hailey in bookland: • the BEST books I've re... Развлечения
Jack, you should read every book Isaac reads in heartstopper. He is such a cutie and we always see him with a book.
Omg what a fab idea
I was thinking the same thing while watching it!!
I was thinking the same. See him reading A Good Girl's Guide to Murder and Radio Silence.
That’s such a good idea yes plss
Also thought this while watching haha
I don't know if it's intentional but I really appreciate Jack reading everything shown on the screen out loud
Same. I can't always look at the screen when I'm watching.
Same, I’m visually impaired and nothing happening on the screen means anything to me.
someone explain to me why did I read this comment as "I don't know if it's international but I appreciate Jack reading day is today" I haven't slept in over 30hs I think my brain isn't working anymore
@@uhhcarrie go get some sleep
“i think my brain is in one of those phases where you just decide that you hate yourself” why is this so relatable 😭😭😭
i can't get my head or heart around the idea that you are at odds with yourself jack. you are a gem
@@jmsl910 Such a sweet comment! I totally agree, but I guess we are all human and have these kind of thoughts about ourselves sometimes. I hope he feels better now and I am glad he took some time off for himself❤
@@janetl7123 janet, you are right. jack is my son's age and i guess i feel a bit maternal... but you are absolutely correct.
Yeah it me. Constantly 😞😔
imagine saying extremely casually "oh two members of the heartstopper cast just dmed me" 😭😭😭
i would be freaking out 😭😂
i would actually faint if that happened
I wanna know WHO it was
Jack, you should do reading my subscribers favourite books! I think it would be fun and I just really want to see you read and get your opinion on les misèrables
Yes you can put a survey and we can write the titles then you can read the top 5
Yes please!!
Yes yes yes to Les Misérables omg my favourite book of all time 💕
It’s good but it takes Jean Valjean 50 pages to just get from one place to another lmaoo
I'm 100% for this!! I'd love for him to read my favorite books and then read me for filth
« 2 members of the heart stopper movie and an author just texted me » we get it jack, you’ve made it😥😥🤣🤣 kidding, but you have done really well jack and I’m happy to see it
One of the characters in heartstopper is constantly reading different books and I’m partially convinced they did that just so Jack could make a video
I haven’t watched the video yet but I’m putting my money on Jane Eyre Laid Bare to be the worst rated
Don’t fear the slump Jack, lean into it! It’s so natural to need a break after the insane volume of videos you’ve been pumping out. You can reassess and pivot if you need, in the meantime we have hundreds of your vids ripe for a rewatch.
Jack getting DMs from the big leagues. This is the character growth we wanted on the channel lol
The highest rated book I have seen on Goodreads is Know My Name by Chanel Miller (4.73). I love the book and I gave it 5 stars.
@imenetec I don't remember when the Readathon was, but I remember he switched from Goodreads to Storygraph around half-way through the year. Maybe that's why it didn't show up?
did i forget to add this book to my goodreads?!?!?!?! why did it not come up???? i'm now questioning everything
@@jack_in_the_books I think you've been focusing more on Storygraph.
Was looking for this comment!! Could’ve sworn he read it and I knew it was rated highly. Glad this has been confirmed
@@hannjords I'm pretty sure Jack's video was the one that convinced me to read Know My Name in the 1st place
You’ve made mentions of how you’re going through some crap in your life…and I just wanted to say that whatever you’re going through in your personal life, just know that you aren’t alone. It’s okay to feel how you’re feeling. You will make it through this slump in your life. I hope you’re able to find time to bring yourself joy. *hugs*
You should do a video where you read all the books Issac from heartstopper read in the series :)
12:00 I actually really loved Educated, and I was really curious about the part where she just suddenly gets into Cambridge and that sort of academic success kind of follows her and she never deeply explains all that. I had two reactions first I was of course mind-blown and impressed, but a part of me also felt a little stung because as someone who's found getting into higher education so harrowing and emotionally exhausting by itself minus all that childhood trauma, I think I was more personally invested in how it just happened to her seemingly magically, like i felt some nasty envy.
My personal theory about why she does not go into a lot of depth into that is because it has the potential to distract from what her point is (how education helped her to change her life), and to some degree I think not discussing those details also make it easy to see why she specifically struggled with such a strong imposter syndrome later on and almost gave up. By the end of the book, I did not really question the transition as much and found her story really impactful.
