    I love your videos!! This is my first time raising a pig and I was researching because I know nothing about swine and what I need to get. I somehow stumbled upon your channel and you are so good at explaining and demonstrating everything. As I watched more of your videos I noticed your location tag and I live in Fair Oaks!! It is such a small world and I look forward to watching more videos from you!!

      This one is not exact but I think it'd be very similar. I'll try to check on ours to see the brand tomorrow but with some internet searching, this is the best I am coming up with. We originally got ours at our local feed store. www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/product/retriever-palm-grooming-glove-1238003

    • @stefanifamilyfarm

      With the momma and babies, they are on a raised floor right now so most is falling thru. We do scoop out anything that is solid enought to not fall thru if we're down there. And we use bleach water to scrub the flooring several times a day. Underneath the flooring, we spread a thin layer of wood shavings. Then, daily, scrape it out and add new dry shavings. Often times the raised flooring has channels under it and farms just hose it out or something. We don't have a big channel under ours, just 6 inches that we raised on each end of the pen with a treated 4x6. We also don't want a big wet nasty mess in our barn since we use it for other things and it doesn't have any slope to the floor. Then we toss the waste in our "compost" pile. Not really a compost as we just add dead tree leaves and mainly used straw and shavings. We mix it up every once in a while with the tractor. Probably eventually will spread out in one of our fields. We were going to look into getting a 2 yard dumpster delivered and pay monthly for that but right now, with only the 2 mommas, we don't have that much waste. They spend most of their time out in the outside pens and fields anyways, only inside for about a month.

    can you git water in its ear

    • @stefanifamilyfarm
      @stefanifamilyfarm  3 года назад

      You can get it in their ears but try not to, it's best not to. Most of the time we can spray them off at the correct angle for the water to be deflected by the position of the ear so it doesn't go in.
      You'll notice if you get it in their ear because they will hold their head leaning one way or the other. Also they may shake their head a lot, because the water in their ear is bothering them. They'll walk kinda funny. The worst is when you are at the day of the show and you accidently get it in the ear, that'll ruin your show if you don't fix it before hand.
      SO yes, you "can" get water in their ears, but don't. You really shouldn't.
