Right now, Ashley is the host of PROFILE by BuzzFeed News, an “interview show bringing you the biggest names in news and entertainment right now.” She’s also working on writing her memoir, Somebody’s Daughter, which will be published by Flatiron Books. Her work has been featured in an impressive roster of publications, like Allure, ELLE, BuzzFeed, SELF, Slate, Teen Vogue, and The Cut. She’s been on Forbes Magazine’s 30 Under 30 list, Brooklyn Magazine‘s Brooklyn 100 list, and been one of Time Out New York’s New Yorkers of The Year.

@Lyse, as a fellow bibliophile, the first thing i wanted to know was what is the name of the book in her arms when the video started.
I feel they are such a dime a dozen now. But at the end of the day if they are happy that’s what matters more than being unique.🤷🏿♀️ The trend is running the course, I’m excited to see what’s in store next for our black sisters.

Fotozones The word “black” has to be mentioned because black women are so regularly belittled by this society. In a backhanded way, you can tell by the majority of these positive comments that for some of these viewers it’s a pretty big deal that a black woman can BE cheerfully literate, quirky, deep thinker, and deeply loved. In the media, black women are usually portrayed as poor, angry, whorish, and-or desperate. (Thank goodness that’s beginning to shift-it just can’t be soon enough!). On the other hand, @LBellatrix was a black female talking to another black female, so, really, you have no right to try to censor her words. You do not have the right to tell black people how they should speak to each other. It’s not your place to judge.

If you don't want racism in the world you can't keep bringing it up as a factor in anything otherwise it is going to swing around and biff you on the nose. It's really that simple.

@@maggietambwe8081 We need to be included more, because not all of us subscribe to the stereotypes. There's a lot of eclectic blacks who get looked over, and get labeled as "trying to be white", or being weird, sadly, a lot of it comes from our own people. We get questioned, mocked, and laughed at when we try to explain ourselves. We like alternative, creative ways of living also.
I don't think she's "weird" at all. She just doesn't confirm to the tightly policed ways women are supposed to present themselves.
She's just herself: unpretentious & not excessively adorned/beholden to beauty industry products/looks.
As a self-proclaimed nerd, I can identify with her. There are lots of Black women nerds. Proud to be one.

I've watched over a hundred Apartment Therapy videos and this one is, hands down, the greatest of all time. Love the quirky, funny and adorable Ashley and Kelly. Their apartment definitely reflected their personalities. The Hulk radioactive engagement rings? Whoever heard of that?! I NEED MORE!

Wooden spoons are the best as they don't burn you after sitting on the stove. plus they jut make me look like i know what I'm doing. They also don't leave taste which if you are a supertaster metal spoons suck at time.