I think I had a similar reaction, I appreciate the book and understand what she says, but as someone who literally spiralled into depression while writing my thesis, I did feel a bit cheated by that transition and her basically having such a successful academic life.
I'm just about to finish reading Educated. I really enjoyed the read, well, maybe "enjoyed" isn't the right word... I was holding back tears reading many parts of the book. Personally I think why Westover sort of skipped over the process of her transition was to form a more impactful contrast between her "uneducated" self and her educated self, and maybe describing her transition in detail would soften that contrast... Perhaps... :)
Yes to this comment and it’s replies. I was always top of my class at school and I had a really hard time in college. She went from not going to school and not knowing about the Holocaust to BYU and then Cambridge? The rest was super shocking and the book is well written, but that part is a major plot hole.
@@JennieGarciaN It's a memoir, so it can't really have a 'plot hole'
@@Hungarycloud I know. 😂 But it’s still a gap that has many people wondering how she got from A to B.
Jack! Are you going to do a part two to trying to solve the Cain's Jawbone mystery? Love you & so proud of you x
........................... no comment
I was about to ask that too 😭😭
@@jack_in_the_books HAHAHAHA honestly fair enough
@@jack_in_the_books I bought this book because of you and I had so much fun for like a week till I got bored lmao
I hope you’ll get soon back to a better mental space ! I am very thankful for your videos, love the energy and sincerity you exude! Take the necessary time to focus on yourself and come back stronger👊🏾
Just wanted to drop in and thank you, Jack, for your videos. I loved, loved, loved this one. I am a lifelong reader and I'm guessing at 73, I am one of your "wiser" (a term my doctor uses instead of older) followers. My "Books of Interest" Pinterest page is overflowing because of you -- that is not a bad thing at all. I so enjoy your insights into books.
One of my favorite hobbies is reading the one star reviews to books that I also believe deserves one star. People are comical on there.
You should do reading books that were mentioned in the heartstopper series :)
Jack i hope you know you’re literally the coolest person ever and so inspiring!!
We love you Jack! Don’t ever feel bad for taking a break and focusing on yourself 💛
I’ve missed you and been binge watching your older videos! You inspired me to pick up books and read more! Take a break as long as you need to and hope you’re feeling better :D
everytime i watch ur videos my tbr list just grows so much longer
Hi Jack, you are wonderful and bring so much joy to my bookish feed. Please know you are appreciated and that we all feel shitty sometimes and it’s ok to take a break! Hope you fill your days with what you love and make your way toward feeling better! Sending hugs
I hope you feel better soon Jack. This has given me some new additions to my reading list :)
It can be hard to always think up content, having a break every so often is needed.
This was really interesting as always
Hey Jack, I hope you don’t feel pressured to put out videos for your audience. Take a break if you don’t feel good or just don’t feel like making them. Enjoyed this as always!!
The highest rated of the books I’ve read since I started using Goodreads is This Thing of Darkness (4.51). Absolutely amazing book. A fictional portrayal of the captain of the Beagle and Charles Darwin. Their overlapping journeys encompassing discovery, joy, horror, fame, infamy and madness.
just about to read this! so excited now
@@ciara1045 I hope you enjoy it!
Finally! I've been missing your video, Jackk!!
I also watch and love Hailey! Her video (and yours) were interesting. Also I binged Heartstopper yesterday 😅 excited for your video on it.
You need to make a video reading everything isaac read! I immediately thought of you when I saw all the books he was reading.
I like the concept of this video, but I feel Goodreads needs to work on its rating system. Sometimes a book is a 3.5 star, you know it's not bad enough to be 3, but not good enough to get a 4. I wish they add a .5 between each stars.
That's why I've been using Storygraph since Jack suggested it although the interface and community over on GR is much better.
That's funny. I love the story graph interface 👀
I started using The Storygraoh when you made the video on it and I’m also still using both lol. I like how it has the exact release dates and not just month and year, and the like shelves that books fall on which might tell me if something is paranormal which StoryGraph doesn’t do
Heartstopper was sooooooo good and I am probably going to watch it again today. Do I have anything else to do? Yes. Do I care? Absolutely not! Because that show was great!!!
yess I'm just like you; I just wanna keep watching it again and again
Truly, like the casting was literally taken off from the comics. I will watch it again ❤️.
