    Holy crap PSY! You played extremely well. Sneaking those lings into his base and killing a bunch of workers was fantastic and your creep spread was really good too. Guys like whiteRa are used to the pressure these tournament games induce so the fact that he was able to work through the pressure just means one thing for you...Play Even More Tournaments! I love your casts!

    @DarkOne57s You are correct, Zerg is pretty UP. If you make one mistake you're dead beacause your units are so squishy. Make a mistake as toss and you'll be fine. Toss units have much more life, and they can retreat and recharge shields. They also have units that are basically designed to obliterate zerg units. The colossuss and rays are Zerg terminators.

    There is a simple and effective way to go observer-hunting which is very helpful (and not only because you can use burrow-micro vs the P-ball). Corrupters and Overseers have about the same speed, as you build up enough corrupters to battle the collossi, have them patrol or attackmove over your bases and your army together with an overseer. It really helps and he probably wont build new ones in a jiffy.

  • @bredero78
    @bredero78 14 лет назад

    Whitera had good micro on his colossus which put him ahead. The observer made that he knew what you were capable off and just had the right units while taking his 4th and even 5th before you. That last attack was very poor and again excellent position by whitera with his colossi but he was already way ahead at that point so it didn't matter too much anymore.
    In short better scouting, micro, macro (eventually) and better decision making. That's what makes him such a strong player. Well played

  • @rocksparadox

    @Psystarcraft Getting tunnelclaws for the roaches can pay off and having the hydras in the back with the roaches balled in front of them to absorb and dish out some damage. When he forcefielded that group a crucial part of your hydras were stuck and of course getting a few infestors instead of flying units can help, fungal growths on such a tightly stacked ball really pay off.

    the deciding factor was the missed timing attack with pure hydra
    Once collosus come out with a sizeable gateway support, even one collosus, it completely destroys a pure hydra composition
    If I go heavy on hydra I always make sure to make a timing attack before collosus can come out. I bring speed overlords to put creep along a lane, and do as much damage as possible while getting spire (in case I need it)
    Also, an overseer would've helped immensely to swat obs as well as scout his Col timing

    @ColdSword816P its a technique used alot by players such as Destiny (formerly of ROOT). It prevents any sort of blocking off of the ramp by pylons or some shenanigans like that. If you watch Day9 daily 326 i believe, Destiny explains it more in detail.

  • @BobVosh
    @BobVosh 14 лет назад

    Guardian shield was your doom for that second fight. Also I think you should have expanded instead of attack for the first big fight vs colossus etc.
    Spire was late, and then you kinda over made corrupters. Not enough to be terrible, but more than really necessary. That said you did way better than I ever could vs WhiteRa. GJ :D

  • @uniquelypinoy
    @uniquelypinoy 14 лет назад

    I think if you went speed borrow roaches before hydras and pressured him you could have done a lot better, but biggest mistake was probably the late spire. In the engagement on your gold he had good forcefields but if you had some corruptors you could have easily taken out his forces. But I think that you already know where you can improve. Overall very nice play!!

  • @joozeus
    @joozeus 14 лет назад

    Hi Psy, I would suggest that mainly the reason why you lost was because you did not properly challenge him in the macro game. At 6:25 he starts building his natural, at 11:22 (5 minutes later) you start building your third. The careless early ling losses and mass producing more lings Certainly affected this.
    When you spot his natural you should either focus all on attacking units to punish the protoss or take a third ASAP. Also, early roaches would have enabled you to take down rocks earlier.

  • @PeterDawoud
    @PeterDawoud 14 лет назад

    @sastath I don't play zerg, I don't even think I have the apm required to handle it, but lings are useful in that they are cheap distractions and can turn the tide of a big battle like Psy had. That said, WhiteRa is a beast, not sure any level of strategy could handle him :D

  • @Prime7787
    @Prime7787 14 лет назад

    to me the biggest factor during that small battle near your extractor was the sentry, not the colossus, because the guardian shield really absorbed soo soo much damage since you didnt have any lings and all your units were ranged, in the beggining you can see that all his units were perfectly protected in that guardian shield.

  • @shinji2oo4

  • @MonkeyHood
    @MonkeyHood 14 лет назад

    The force fields forced half your army to do nothing near the start of the battle. While WhiteRa had his full army attacking.
    The zealots did soak up/deal quite a bit of damage to from your roaches too. Plus, your entire force was pretty much in a straight line as opposed to a clump. Max colossus damage.

  • @ndewhurst12
    @ndewhurst12 14 лет назад

    @EliteHershey Exactly. I tried this against my Protoss friend, he is in the top 300 NA, and he was telling me it felt like he had to play at 2000 APM. Paired with overlord speed, you can Nydus the main, and then start a nydus at the third. Once you see forces you can fungal the ramp or just leave and take down the 3rd. I got this idea from seeing Jinro play on Jungle Basin and just deny the third infinitely. If you can do this to a Protoss then a win can come easy.

  • @drlowensteinphd
    @drlowensteinphd 14 лет назад

    For that one confusing fight, I think he blocked off his collosi surprisingly well with his zealots. You had to go all the way around to the south-west flank just to hit them.

    the 'inbetween' comment you made i think is very relevant to the macro side of the outcome (to a little degree you were out macroed). and i think some of the timings/locations of battles were inopportune. in blob against blob, toss is strongest (without micro). so i think you needed more harassment, i really liked the ling run-by.
    it almost like who he was got to you a bit, if so it will become less common with more instances. :) a really well played game.

    The reason you lost "The Battle" was 2-fold:
    1. You walked into his army, which was AWAY from your spine crawlers.

    @11:11 I really think that the creep spread is what cost you that battle. You were focusing his colossus down but he force fielded and you moved into that funnel without creep and the stalkers/zealots got free hits on you. Also need faster spire. But gg vs Whitera really impressive. I know I would get owned

  • @ck1147

    This is probably minor, but in the battle you were talking about, he had three colossi. One of them was in the red from earlier, and it was the last colossi you killed even though it was in the front the whole time. Think you could have taken a couple less shots from the colossi if you had taken the one in red out first.

    apart from lacking on corrupters, whiteRa has some kind of old ancient magical power that makes his army ALWAYS win. Remembering WhiteRa vs. Sen, where Sen smashed down his collossi with tons of corrupters without losing any others units to the big tall buttshit collossi. Nevertheless, Sen lost soooo damn hard, man. unbelievable. WhiteRa is the man, that can do everything right now. Now here is the thing. In the end at almost every WhiteRa game, u can see WhiteRa having only stalkeer and collosi

    good game all round I feel. I think you lost it when you kept engaging him off creep. It would have been interesting if you split your army and flanked him on either side of that choke you mentioned on the right side of the map. Better creep towards his gold mine would have helped a lot more.

    I would have liked to see some more attempts at zergling run by's especially since the first expansion has a back door and the third expo can also be hard to get to. An earlier spire would have helped with the first battle that was barely lost and more active scouting, see where his army is and what he is doing. Have overseers contaminate buildings. idk just some ideas
