- I was in hospital yesterday having a hip steroid injection, and have been in a lot of pain with it today, but this gift arriving in the post was the most wonderful distraction!! Thank you Paul Rubens!
The watercolours I received are all new products that Paul Rubens plan to list later in the year.

I really do appreciate beauty in packaging as we were discussing with Himi. I think we should own and use nice things regularly, a habit that has been trained out of us. Every single day we are given is a gift and we should treat ourselves to using beautiful things to celebrate. Make "special occasions" every single day. I loved the tea set in the painting as it goes with the sentiment. A tea bag in a dollar store mug isn't celebrating the miraculous nature of our lives. Hope you are feeling better soonest!

I hope you were able to get a decent night's rest after that injection! Those 3 pans ... !!! I'll be looking forward to one of your color wheels with that! I just do not get black (or white) in a set of 12 or 24, although I ESPECIALLY resent a black paint in a set of 12. Winsor Newton seems to somewhat be getting over that of late. Those mop brushes look wonderful!!!!

I know what you mean about black and white, but funnily, I'd picked out a painting to copy that used it! The brushes were a delightful surprise!

Those large pans of primary paints are spectacular. I searched online and do not see them anywhere so that is a very special gift indeed!

Helen if I need white would the Windsor and Newton pan mix well ? The studio set not the proffesional pan set.💕
I don't really use white watercolour a whole lot - just to mix pastels occasionally, and I've not used the Winsor & Newton Cotmans white, sorry.

I just recently started with Paul Rubens 4th gen and I loved them so much I bought the new Youlan set within a few weeks. They are now my favorite paints. I'm a newbie but am doing world watercolor month and have seen an improvement in my work once I started with Paul Rubens.

I hope the steroid pain is starting to wear off. I had one once in my shoulder prior to my shoulder replacement and nearly passed out with the pain in the surgery, so I really feel for you. I love that your freebie arrived at just the rifght time to give you a lift! 🥰

Hello! The Paul Rubens ceramic pans remind me of the now-discontinued W&N large pans. W&N’s pans were much smaller, though, about half or a third of the size of the Paul Rubens ceramic pans. I’d love to own some of the W&N ceramic pans one day.
I've never heard of the W&N pans before! Mind you, I've not been into watercolours for very long, so not that surprising.
I googled them. I'm smitten. I now covet a W&N giant Opera Pink!!!
@@helencryer Smitten! Couldn’t think of a better word to describe my state when I saw them. Colorbox in Turkey still stocks them, but they’re awfully expensive.

hi is the carbon black ink waterproof and which sized nib is your lamy? thank you!
Yes, it's waterproof when fully dry, and I use a Medium nib.
The mops are usually made of squirrel hair so do tend to be soft. A mohair version was used many years ago for French polishing, but I doubt much of that is done now. The book (?) is like the one I bought; it's really a block and not a book at all. Seems Rubens have a funny idea about descriptions. Too much packaging as well, nice if it's a gift for someone, but really?
There is definitely little English information on Paul Rubens products!
Do you use the ink just on top of dried wc? Or also under and paint on top of it? If so, would like to know which brand, thanks.
I've used it both ways. Details of what I use is in description of video.
Meh.. the colors don't blend all that well and they don't make eye popping blends..
I used a lot of water to start with, so probably made the blend worse than it could have been, but whilst I quite like the Paul Rubens paints and think they are super student watercolours, they are still not on the same level as my best professional watercolours.
