Started this video as an excuse to clean my makeup brushes. And then while I was cleaning my brushes in the sink, I realized I need to clean our the whole bathroom, which lead me to then mop the floors in my entire house. It was one of those very needed cathartic cleans. All that to say, thank you Alex for cleaning all that nastiness out with me and making me feel super productive. Deeply satisfied and grateful to not take that dust and dirt into the new year. 😆

I love how you draw boundaries with what you share and don’t. It’s very refreshing. As much as I love hearing your thoughts on things, you are allowed to have your privacy, and I 100% support you in that. I cannot agree more with your take on things. We are becoming overwhelmed with too many choices too and personally I feel that I cannot fully concentrate on one thing. I am 58 and thought I was above getting caught up in social media scrolling but I am equally susceptible. I hate New Years resolutions, but one that I have is to not spend so much time on social media or at least just watch the people that I truly enjoy. You are among the people that make my day!
Totally agree, I'm 53 and as I look at my priorities, time scrolling is eating way too much of my time. I've gotten too "into" skincare and makeup and find it just eats too much time. Also overwhelmed by decisions. My son is about to graduate college but is living in town while student teaching, so I'm helping him get his "stuff" for adult life, and how to manage that stuff with the least effort. Trying out very simple versions of capsule wardrobe (not getting "strict" & keeping my larger closet for now), capsule makeup, capsule outerwear even (with 8 months winters, you end up with A LOT of outerwear lol), capsule fridge & meals, the whole 9 yards. Reduce decisions, speed up my daily basics, create time & space to get back into dating and get my biz off the ground. Enjoying a NYE binge before I severely limit my feed to people like Alex, who do not trigger my desire to purchase or acquire constant "new." I've stocked up & set purchase subscriptions so I can limit my shopping effort to fresh food weekly & replacing basics. Hoping that I can stay focused on my priorities!!

Agree 100%. I'm 55, and I used to be waaaayyy more involved, creating for and running 3 facebook pages. I've pulled dramatically back. The trolling and negativity, the rush and demand and constancy of people's expectations... it's all too much.
16:33 As a kid we had to clean the house on Saturdays and to do a good job, finish, have lunch, then play. That was the 80s and 90s for me. Now, because I don’t want to do it on a Saturday to do it all, I’m more relaxed BUT anxiety creeps up because at times it’s not getting done. Then I’m extremely overwhelmed it’s my internal dialogue that I’m trying to change “just do one room” or “just unload the dishwasher” or “just do two loads of laundry”. I hear you Alex and that you for opening up about this ❤😘🇨🇦
The honeymoon phase of social media is largely over for me, too. The amount of time I put myself out there is dramatically reduced in favor for just being in the moment. I love the declutter videos and would enjoy hearing more about your process for keeping / giving up items in your collection.

Ooo I neeeeed to clean TODAY. Been working a lot. The laundry piled up. I allowed myself (finally) to not do much the past two days. Literally needed to rest my eyes because they got swollen, my under eyes even more sunken in and I looked sick. I finally feel more rested. Anyway… I love this kind of behind the scenes content. It’s real. So genuine. Just share what you feel comfortable sharing. More eyes on you do mean more scrutiny from an audience who wouldn’t really know YOU. I will say that we’ll always be here as your audience whenever you post. The pursuit of perfection is one we’ll always chase but rarely, if ever, truly achieve. I looked at my mess in my room and felt a moment of defeat. But simply starting in one area at a time and going from there will move things forward. Happy New Year!!!!

Yes please, more organizing videos! I like to see the process from people like you who have a million of the same thing and can go "this is for my every day section, this is special/weird section, this is bulk category..." it's also very helpful to see you quickly and easily identify what you're getting rid of. I dwell on things too much. Plus I don't even use it if I can't easily get to it and put it back quickly. I like to see the "boring" bits, like HOW do you store the things, what cups/trays/drawer dividers whatever do you like for what types of things. Mind blowing to even see a dirty vs clean brush cup system, that's pro level status
Started therapy about 10 years ago. You are SO right about finding the right person. Mine has helped me lean into my true self, being more confident & not apologizing for who I am or how I handle things. Type A people pleaser here 🙋♀️ Sometimes I go regularly & then other times I'll go months without & then go in for what I call a "tune up". Can't recommend it enough! Glad it's working for you...the initial stage can be uncomfortable but worth it in the long run. Thanks for sharing! 💕

No one has a right to your personal life! It’s easy for the crowd watching to forget there are very real boundary lines. It’s not all of us, but there are some who seemingly want to hold hands all day every day with content creators . To me that speaks of deeper issues within themselves. I LOVED this. I have ADHD and always need body doubling to do organization tasks (unless I'm in a super hyperfocused mode - but that's hit or miss). I opened and shredded 18 months worth of credit card offers, took out trash and recycling, paid a bunch of random bills, and did all kinds of tedious stuff that I never get done. Listening to you talk while I worked was PERFECTION.
I LOVE these kind of videos. I always watch you and Bailey Sarian while I’m getting ready so the longer+more ramble-y the videos, the better! You have the most calming energy+I’m just a big ball of anxiety so that helps tons lol I very much appreciate you and the effort you put into makeup+educating us about it!🫶
I don’t usually comment on your videos but the points about social media and content really spoke to me. I will say the constant negativity is definitely why Ive deleted social medias. It’s so tiring and draining; deleting it definitely has made my mental health better. Im glad Im not the only one who feels that way.

