My handle is really on tightly due to hard water deposits. I removed the screw and tried this tool but I couldn't get the handle off. However in the process I believe I damaged the threads for the handle screw. I put the handle back on temporarily until I could figure something else out. Now the screw is stuck in the damaged threads and won't come out either. Not sure what to do at this point.

Sounds like your going to need a new faucet stem anyway. Me I would swist the handle off with a pair of pliers and break handle of. It's ok you will need a new handle as well, and if your not feeling comfortable trying that. You may want to call a plumber😖sorry