@@bethanyvanhecke2766 I was literally sobbing with the cuteness
@@jaquesdonpan6906 I totally agree. Kit Connor and Joe Locke were the perfect casting for Nick and Charlie as well as everyone else. 😭
The boy, the mole, the fox and the horse. One of my favorite books 💜 I read it to my kids and make it interactive, asking them questions that come up in the book. Their answers warm my heart.
I love how regularly he posts
heartstopper is amazing, I love it. I’m so glad the adaptation kept its essence, it was great
Gosh- i’m so proud to be early !! Your videos make me feel so so safe so thank u
I very much love that you watch Hailey In Bookland as well.
can't wait for the heartstopper video! hope you're able to take some time to look after yourself and i hope your feeling better soon 💛
so unrelated but u should make a playlist video omg
i am now waiting for the heartstopper video, i need it
Haha thank you for posting rn! I'm currently pinned down by our large dog and needed something to keep me busy while I wait for her to wake up 😂❤️
Can't wait for your Heartstopper video! I would have killed for books like this growing up. I'm nearing 30 and there just wasn't much representation around back then. I also watched the show in one sitting haha.
I always get extremely excited when Jack uploads a new video. I would be willing to watch him do a mukbang video and enjoy it at this point 😂
we love u bestie take your time
OMG! I love Hailey and her channel 😍 and it make me sooo happy that your video was inspired be hers ❤️
the fact that there's a boy reading a good girl's guide to murder in heartstopper, the tv show it's amazing
if you want to try making videos other than book reviews, you could do a "TV/Movie adaption vs Book" type of series? For example how does the Pride and Prejudice movie change things compared to the book? Is the casting as the characters are described? Did they change the ending? Do you like the book or movie better etc
It's ok to take a bit of a break from recording when you are struggling, we understand. :)
This is an interesting analysis, I did it to my account and the highest stared are all sequels, and the lowest are all books that I and other like 10 people read and didn't like hahaha
I am once again watching this man talk about books while my to read list grows
So great you got to go to the Heartstopper premiere! I’d love to see you do a video reading all the books they show Issac reading in the show.
If only there could be an app that combines all the cool parts of both platforms. Also your opinion of Educated having a quick jump is so interesting. I had the complete opposite experience where I thought the story building was really slow in the beginning as we watched the character develop and progress as she discovered education and how it transformed and empowered her. I almost DNF'd it because my experience with it was too slow and drug out. Just goes to show the power of perspective, and what makes the reading community so fun!
Hi! Its so good to see you again, I missed your videos :) The only two I've read that we on that list were The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo and The House in the Cerulean Sea. I rated both 5 stars, so I agree completely with your assessment too! I have been meaning to read Heartstopper. I really need to prioritize those so I can watch the show!
Jack, love your books and your way of expressing yourself :))
I remember you did that video on asian books and I was wondering if it wouldn't be fun to make a series where you concentrate on different countires/cultures and you only read books of these countries :))
I discovered that it is really enriching to look for books from other countries as you learn about a different culture, different style of writing etc.
Anyway thanks for your videos:))
BRO JOE LOCKE AND SEBASTIAN CROFT JUST MESSAGED YOU, HOW ARE YOU SO CALM I WOULD BE SCREAMING
the highest rated book i've read is All The Young Dudes (4.81 average!). Honestly i’d love for Jack to read it cause it’s such a good fanfiction and i want to know what he'd think of it :)
No worries Jack, we are here for you (as good as we can in this anonymous internet) and appreciate every video you make and every effort you put into your work. Hope that you can get out of you rabbit hole of chaos and unsatisfaction soon or you find something in it that inspires you so you can make something good out of the negative. 💝
Making regular content can be exhaustive: trying to think of new ideas and things to do and try, so it’s understandable if you have occasional burn out or need some time out.
Just finished The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo - a great read, outside my usual genres, so a great recommendation thanks to your good self.
JACK NEEDS TO GIVE US A LIST OF WHERE HE GETS ALL HIS GRAPHIC TEES FROM ASAP!!!