I just started watching your videos and I enjoy your creativity but I also admire your honesty. I started reading the book and recommended it to my sister who is struggling due to depression. I developed PTSD and anxiety at the beginning of the pandemic. I just finally started feeling like myself again. I think this book will help me in my healing journey. Thanks again. I really appreciated this video and your openness. A lot of your issues you're working through I have the same of and have been trying to work through myself and it is NOT easy. I do want to thank you because a lot of what you said was helpful for me personally. I really enjoy watching your videos and knowing we share the same mental struggles just makes me appreciate them more and connect with you human to human and not as just some social media star flaunting their grand life and how perfect it is but in reality isn't the case, which just attributes to the mental issues most young people have now because of it. Also, hearing someone else talk about holding back when they feel less than how they want to feel like or think they should, for me, is comforting somehow, because it can get really lonely in that headspace and just knowing you're not the only one dealing with that helps in itself, the fact that someone else can relate. That's my ramble. Thank you again for the honesty and I would enjoy more videos like these as well!

Everclear (yes, the alcohol) works great for removing anything with adhesive. Especially stickers, bandages, medical tape residue (and those horrible sticky things at the hospital that they stick to your body that take your EKG). It works for cleaning a lot of things. I keep mine in a spray bottle LoL it works, just try it once & you'll see.
I love this type of video. Sometimes you just need a friend to chat with while your doing a chore. Whether you know it or not, you are often that friend for me. You've helped me redecorate rooms, paint doors, and weed my garden 😀
Honeymoon period might be over, but your channel feels like a marriage that only mellows with time and the time spent progressively becomes more comfortable ❤. Even it somehow shows on your videos that you now love your followers more than you did several years back.

Your therapy journey is very similar to mine as I worked through different adverse experiences in my life coupled with undiagnosed ADHD. The perfectionism, the arbitrary goals that were hindering me… It’s been hard work but work well worth it :) you got this Alex!

I absolutely salute you for your openness about talking about your mental health. I feel taking about this should be normalised as we all have some form of it yet we don't give it the attention that we would with our physical health. Seeking out your own understanding of yourself is what happens to us in our early/mid 30’s. it’s how we grow. The important thing is that you keep being interested in your personal growth so you can live and enjoy the life you’ve chosen. I LOVED this. I have ADHD and always need body doubling to do organization tasks (unless I'm in a super hyperfocused mode - but that's hit or miss). I opened and shredded 18 months worth of credit card offers, took out trash and recycling, paid a bunch of random bills, and did all kinds of tedious stuff that I never get done. Listening to you talk while I worked was PERFECTION.
Does she have ADHD as well?

I don’t usually comment on your videos but the points about social media and content really spoke to me. I will say the constant negativity is definitely why Ive deleted social medias. It’s so tiring and draining; deleting it definitely has made my mental health better. Im glad Im not the only one who feels that way.

I just started watching your videos and I enjoy your creativity but I also admire your honesty. I started reading the book and recommended it to my sister who is struggling due to depression. I developed PTSD and anxiety at the beginning of the pandemic. I just finally started feeling like myself again. I think this book will help me in my healing journey. Thanks again. I really appreciated this video and your openness. A lot of your issues you're working through I have the same of and have been trying to work through myself and it is NOT easy. I do want to thank you because a lot of what you said was helpful for me personally. I really enjoy watching your videos and knowing we share the same mental struggles just makes me appreciate them more and connect with you human to human and not as just some social media star flaunting their grand life and how perfect it is but in reality isn't the case, which just attributes to the mental issues most young people have now because of it. Also, hearing someone else talk about holding back when they feel less than how they want to feel like or think they should, for me, is comforting somehow, because it can get really lonely in that headspace and just knowing you're not the only one dealing with that helps in itself, the fact that someone else can relate. That's my ramble. Thank you again for the honesty and I would enjoy more videos like these as well!

Everclear (yes, the alcohol) works great for removing anything with adhesive. Especially stickers, bandages, medical tape residue (and those horrible sticky things at the hospital that they stick to your body that take your EKG). It works for cleaning a lot of things. I keep mine in a spray bottle LoL it works, just try it once & you'll see.
I love this type of video. Sometimes you just need a friend to chat with while your doing a chore. Whether you know it or not, you are often that friend for me. You've helped me redecorate rooms, paint doors, and weed my garden 😀

Love videos like these! Don't feel guilty about not wanting to share things or post too much ... this is your job!! If you worked at a store or in an office you wouldn't be required to share private life details. Social media encourages too much over familiarty tbh everyone is entitled to their private lives. Humans aren't supposed to have their whole lives put on blast in front of hundreds or thousands of people. Take care of yourself first :) Thanks for the vid!

I really did enjoy this. normally I don't watch these kinds of videos but it was nice to spend time with you in a more personal way. It was nice to hear you talk about what you're doing off camera as a human. I've been putting off therapy myself and maybe now I have the motivation to finally make the call myself.

I feel taking about this should be normalised as we all have some form of it yet we don't give it the attention that we would with our physical health.
