Great content as per usual. I've always been tempted by the 585. I've got the 555 and 565 and love them both. The new camera and editing has made a big difference!
585 is a dream saw for those who love classic carb, so much power, have one and it is pure sweetness working with that chainsaw. First saw that has everything when you buying chainsaw: double spikes, 24" bar on mine, huge oil and gas tank, nice air filter and well balanced. For me feels lighter than 572 xp even specs says different. Cheers✌️
When I first started cutting, i thought more was better...double dogs, wrap handle...but, like you said, those get in the way big time when trying to flush cut a stump.
Yup for most semi flat land logging standard handle is the best bet, if your using a skidder tractor or small dozer you got to have low stumps so you can get around without beating up equipment. That 585 sound's pretty nice seems like a good fit for the size of hard wood your cutting, anyways take care
Kind of makes a point for me and hopefully folks who pay attention. The world of RUclips modded saw focus & cookie timed cut mentality means really very little when trying to actually work in more awkward situations. My 572 is pounds lighter and will prolly beat the 585 in a cookie cut No where near as user friendly cutting those tree's as they need to be harvested. How do I show the reality of that? Words really just don't "cut" it. ( Punny right?) It's the RIGHT configuration and power delivery vs. the most bling and power that makes an effective tool. And things like vibration and noise mean nothing at a race or GTG but mean everything after a few hors on a saw.
i run only. 395s. i log every day its not to wet ,i have a few clones. cant tune the carb with the muffler stock, drill it out or replace with a husky with no screen and tabs been out , twice the saw with a muffler mod.
If igrab my 572 to cut a large hardwood tree it feels like i am fighting the tree whereas the 592 allows me to simply walk up and knock the tree over. It's kind of like you said the delivery of power.
The 585 is nice because it’s a half HP less than the 592 but you can adjust the carburetor. I’m picking one up soon. I hate the Auto Tune saws. Just another thing to break
Why don’t you just put the 1/2 wrap handles back on? You’ve never liked full wraps, you haven’t said one good thing about full wraps other than they look cool. I’ve tried them too and just can’t get used to them, always in the way for my cutting which is real similar to yours. In fact I just put the 1/2 back on my 592
Guess My work saws will all end up with a 1/2 wrap. My for fun saws will be about fun so some will get a full wrap. I love them playing around and with GTG type things. Hate them when working the woods. Go figure. Have to have at least one Bling saw. May end up being the 572 and a stock muffler & 1/2 wrap back on the g395. It's actually a solid saw. And the 575 will come back with a 24 inch versacut I think. The g395 might go to 32 to explore that a bit. It's certainly got enough to do that. Maybe a Stihl light 32, 1/2 wrap, bigger bucking spikes & a quieter muffler?
You need to design yourself quick release full wraps. Snap them on when playing around with your friends and showing off but pull them off when no ones looking and you're actually trying to get some wood on the ground!
@@afleetcommanddo you have any saws with the “g” (heated pistol and handle) feature? Nice setup in these increasingly colder wny fall days - about 30 today in my neck to n the woods - kept hands nice and toasty warm 😊
As a card carrying 'old guy' I switched away from my big old 661 recently, i swap between a 440 and 362 as my main workhorse saws, while i can run the big 661 or 395 all day, i figure the little saws will do the job, at the cost of a little time, but save my shoulders.
I have a full wrap on my 572. I actually prefer it over the 1/2 wrap. The root flared though. The full wrap is annoying then for sure. That 585 looks like it runs nice! Why did you go with that vs. the 592?

You should break out your 390xp and see how it compares, power to weight.
Really enjoyed this video. Great mix of explaining and doing!
Can't wait for you to put the 592 in your roster...
Can hear that you've got that 585 carb dialed in very well! ...of course, expect that you would.
When I first started cutting, i thought more was better...double dogs, wrap handle...but, like you said, those get in the way big time when trying to flush cut a stump.
That 585 kicks ass.

For a supposedly low compression saw that 585xp seems to pull nicely ! Even hit the limiter with the bar loaded

And you can bolt a 592 top end on that saw if u need more :) And still have a carburetor
That tree that Shawn was dragging out about min 17:00 was a “dangler” 😂
Nice 😊 🤠👌👌👍