We missed you 🧡
Thank you for discussing windrush
Graphic novels are a quick read and cover so many genres. I think it would be great if you followed up heartstopper with other LGBT graphic novels, like from Tillie Walden and Molly Knox Osterag. Or just graphic novels in general.
Me liking the video before it even starts . Jack has ruined me 😭🤍🤍🤍
Okay but we need a review on the heartstopper novel and TV series!!
I don't know if you are interested at all in manga, but Girls Last Tour is probably my favourite book of all time. It's a post apocalypse, last two people on Earth type of deal where the protagonists discuss philosophical questions and question our current societal norms whilst trying to reach the top of a massive multilayered tower. It's very short, only taking around a day to complete, but it's absolutely beautiful and genuinely changed how I look at the world. It's very easily accessible online and not too hard to get physical. The ending is probably my favourite ending in anything ever and the art is beautiful as a bonus too.
Just read the first two volumes of it yesterday and plan on finishing it soon! Really enjoying it
I binge watched all of Heartstopper yesterday and I just found it absolutely delightful.
Don't know if I'm the only one, but I pretty much like every video Jack does the moment I start watching it...
I sort of see where you’re coming from about educated, but I always felt like the point was to follow her internal learning and self education more than the institutions she ended up in. What I found powerful about her story was watching her slowly question things about her upbringing, and understanding how deep the indoctrination went
Jack, take all the time you need between videos because we’d rather have you refreshed and recharged rather than vacant and bored for weeks on end.
Love you Jack! Take your time and hop back on the wagon when you're ready
Be careful not to burnout, Jack. If you need time to yourself please take it. We’ll be watching whenever you post. And the books aren’t going anywhere.
I hope jack knows that he is an absolute icon no matter what
I also loved Project Hail Mary! 😍
Love your channel 📚❤️
it's my bday so this is my bday gift, thank you jack
Loved this!
Please do a video on your main channel on all the books Isaac is seen reading in Netflix’s adaption of Heartstopper!! i saw him reading so many books (what a bookworm love to see it)
I love this man🥺💙
Please now that heartstopper has a netflix adaptation watch jack embrace his unhinged self (in the best way) once again and read all the books isaac is spotted reading in the show
I love the boy, the mole, the fox and the horse. Me and my friends really resonated with it when we were grieving too :)
I loved this! I’m super excited to see the lowest rated books and your opinions on them. I definitely disagree with you on “Educated”, I think it is so brilliant and interesting. I took so much from it
love the shirt jack! whered u get it from
Video idea: recommending a book to every character in Heart Stopper. What book would you recommend Charlie to read? Nick? Tao? Elle? Ben?
YES YES
Jack: Sometimes I refer to my videos as books.
Me: A little odd, but makes perfect sense.
Also me, immediately after the video, in reference to the video: I quite enjoyed that book.
love it!!
love how he just casually mentioned that three celebrities dmed him and never brought it up again
the top rated books in my read list on goodreads are basically just all very unpopular and specific academic books or books from my childhood and then all the harry potter books :')
Time to add more books to my tbr that i have no time to read 💯
Jack!!! I did miss your content and totally understand those existential crisis days. Hope you’re doing better now and for a video idea in Celeb book club… what about Emma Watson?
please do more videos about youtuber books or celebrity poetry!
It's ok to take time for yourself and not post for a while! We'll always be there when you come back :^)
Jack, good video, how about a monthly roundup or monthly TBR to inspire us. :) Thanks.
Jack going to the heartstopper premiere whilst I'm busy with schoolwork 💔
Jack only made this video to prove that his taste is immaculate and WE ALREADY KNOW THAT
Glad to see there’s an Arabic book in there 😍
And heartstopper wins for sure!!
Please do a video where you read all the books Isaac reads in heartstopper. ❤️
desperate for you to do a video reading every book Isaac in heartstppper read!!
Jackk!! I love both of your channels and have gotten me back into reading!! I appreciate your channels so much! But please if you need a break to like.. take a break?? (can't find the right words) please take one!!
Please do a video where you read all the books that Isaac reads in the Heartstopper show! :)))
oh honey, three weeks is not a slump worthy of an apology. that’s a break and you’re allowed to take them when you need to. always happy to see you but take it easy 💚🧡💚
