic Les Pauls have Brazilian Rosewood fretboards like 50s bursts!
great vid shame he didn't play any of them through an amp
Doug let me play that Rossington. It’s very cool.
I'm assuming the days are gone of being able to find a high-end guitar at a pawn shop. The prices of guitars at my local pawn shop are pretty much the same as at Sweetwater or Guitar Center etc. Even formerly-cheap old guitars are expensive at pawn shops now.
Yeah. Quick internet look-ups kind of put an end to that.
I live around the corner from Instrumental music. Now I’m tripping. Lol.
Me too! 😎
You didn't know that Doug taught there? Well, at the old location further down TO Blvd. I was a student of his back in the early '80's... he is still the cool, humble, and nice guy as he was back then.
@@ESC9242 yeah I meant because I also took lessons from Doug 🤘🏼
@@MarkKirbyMusic there was about 70 of us out there! I still have his old business card and his used guitar picks that I would get after my lessons. I am glad to see his success... he is so deserving!
@@ESC9242 I saw him at NAMM a few years ago. He still remembered me. 😀
Damn now i want a gold top
Doug Aldrich is awesome. Such tone. Amazing player.
Love Doug got some killer guitars to
I remember Doug having a LP with Jimmy Page carved initials in it during a white snake show in London, in fact i have a video of that Hammersmith show. I didn't see Jimmy's intials on that gold top, i wonder if Doug got rid of that guitar because his initials would have been the most famous then Tony's.
I expected to see his Suhr Aura. but no luck
And the Telecaster that is so visible in all the segments except the first and last?
I bought a used black Les Paul custom in 1986 for $400. Sadly I also sold it in 1989 for $400. Les Pauls were totally unpopular in the mid to late 80s until Slash brought them back and made them the multiple thousand dollar guitars they are now. There should be a statue of Slash in front of Gibson headquarters!
Lady Gaga signs the back of his guitar but Tony Iommi is the "most famous one" What a cool dude.
Lady Gaga can suck Tony shoes, lol
I had a $20k Gibson collection back in the early 2000s. sold most of them, but since i bought my frankenstrat it is all i play. i also have a 2011 Les Paul desert burst and a 1983 SG black I had since new. Interesting cheap guitar i have is a Jackson Dinky with a whammy, it plays like a monster and stays in tune nicely i paid $120 for it.
Hello Doug👋Like and kiss you💋🙋🏽♀️
Wheres the jackson guitars from Lion and Hurricane? Lol ive been following you for a long time.Awesome guirarist
It seems there's a strong tendency with many great guitar players to turn back to good ol' proven formulas like Les Paul, Telecaster and Strat.
@@bumpyroad3251 EXACTLY, i play les pauls all the time, even though i have the shredder guitars.i bought my first jackson guitar, cause i seen Doug Aldrich play one.lol
@@bumpyroad3251 they just buy whats cool, like anyone else ;)
I use to be a student of Doug's back in the early '80s... I remember a show that he played where he slipped on some spilled beer on the stage and slammed his white Soloist's headstock right on the stage floor! He was so pissed! It split the stock. He had been playing that guitar since his old band Mansfield.
Isn't the first strat by Todd Krause? The man's signature is on the back of the headstock.
they didn't put soapbar pickups in 68 les pauls did they? I'm a big perplexed. maybe I don't know gibson guitar like I thought.
Every single one of them were killer but my heart was with the cream Randy Rhoads Les Paul. I almost cried when he said he only paid $400 for it
400 bucks for a les paul. I remember the days before internet when a guy could get great guitars at a great deal. Now they're harder to find and increasingly more expensive. .Doug. really cool video seeing some of your guitars. I hate that your Les Paul came back from Foreigner with a broken Headstock. We always read they sound better that way...blah blah bkah...lol.who would want their 5-10k Guitar broken...Again Thanks Doug, your playing never fails the show..
I was laughing watching the video. Reminded me when my girlfriend said "but you told that one was you best favorite guitar..."
I wonder if you blindfolded Doug....if he could tell each guitar !
Coolest dude ever wish you the best... Rock 🎸 On
Damn. An aged white Les paul custom for 400...
Arigato Jose Mas to you, as well 😎
Would love to know the serial number of that black Strat - I have a very similar one also put together by John Cruz (mine still has the original pickups). Maybe they are sequential/brother and sister!
Where are all your reversed headstock Jacksons?
Whenever I think of Doug I think of him just ripping into that solo in "Burn" on the whitesnake DVD.
Geez...$ 400.00 for a Gibson Les Paul Custom! Those were the days.
Does the Strat has a big headstock cause it looks like it.
Ah hah. Doug likes having the belly contour on a Les Paul too.
Crazy as I got my 78 Custom White(yellowed) in 88 also but only paid $300😊
A les paul custom for 400 dollars..that what I call a good deal.
Frankly I'm waiting for your 90s jackson signature but it didn't show up..
