- Heyyyy sorry not sorry it's been a few months since I last posted. I was working, apartment hunting, and job hunting at the same time.
Now I have a new job and new apartment both coming in the next few weeks :-)
And here's highlights of one of my favorite animes!!! If you haven't watched Uramichi Oniisan, I definitely recommend! It takes the sting out of being an adult, even if just for 24 minutes at a time.

4:25 as much as the entire show had me laughing through the dread, this fucking line. this line is the most painfully accurate depiction of working that i've ever seen. i thought people were joking when they said stuff like this. i thought, oh, surely it can't be that bad. i was a fool.

We were all fools. This anime is the most relatable thing I've watched in years and I don't know if that makes me want to laugh or cry.
it's even worse when you're a teacher & you have two days to plug some huge event that the principal JUST told you about

I don't know if the script is faithful or not but I'll be damned. This dub is quality on its own.
I can quite remember the subs of this anime by hearing this dub, so it's pretty faithful to the original
I'd say it's pretty faithful. I've only watched the sub so far but the dub looks like its done a good job with the casting and script.

This is some of the most genuine and hilarious dialogue I've seen in a dubbed anime for a while.
They did a GREAT job with the casting, just superbly hilarious!

I have never heard of this show before. I feel that most Japanese comedies kinda get lost in translation when dubbed, but this... this is perfection
Simple, use the best of the English language to make the comedy work.
Plus, this is more general black comedy than traditional Japanese comedy so it's mostly easily translated.
You can tell the voice actors had a lotta fun with this show

well when most of the VAs are older than the characters they play, they cant really use their normal tones of voice. since most of the main cast in this show are adults, they can get away with sounding more natrual.

For one, this is Josei, which means it's more mature and it's fanservice targets women more(probably why almost all the men look like models in some capacity or maybe that's just how they're designed in shojo/Josei animanga). Also, this one is dark comedy.
Plus, you do know that Nichijou exists, right?
I think Saiki K(which is shonen) also doesn't do a lot of risqué scenes(though I haven't watched it so I can't be sure).

Hearing Ray Chase and Adam Gibbs in the same dub feels weird considering they're basically each other's counterparts, voicing a lot of similar characters and dubbing many of the same seiyus.

The artist for the product development department has to be one of my favorite characters. Oh my god, that is a man hanging on to his sanity by less than a thread 😂. I watched this subbed, definitely going to have to go back and watch it dubbed!

I just realised that there’s a running gag in this anime. When one of the kids says something about their parents ( age, forgetting something, etc.), it’s like they kicked them in the balls. In ep 1 a girl says that her dad is 29 and expects that Uramichi is also married with kids, because he’s 31 years old. That’s literally kicking him in the balls

They say Japan is one of the hardest 1st world countries to live in, it wasn't that long that those working dirty or manual labor jobs were treated with contempt, careers in entertainment were poor until you make it up to the 1% of best actor/singer/comedienne. Pay is equal to US public school teacher's salary if not lower. All come at the price of homogeneous social state with free healthcare and low crime.

Buddy, you probably barely watch any dub.
Moreover, since this is a comedy anime, if you want laughs, all the dub need to do is make the jokes English and stick to the tone.
Of course, you'd like it if it was your kind of show.
I swear this has Persona 4 Animation dub's level of comedy which is legendary
