Wow. Just wow. I lived in SH for a couple years, but honestly can't imagine living there due to:
    - (still) not totally clean tap water
    - polluted air (depends on the day, sometimes it can be very polluted, sometimes its ok---but no great, especially having to check every day, and you never feel the air really being fresh)
    - no parks to wind down where you can actually sit on the grass
Honestly thats it. The food is amazing, the infrastructure couldnt be better, the buildings are insanely impressive, everything is just wow. The weather is good too, although it can get a bit too hot and humid in the summer. But thats ok, there is AC everywhere. If those points get solved, I'd honestly move there in an instant. But those points are basic needs (at least for me) that make life comfortable and increase life quality. I grew up in Germany and we dont have any tall buildings are any subway system that is even close to as good, but our electric wires are all underground (no wire poles above street level), our tap water is so clean you don't have to worry about drinking it everyday and our air is so clean you don't have to worry about checking the air pollution level everyday.
And I did realise after living in SH for nearly 3 years how these small things are actually super important and are an incredible luxury to have.
But I am not going to be surprised if China gets these things solved soon as well. I definitely hope so, because then I can move there haha!

You shouldn't be drinking tap water anywhere to be honest.

A lot of passage bridges and layered buildings on top of each other, and bridges that will continue when the construction of the other layered buildings are finished.
We are looking a vertical city design with passage bridges..

What's with the giant stuffed animals? I see them all over Asian cities and never asked about their cultural significance.

No cultural significance, Asians just like cute characters and other cute furry things.

@@DescendantofYellowEmperor so just because I’m commenting on the obviously polluted air that means I must be jealous of this police state dystopian megacity? No thanks, but keep convincing yourself that people are jealous of your country even though the Chinese diaspora around the world is huge and by comparison there are small countries in Europe that have more immigrants than China. Very few people actually move to China and that says a lot.
I’m very happy with where I live, it’s a smaller city, it’s vibrant, but quiet and clean, with the cleanest air and some of the freshest sweetest water in the world coming from my tap.
It’s a hotspot for Chinese tourists, students, investors, property buyers and migrants.
